Year:1986 Mileage:56144
Location:

Indianapolis, Indiana, United States

This is a military utility version of the Chevrolet K5 Blazer. The M1009 is a utility rig built from a Blazer and could be used for command and control, as well as officer transport.  The M1009 was rated for a 1,200 lb payload and a 3,000 lb towed load. It uses the heaviest duty GM springs available for the chassis and the rear axle is a 10-bolt unit. It rolls on the original tires and has a 6.2 liter Detroit Diesel  engine non-emissions diesel  rated at 155 hp  and 240 lb·ft and equipped with a turbo 400 transmission.  I am the only other owner than the government. I purchased it straight off a military base in Indiana. This vehicle is not perfect but is in very good condition. It has the expected amount of rust. There is rust in both front inner fenders, passenger side rocker and tail gate as well as a small area in the cab on the passenger side near the seat belt mount.. I have owned this truck since 2009. It had about 47,500 mile on it when I bought it. It has been used primarily as transportation for my daughter to and from high school. This truck is no where near perfect but is in very solid conditions.

Glow plugs work well.

Little to no smoke on start-up.

I have replaced both batteries and the dual exhaust.

It does have rust in a few areas as mentioned above (see pictures).

The dash has a crack in the center. (see pictures)

The heater fan only works on high.

The drivers seat has a tear. (see pictures)

The passenger side head light needs the little piece that keeps it aimed.

The rear glass does not roll up completely (approx 2" short) because the crank mechanism does not work correctly which can result in water in the cab when it rains.

No spare tire.

There is a small dent on the drivers door. (see picture)

The paint is 99% original. I recently touched up several spots of oxidation on the top with spray can flat black.

Passenger side mirror glass is missing.

Please ask any questions you may have.

This vehicle is sold as is with no warranty.

Buyer is responsible for transportation after the sale.

$500.00 deposit required which is refundable if you are not satisfied when you come to get the truck.

No refunds issued after delivery of the vehicle.

Final payment cash or certified check. The title will be released once funds are in my bank account.

NO TRADES

Per government regulations this vehicle must be purchased by a US citizen and cannot be shipped outside of the US.

Chevy to show redesigned Captiva in Geneva, will it come to US rental lots?

Wed, 27 Feb 2013

Unless you're renting a car or driving through Orlando, Florida (the rental car capital of the US), you'll probably never see a Chevrolet Captiva - the rebadged, fleet-only version of the old Saturn Vue - on our roads, but this crossover is popular in many other parts of the world. As such, Chevrolet announced that the Captiva will be getting an update for 2013, which will be unveiled next week at the Geneva Motor Show.
Coming off a pretty extensive refresh in 2011, the 2013 model year will bring even more changes to the Captiva like LED taillights, new 18-inch wheels and revised fascias with a new grille and fog lights up front and inset chrome exhaust outlets at the rear. New interior features include heated rear seats, dual-zone climate control as well as available options on some of the upper trim levels such as leather seating and keyless entry and start. We have yet to hear back from Chevrolet as to whether or not the updated Captiva will be making its way to a rental lot near you, as the model is only available in the US to fleet buyers.
Alongside the updated Captiva, Chevy is also showing off its new Trax in Europe, where the subcompact crossover will go on sale this spring. GM's press release for these two Geneva-bound models is posted below.

Chevrolet planning low-cost Corvette under Stingray?

Wed, 27 Feb 2013

If you're burnt out on musings about the Chevrolet Corvette, you'll want to go ahead and skip this post. Motor Trend reports General Motors is hard at work on a low-cost version of the seventh-generation sports car for 2015. Rumored to be called the Corvette Coupe, the car will forgo the Stingray and skip the 450-horsepower 6.2-liter V8 engine in favor of a 5.3-liter V8 with under 400 ponies. If you're keeping track, that's a shade of the same engine found behind the headlights of the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra.
The report also suggests the Coupe will receive a number of aesthetic tweaks to separate it from the Stingray, including different front and rear fascias as well as new front fenders and a rear diffuser. Motor Trend says the point of all this is to cut the car's price tag, which means we may see a Corvette on showroom floors for less than $50,000 if this car comes to fruition.

Why the Corvette's Performance Data Recorder can be illegal in some states

Fri, 26 Sep 2014

The Performance Data Recorder with Valet Mode available on the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray seems like a fantastic tool for many owners. Whether they are taking 720p video while lapping the track in their new 'Vette, or just want to protect their purchase from inconsiderate joyriders, the system offers a lot of functionality in one package. However, one of the PDR's features might get buyers in trouble with the law, and it has nothing to do with recording some illicit high-speed driving on a favorite back road. The problem hinges on the various state laws concerning a person's right to privacy.
According to a letter posted by Jalopnik, Chevy dealers are asking 2015 Corvette owners not to use the Valet Mode portion of the PDR because it records audio in the cabin, in addition to performance specs. That's a problem because privacy laws vary from state to state with some requiring just one side's consent to tape sound and others requiring all parties to agree. According Jalopnik, 15 states mandate everyone's permission beforehand, but it's not clear whether these numbers are up to date. (Actually, the report varies, saying 13 states in some places and 15 in a list.)
According to the letter, Chevy is already working on a software update for the near future to rectify the issue. It's possible that simply adding a warning to drivers and the ability to turn off the audio recording function in Valet Mode might solve the problem. Obviously, this doesn't preclude Corvette drivers from using the performance aspect of the PDR, and owners are free tape lap after lap at the track.
