For sale:  2008 Cadillac STS in Gold Mist metallic with Cashmere leather interior. All Wheel Drive with 302hp Direct Injection V6 engine. 6 speed automatic with manual shift mode. RARE Factory navigation system (for the V6 engine - more common with the V8 option) with BOSE Studio Surround system and 6 CD/DVD changer. Power Sunroof. Zenon headlamps. Heated & Cooled front seats. Wood & Heated steering wheel.  Heated rear seats.  Rainsensing Wipers. Autodimming Intellibeam headlamps. Cadillac "accessory" 18" polished wheels with matching Michelin Pilot tires (I no longer have the original factory 17" wheels & tires).

This is a low mileage 2 owner vehicle in excellent condition inside & out.  No mechanical issues at this time - everything works as it should with the powertrain and the electronics.  Decent gas mileage (around 25-26 on the highway).   In November 2012, GM replaced the timing chain for me under the powertrain warranty - apparently this is a known issue with GM's direct injection engines that the chain stretches and upsets the sensor in the engine.  Nonsmoking STS as well. Just turned 25,000 miles on 12/3/12.  Ceramic front AC Delco brake pads were installed when the 18" wheels were installed (to cut down the brake dust).  Please send an eBay message if you are in the Champaign area and would like to view this nice STS in person.

If you are too far away, I'd be happy to take the STS to the shipper of your choice (shipping is at buyer's expense - just click the 'Shipping' tab above to estimate your shipping from my zip code, which is 61822, to yours).  You could also fly into the local airport (Willard - code CMI) and I would meet you there to complete the sale.  Thanks for looking, Doug

Cadillac shows dealers convertible rendering

Tue, 28 Oct 2014

Cadillac is getting serious about revitalizing and expanding its lineup, and to that end, a new report claims that brand boss Johan de Nysschen has been showing plans for several new models to the marque's dealer body - among them, a new convertible.
The droptop which Cadillac reportedly showed its dealers in sketch form, would be based on the same platform as the ATS and CTS, those it's unclear to which (if either) of those model lines the new convertible would be added, or whether the design features a canvas or folding hardtop roof. One way or another, it would be the first time Cadillac would offer a convertible since the Corvette-based XLR roadster was discontinued more than five years ago.
Quoting an unnamed brand spokesperson, Cadillac would "like to introduce an open car to the portfolio at some point," however, "it's not likely to be one of the near-term portfolio additions."

Cadillac teases camo'd ELR ahead of Detroit debut

Tue, 08 Jan 2013

With the 2014 Cadillac ELR being introduced next week at the Detroit Auto Show, General Motors has revealed another picture of its luxury range extended electric vehicle. Last month, we saw a dark, teaser photo showing some of the body detail for the electric coupe, but this recent photo shows the Cadillac in full camouflage testing in California back in September.
If this car looks familiar, it's because our spy shooters got a jump on GM by catching the car in action and providing pictures from all angles. There are still no official details for the ELR yet aside from the fact that it will share the Voltec system with the Chevrolet Volt, but we'll finally see the car unveiled in Detroit a week from today.

How GM's grueling 24-hour test gets the kinks out of its performance cars

Tue, 27 Aug 2013

One of the biggest challenges automakers face when designing a high-performance car is making sure that it is both fast and reliable. For General Motors, any car that might be taken to the track by its owner - like the Corvette, Camaro Z/28 (shown above) and the Cadillac CTS-V, for example - undergoes a rigorous and strenuous 24-hour test by engineers at the Milford Proving Grounds, as pointed out by Car and Driver.
We've posted on this topic in the past - on a video showing the Camaro ZL1 being brutalized, for instance - but this article gives a more in-depth look at what actually happens behind the scenes... including what that poor ZL1 went through. Though the test isn't for 24 hours straight, the cars are pushed as hard as possible by some of GM's best drivers with only the brakes and tires replaced frequently.
We don't want to ruin the fun for you, but it is an interesting article that tells just some of what GM does to develop its sports cars. Check out the full article over at Car and Driver for the rest of the story.
