You are looking at an 1957 Chevy 2 door hard top coupe. This car is about as original as they come. A true unmolested Belair that hasn't been seen by the public eye in over 30+ years. I have spent some time getting her back up to par and road worthy once again. She does run and drive, although some of the gauges and lights do not work. The 2 speed power glide trans does slip a little, and she is a bit fussy when it comes to going into reverse. I just installed a newly rebuilt torque converter so maybe that will help solve the issue. I wasn't really worried about it sense my intentions were to completely restore the car and outfit her with a newer late model LS motor & over drive transmission. Well my plans have changed.....This vehicle started life as a yellow and white car although someone along the line decided to paint her brown. That evidently has worn over the years, and some of the yellow has started to show through. The body is in fair condition with minor dents and bruises from normal ware and tare over the years. The original interior is all there, and in fair condition. All the glass is in good shape except the rear passenger window has a few cracks in it and will eventually need to be replaced. The stock 283 V8 (with power pack heads)  runs good, and starts easy with just a turn of the key. Motor has that powerful vintage Chevy sound we all love. This car is a true Southwest vehicle with 99% NO rust. only thing I could find was a small cancer hole about the size of a silver dollar on the passenger side lower front quarter panel. Other than that the car is in amazing condition for its age and mostly rust free. Undercarriage is clean, and all the trim is there. I also have about 3k in additional show quality chrome including a California one piece bumper and many other misc chrome accessories that I can throw in on the deal. I have the reserve set low for a quick and easy sale.  If you have and questions please do not hesitate to ask. Good luck and happy bidding!

Are you the 2014 Corvette Grand Sport?

Thu, 21 Feb 2013

When are stripes more than just stripes? Follow up question: Is the product development team at Chevrolet really cocky enough to hide the next C7 Corvette variant in plain sight? This very recently spotted, and ostensibly obscured C7 asks a lot more questions than it answers, but there's at least some evidence to support that it might be the next Corvette Grand Sport.
The first and most obvious tip-off that something is up with this 'Vette revolves around those silver stripes. Obviously the stripes themselves don't necessarily denote a new model. However, when Chevy recently launched its "colorizer" website for the Stingray, there was no provision made for racing stripes - solid colors only.
Grand Sport exhibit number two is actually an incriminating lack of badges. The production Corvettes we've seen to date have all carried Stingray badges on their fenders, just behind the vent. The car seen in these images has no such badges, which is an intriguing omission on an car that looks like a production-spec vehicle otherwise.

Use this PowerPoint when convincing your spouse to let you buy a Corvette

When you are not the one in charge of the purse strings, creativity is a must when trying to get the string-holder to bankroll that next shiny object you just can't live without.
When I was a kid, I decided that life wasn't worth living if it weren't in pursuit of owning a GMC Typhoon. My 12-year-old self crafted a fiscal strategy that, when combined with my offer of a 49-percent share of ownership in the car in return for my parents' contribution of 80-percent of the purchase price, would see me behind the wheel of a Typhoon by the time I hit college. They walked away from the negotiating table and, the economic climate of the 8th grade being what it was at the time, another partner wasn't found before the Typhoon was discontinued.
Roy El-Rayes, however, has succeeded where 12-year-old me failed, and he did it by using the sort of professionalism that only a PowerPoint presentation can provide, along with some humor and bold-faced flattery.

UAW to vote on strike at Kentucky Corvette plant

Tue, 08 Apr 2014

The current wait time for a new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is well, not short. With word of a strike at the Bowling Green, KY factory responsible for seventh-generation sports car, though, that wait time could end up growing substantially.
Now, a strike is still a ways off. UAW Local 2164, which represents the 800 workers responsible for screwing the Corvette together, is set to vote on authorizing a strike today, but even if the employees give the action a go, it's far from a sure thing. According to The Tennessean, both regional and national union officials would need to put their stamp of approval on strike action.
"The membership has to vote to strike, but it's just a step in the process," said Gary Casteel, the UAW's Region 8 director and one of the people that would need to authorize a strike action. Casteel told The Tennessean, "It's purely a local situation, though. They are having some issues with the local management."
