ZZ502 Bel Air Restomod - Among the Finest in Existence!

The 1957 Bel Air. It seems that America's fascination with cars begins and ends with this cultural and generational icon. And when it comes to Bel Airs, this car stands alone and is arguably one of the finest in existence.

This outstanding RestoMod was built by renowned Tri-Five builder William "NuNu" Lowery of Chattanooga, TN, and truly carries the banner of perfection. Don't believe us? This Bel Air scored a 998/1000 at the Detroit Autorama, and the 2 points she lost were due to "cleanliness"! Perfection folks...perfection. But, one of the most special aspects of this car is that it has rarely been seen in public. This car has acquired less than 200 miles since completion and will turn every head and catch every eye that is lucky enough to see it. Yeah... this is your car.

The fit and finish of this Bel Air is truly spectacular. Every gap is perfect. Every seam is perfect. Every stitch is perfect. Are you sensing a theme here? The cost of building this beauty was well over $200,000 and friends, it is evident from the second you lay eyes on her.

The interior was created by the renowned and award winning Paul Atkins. The moment the door opens, you are welcomed by the scent of fresh, high quality leather. The moment you cozy up behind the wheel, you fall into an overwhelming sensory experience. The seats and door panels are intricately stitched in a pattern that is both simple and elegant. It is just such a pleasure to find a gem like this. Every square inch of this car is truly unbelievable.

As for the exterior... wow! It is truly impossible to find a finish more flawless and perfect than this. You can literally hold a watch up to the car and read the time off the car...a mirror finish if we've ever seen one. And the paint job isn't even the best part of the exterior. Chrome my friends. Chrome and mirror finished stainless. It is everywhere, and light truly explodes off every piece. Oh...and by the way...if you're thinking "Yeah, the topside is amazing, but I wonder what the underside looks like", let us answer that question for you. It looks even better than the top! The mirror finish extends to the undercarriage in a way that is truly astonishing. Amazing detail and craftsmanship extends to every component of the undercarriage.

Remember how we mentioned that your senses are overwhelmed with this car? Once you hear this baby, you'll understand what we mean. Under the hood, this Bel Air boasts a 502HP Chevrolet ZZ502 V8 that is absolutely screaming loud and backed up by a 700R4 automatic transmission. If you want to be heard a mile away, this car is for you. If you want to make sure that the people you pass on the road hear and feel you, this is your car. The big block is backed by an automatic transmission and Currie rear end.

Not every car is made equal. Not every Bel Air is made equal. While Bel Airs are relatively easy to find on the market, this one truly stands among the finest. Quality and unequaled craftsmanship is evident in every aspect of this car. Like we mentioned before, not many people have had the opportunity to see this car, which only adds to our pleasure here at Art & Speed. It's an honor for us to offer such a truly rare and special car as part of the Art & Speed lineup. Take your time looking through the pictures. You'll be glad you did!

GM profits threatened by glut of pickups

Wed, 05 Dec 2012

Automotive News reports that General Motors may slash production or ramp up discounts in order to deal with an oversupply of pickup trucks. GM currently has more than double the standard supply of pickups, and the vehicles are threatening to dampen the automaker's profits for 2013. Typically, automakers try to sustain a 60- to 75-day supply of vehicles, but GM is currently loaded with a 139-day supply, as of last month. At the end of November, the automaker was sitting on 245,853 units.
The manufacturer says that it will adjust production accordingly before laying any incentives on the profitable pickups. Even so, there's some concern that the inventory swell could hurt the roll-out of the next-generation Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra. GM actually began slowly stepping back production in August, but it's clear the company will take further action as it heads toward the end of the year and into the next. Analysts predict the automaker could reduce pickup manufacturing by nearly half in the first quarter of 2013.
That still may not be enough to keep GM from laying extra cash on the Silverado and GMC Sierra. While the company's incentive spending was down in November compared to the same month in 2011, both the Ram 1500 and Ford F-150 saw double-digit percentage increases in sales last month while the Silverado and Sierra numbers slid compared to a year prior. Incentive spending could help move more trucks and add some balance to the GM inventory surge.

Joe Flacco wins C7 Corvette along with MVP honors

Mon, 04 Feb 2013

As part of a longstanding tradition, the MVP of Super Bowl XLVII, Joe Flacco, quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens, was given a new car directly after the game and trophy celebrations. For 2013, that car is a 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, and it was presented to Flacco by Rick Flick of Banner Chevrolet, a dealership in New Orleans that was wiped out by Hurricane Katrina in 2005 before returning to prominence as the only Chevy dealer in Orleans Parish.
Last year, Super Bowl MVP Eli Manning took home a 2012 Corvette GS Centennial Edition. Manning also won in 2008, when he selected a Cadillac Escalade Hybrid as his reward. In 2011, quarterback Aaron Rodgers accepted the keys to a Camaro convertible.
Though we're most definitely an auto-obsessed group, we did watch the Big Game along with nearly everyone else in America. And we've gotta say, as if winning the Super Bowl and receiving the Tiffany-designed Pete Rozelle Trophy wasn't enough for the multi-millionaire MVP athletes, a brand-new C7 seems like an awfully generous prize. Scroll down below for an official announcement from General Motors.

Callaway debuts its new C7 Stingray at National Corvette Museum

Fri, 02 May 2014

Callaway showed off its first tuned version of the 2014 Corvette Stingray at the National Corvette Museum last week, giving the rampant enthusiasts of America's sports car a look at the roughly 620-horsepower, supercharged rocket.
Unlike the Corvette SC610 we showed you back in January, this Stingray packs a fair bit more oomph. Horsepower is only up ten ponies, but torque has jumped from 556 pound-feet to "at least" 600 pound-feet. Neither horsepower nor torque is official quite yet, although Callaway is expecting to know just what its creation can do once testing and validation is completed later this month.
The 6.2-liter, supercharged V8 now boasts a new, three-element intercooler, which Callaway claims only allowed the inlet air temperature to increase by ten degrees Fahrenheit during dyno runs. Previous designs saw a 35-degree-Fahrenheit jump. The exhaust system has also been fettled with, and now is even less restrictive.
