UP FOR AUCTION IS A 1957 CHEVROLET 2 DOOR POST THAT WOULD MAKE A NICE RAT ROD, BUT OTHERWISE NEEDS COMPLETE RESTORATION. CAR NEEDS FLOOR PANS, TRUNK METAL AND OTHER BODY WORK. THE FRAME SEEMS TO BE SOUND. SEE THE PICTURES FOR DETAIL AS I TRIED TO SHOW ITS RUST AREAS AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. FENDERS ARE IN REALLY GOOD SHAPE, HOOD IS IN DESCENT SHAPE FOR RESTORATION. THE WINDSHIELD AND BACK GLASS HAVE BRAND NEW RUBBER WEATHER STRIPPING THAT WAS PUT IN THE CAR LAST WEEK. I HAVE GOOD DOOR GLASSES THAT ARE NOT IN THESE PHOTOS THAT I WILL INCLUDE WITH THE CAR. GM recalling 250,000 SUVs over door electronics
Mon, 20 Aug 2012After a door-fire investigation that dates back to February, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has officially announced a recall today that affects around 250,000 General Motors SUVs for a faulty driver's door module. The recall applies to the Buick Rainier, Chevrolet Trailblazer, GMC Envoy, Isuzu Ascender and Saab 9-7X from the 2006 and 2007 model years, as well as the 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer EXT and GMC Envoy XL for vehicles sold and/or registered in the Snow Belt.
Road salt use in these midwestern and northern states can lead to corrosion of the driver's door module on these GMT360 and GMT370 vehicles, which allows water to come in contact with the circuit board. If shorted out, the vehicle's power door locks and power windows will not work, and could possibly lead to overheating and, in some circumstances, a fire. No official word on how many total vehicles caught on fire, but back in June, 28 fires had been reported to the government agency. A fix for the problem is still being worked out, but all affected vehicle owners will be notified by GM.

Amelia Island 2013: Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray from concepts to split windows
Wed, 13 Mar 2013While this year marks 60 years of the Chevrolet Corvette, the 2013 Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance focused on one of the coupe's most sought after models, the 1963 Sting Ray. General Motors design boss Ed Welburn was on hand to show off the all-new C7 Corvette, but even the hard-edged styling of the 2014 Stingray couldn't take away from the beautiful 1963 models sitting out on the field.
In addition to the original Sting Ray and the 1959 Sting Ray Concept, some of the other classic 'Vettes included "Big Tank" racecars, an interesting cutaway coupe, a right-hand-drive Z06 and the attention-grabbing 1963 Corvette Rondine by Pininfarina. Another impressive Corvette was the 1964 Corvette XP-819 rear-engine prototype. Owner Mike Yager had the car finished as a driving chassis for this year's show, but promises the car will be back to its original glory in time for next year's event.
