AVALANCHE 2500 4WD, 8.1
2 Owner truck. I purchased it from a friend in 2004 with 4,000 miles and have been the sole driver since then. NON SMOKER VEHICLE. Never smoked in or had a smoker in it. OPTIONS: LEATHER DUAL ELECTRIC FRONT SEATS WITH HEAT SIDE AIR BAGS BOSE STEREO WITH FACTORY SUB-WOOFER MOON-ROOF REAR SEAT DVD WITH WIRELESS HEADSETS DUAL DIGITAL HVAC ADJUSTABLE ROOF RACK 410 GEARS WITH HD TRANS HD REAR WITH LEAF SPRINGS HYDRAULIC POWER BRAKES (3/4 TON) 8.1 BIG BLOCK (roughly equivalent to 496) ELECTRIC TRAILER BRAKE CONTROLLER The 2500 only came as a 4 wheel drive with the 8.1 big block. The tow rating is in excess of 12,000 LBS when equipped this way. It is a true 3/4 ton truck with a heavier frame, leaf springs instead of coils, hydraulic power brakes rather than vacuum etc. I have only used it as daily transportation and occasional towing under 7,000 lbs. No boat ramps. The truck was kept in a heated garage. The body, paint and interior all in excellent condition. All options work as designed. (couple small door dings and a very thin scratch on the tailgate) I have never had any breakdowns or problems with this truck. As it is a 3/4 ton and I wasn't beating it, everything lasts that much longer. I am selling only because I have a new truck coming and really can't justify 2. (although I would love to keep the avalanche also if I had more garage space) The truck is located in zip 08225. Near Atlantic City NJ. (No I'm not in a flood area. 2014 Chevrolet C7 Corvette wastes no time zooming into Jay Leno's Garage
Thu, 24 Jan 2013Where else would you expect the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray to show up first? Although this time it isn't exactly in Jay Leno's Garage, Leno instead playing an away game at Brown's Classic Auto in Scottsdale, Arizona. Nor does Leno drive the car, instead taking an 11-minute walkaround of the new American sports car with General Motors design head Ed Welburn, the same man who recently brought by a string of classic Corvettes to the talk show host's California compound.
It is, admittedly, a love-fest for the American sports car now featuring 450 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque, but one that also features admissions about previous Corvette seats like "they were kinda rough," and the explanation that labeling the coupe "Stingray" means not having to call it "the base Corvette." On top of that, Welburn also explains the proper application of the term "dashboard." You can watch it all in the video below.
Silverado HD, Touareg V10 TDI face off in diesel tug-of-war
Sun, 30 Dec 2012A couple weeks ago, we watched a Chevrolet Silverado get dominated by a Dodge Ram Heavy Duty in a fullsize pickup tug-of-war, but in that truck's defense, Chevy's Vortec gas engine was no match for the torquey Cummins turbo diesel. For our next round of vehicular tug-of-war, a Duramax-powered Silverado HD takes on Volkswagen Touareg V10 TDI.
Now, on paper, putting the Duramax V8's 365 horsepower and 660 pound-feet of torque up against the V10's 310 hp and 553 lb-ft looks like an easy win for the Bowtie, but unfortunately, this battle has a similar result as the Dodge versus Chevy video, with the Silverado smoking its tires trying to move forward as it gets pulled backwards. Put another way: YouTube 2, Chevy Silverado 0.
It just goes to show, though, that big tires, bolt-on fender flares and goofy smoke stacks don't improve your towing abilities. Besides, what did the Silverado driver expect when the Touareg V10 TDI has towed a Boeing 747 in the past?
Joe Flacco wins C7 Corvette along with MVP honors
Mon, 04 Feb 2013As part of a longstanding tradition, the MVP of Super Bowl XLVII, Joe Flacco, quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens, was given a new car directly after the game and trophy celebrations. For 2013, that car is a 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, and it was presented to Flacco by Rick Flick of Banner Chevrolet, a dealership in New Orleans that was wiped out by Hurricane Katrina in 2005 before returning to prominence as the only Chevy dealer in Orleans Parish.
Last year, Super Bowl MVP Eli Manning took home a 2012 Corvette GS Centennial Edition. Manning also won in 2008, when he selected a Cadillac Escalade Hybrid as his reward. In 2011, quarterback Aaron Rodgers accepted the keys to a Camaro convertible.
Though we're most definitely an auto-obsessed group, we did watch the Big Game along with nearly everyone else in America. And we've gotta say, as if winning the Super Bowl and receiving the Tiffany-designed Pete Rozelle Trophy wasn't enough for the multi-millionaire MVP athletes, a brand-new C7 seems like an awfully generous prize.
