1955 Chevrolet Bel Air Hardtop Street Rod.  Where to start? This car has the best of everything.  Two door hardtop, frame off restoration. Frame was powder coated, all running gear was powder coated. I own a powder coating business, if it can be powder coated it is. Body is immaculate, zero rust. Paint has to be seen in person to be appreciated.  Four wheel disk brakes. Factory 1957 Chevy third member with all new bearings, seals and 3:08 gears. 700R4 overdrive transmission. Chevrolet crate 350 with Holley EFI. Billet Specialties Serpentine kit, Power steering, Air Conditioning, Ceramic Coated headers, Aluminum radiator. Motor only has 1320 miles on it.  Interior was completely redone, including trunk. Has Rockford Fosgate stereo system.  Drop spindles up front with Billet Specialties 17x8’s out back and 17x7’s up front all wrapped with Yokahama rubber. All the glass and chrome are in awesome condition, the side trim is original stainless that was worked and polished. The chrome up front and out back is brand new. This car is ready! It runs and drives like a dream. With the gearing and overdrive transmission it cruises 70mph while only turning 1900 rpm’s. And getting 22mpg doing it. As I said before, no expense was spared. Every part of this car was stripped down and powder coated or painted.  Car has an awesome stance, and turns heads everywhere it goes. The story of the 2014 Chevrolet SS: "Luxury, power, refinement, handling"

Not including the women and men who built it, the 2014 Chevrolet SS has only been seen in person by a piddling number of people - fewer humans than would fill the gymnasium at a high school volleyball game. Not including the men and women who built it, no one has driven it. Even so, it is already saddled with two controversies: the way it looks and the way it shifts.
First to that shifting. Did we love the last Americanized Holden, the awesomely sportsome Pontiac G8 GXP, and its six-speed manual? Of course. Do we wish the SS came with a six-speed manual? Of course. But we'd like a toboggan to come with a manual transmission. We'd put a manual transmission on a weasel if we could because we're just wired that way; if it moves, it should come with a stick and a clutch. Or at least the option.
Let's climb down off the ledge, though. We haven't driven the SS and we have no idea how good (or not) the automatic is. And the Hobson's Choice in transmissions when it comes to sport sedans like the BMW M5, Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG and Jaguar XFR-S and, oh yeah, cars-that-really-should-have-manuals like the Audi R8 and Nissan GT-R and Porsche 918 and every single Lamborghini and Ferrari, for instance, hasn't stopped us from enjoying what is clearly the gruesome, dual-clutched demise of Western automotive civilization. Because in spite of our ululations at the dying of the six-speed light, we understand.

GM takes heat for aborted Silverado riff on 'Boston Strong' at World Series

During game five of the World Series, Chevrolet was set to do a spot of marketing for the 2014 Silverado - fans at Busch Stadium in St. Louis would hold up placards that spelled out the words "Silverado Strong," a theme that Chevy has been promoting since the Silverado's launch with the song "Strong," by Will Hoge. The St. Louis promo was ultimately called off, though, over concerns that it'd be insensitive to the visiting Boston Red Sox. (You can see the image of what the stunt would have looked like above, courtesy of one timely Reddit user.)
Now, the Busch Stadium stunt might not have been a big deal, had the St. Louis Cardinals not been playing the Boston Red Sox. Following the tragic events in Boston during the marathon back in April, the phrase "Boston Strong" gained traction among the city's citizens, especially at sporting events. So, you can imagine that Chevy's appropriation of the phrase might not sit well with some fans.
The stunt was ultimately shelved after images of the signs went viral before the game, leading to a bit of a public backlash. Chevy spokesperson Michael Albano said of the promo that it was meant to show the brand's "commitment to baseball and its fans." But after the images went viral, the company "realized there was the possibility that we may offend some of the very fans we were trying to honor," Albano told Automotive News via email.
