SELLING THIS CAR FOR A FRIEND WHO DOES NOT HAVE A COMPUTER.  A HARD TO FIND CAR CONSIDERED BY CADILLAC CLUBS AND COLLECTORS TO BE HIGHLY DESIRABLE.  AN AACA FULL CLASSIC.  A DRY CAR WITH LITTLE OR NO RUST, IT HAS BEEN KEPT INSIDE - BODY PANELS ARE SOLID AND STRAIGHT.  FIRST TIME OFFERED FOR SALE TO THE PUBLIC.  PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR HAS A HOLE THE SIZE OF A QUARTER WHICH ON INSPECTION APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN CUT TO ALLOW WIRES TO PASS THROUGH IT AT ONE TIME.

EXTERIOR

THERE IS ONE MINOR DENT IN THE LEFT FRONT FENDER ABOUT THE SIZE OF THE PALM OF YOUR HAND AND IT'S VERY SHALLOW - YOU CAN'T SEE IT UNLESS YOU ARE LOOKING VERY CLOSE.  THE ORIGINAL COLORS ACCORDING TO THE FACTORY BODY PLATE ARE CRYSTAL BLUE AND OCEANANA BLUE.  MOST OF THE CHROME LOOKS VERY GOOD, BUT NOT SHOW QUALITY BUT CAN BE POLISHED OR REPLATED ECONOMICALLY.  A FEW PIECES MIGHT NEED REPLATING.  THE STAINLESS CAN BE POLISHED TO LOOK PERFECT.  ALL PARTS APPEAR TO BE WITH THE CAR.  THERE ARE NO APPARENT OR KNOWN MISSING PARTS EXCEPT FOR THE AIR CLEANER.  MOST OF THE GLASS IS IN GOOD CONDITION EXCEPT FOR A FEW PIECES THAT WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED.  IT IS ALL FLAT GLASS EASILY OBTAINED.

INTERIOR

THE INTERIOR STYLING LOOKS MUCH LIKE A ROLLS ROYCE.  THE ORIGINAL GOLD BROCADE HEAVY GRADE  FABRIC ON THE SEATS APPEARS TO BE UNDERNEATH BUT THE CURRENT FABRIC IS CLOSE TO THE ORIGINAL.

OTHER

THE CAR RAN WHEN PARKED SEVERAL YEARS AGO.

MY FRIENDS RELATIVE STARTED TO RESTORE THE CAR:

1).  REMOVING PARTS AND GENERAL PREPARING FOR REPAINT AND RESTORATION.

2).  HE PASSED AWAY SUDDENLY BEFORE FINISHING THE PROJECT.

3).  NOW RELUCTANTLY THE FAMILY HAS DECIDED TO PART WITH THE CAR.

4).  THEY WANT IT TO GO TO A NEW OWNER WHO WILL APPRECIATE AND PRESERVE IT.

THE FRAME AND UNDERSIDE APPEARS TO BE VERY CLEAN.  IN MY OPINION THE CAR DOESN'T NEED A FRAME OFF RESTORATION.  THE CAR HAS UNDERCOATING IN SOLID CONDITION.  THE CAR NEEDS RESTORATION BEFORE DRIVING.  I HAVE DESCRIBED THIS CAR AS BEST AS I CAN FOR MY FRIEND.  YOU CAN INSPECT THE CAR BEFORE BIDDING IF YOU PREFER.  SEND A MESSAGE THROUGH EBAY TO SETUP AN APPOINTMENT.  I WILL ANSWER ANY AND ALL QUESTIONS TO THE BEST OF MY ABILITY.  THANK YOU FOR READING THE AD!

2013 North American Car and Truck/Utility of the Year finalists announced [w/poll]

Wed, 12 Dec 2012

2012 is almost in the books and automakers are spending December gearing up for the 2013 auto show season, which tips off next month at the Detroit Auto Show. Traditionally, the latter opens up with the announcement of the North American Car and Truck/Utility of the Year awards, and this year figures to be no different.
But up until this moment, we didn't know which six vehicles would be parked ahead of the stage as finalists, with executives and engineers waiting for the winners to be disclosed. Whittled down from October's "short list" of nominees (11 cars and 10 truck/utility vehicles), the finalists are as follows:

Cadillac ELR, Nissan Resonance and Ford Atlas win Eyes on Design awards

Fri, 18 Jan 2013

This year's annual Eyes on Design awards were presented at the end of press days for the Detroit Auto Show on Tuesday. Given out for the best production and concept car designs that debuted at the show, and voted on by an esteemed panel of actual car designers, this year's award for best production vehicle design went to the 2014 Cadillac ELR. The 2014 Chevrolet Corvette, which was the show favorite among Autoblog editors, apparently did not impress the Eyes on Design judges enough with its all-new vent-festooned design.
The award for best concept design was actually split as a tie among the Nissan Resonance and Ford Atlas concepts. Last year's winners were the 2013 Ford Fusion and the Lexus LF-LC concept.
The Eyes on Design organization also presented a new honor this year called the Catalyst Award to Bob Lutz, former Vice Chairman of General Motors. Lutz is reported to have given a defense of design in his acceptance speech, arguing that advancements in quality across the industry as a whole have made good design a key differentiator for buyers.
