This Cadillac was declared a total loss by my insurance company. It was involved in a front-end collision, which damaged the right side of the hood, the headlamp bracket, and paint on the front bumper and corner of the right fender. The damage was repaired, although imperfections can still be seen upon very close inspection. The original hood was repaired, and the right front headlamp assembly replaced. The paint was blended, but the repair is noticeable upon inspection. The hood-gap is off-center.
56,532 miles. Runs and drives flawlessly. Recent tires and brakes. Factory sunroof, aftermarket rear spoiler and canvas imitation convertible top, and hand-painted pinstripe. Bose audio, 12-disc changer in the trunk, and a single CD slot in the dashboard. Heated seats, ice cold A/C, no warning lights illuminated, no fluid leaks, and passed state inspection with no trouble. Always parked indoors, never smoked in, comes with all books, and two sets of keys and remote fobs. Since this vehicle is over 10 years old, it does not require a salvage title in Massachusetts. From the Massachusetts RMV: "Passenger vehicles ten (10) or more model years old at the date of the event, which caused the vehicle to be declared a total loss, are exempt from the salvage title process. These vehicles will carry a Reconstructed Prior Salvage brand." Please check with your insurance company, or applicable state laws, before bidding on this car. |

Cadillac CT6 ushers in new naming convention
Wed, 24 Sep 2014Johan de Nysschen has been at his new post as president of Cadillac for not even three months , but he's already seen two of his most notable accomplishments from his two-year tenure as president of Infiniti matched by Cadillac. The brand has announced that it is relocating its headquarters, and is now officially changing its nomenclature.
The brand's new flagship model will abandon the familiar three-letter designation enjoyed by every other model in the range (aside from the Escalade), and adopt an alpha-numeric title. So, rather than the expected title of LTS, Cadillac's top-end car will be called the CT6.
Of course, this won't be limited to just one model. According to Cadillac's press release, "familiar lettering like 'CT' would be used for car models, with the number indicating the relative size and position of the cars in the hierarchy of Cadillac models." And yes, that means what you think it means - Cadillac will use the exact same naming formula, albeit with different letters, as Infiniti.
2015 Cadillac Escalade gets 8-speed auto, range-topping Platinum Collection trim
Mon, 11 Aug 2014The redesigned 2015 Cadillac Escalade is still quite fresh on the market, but the luxury brand has a host of mid-model-year updates for its massive luxury SUV that should make it an even better driver. The range-topping Platinum Collection (pictured above) is also all set to ensconce drivers in leather when it hits the road in the fourth quarter of 2014.
The entire Escalade range now gets an eight-speed automatic to replace the previous six-speed, and four-wheel drive models also get a two-speed transfer case to go along with it. New standard features include a Surround View camera system, 4G LTE connectivity, and the electric tailgate also now closes hands-free, in addition to opening that way.
To make riding in the Escalade an even more luxurious experience, Cadillac is adding a Platinum trim. Exterior changes add even more shine to the behemoth SUV with a grille wearing the redesigned brand crest, additional chrome trim, 22-inch wheels and Platinum badges. However, the interior is where things really get plush. The first and second row of seats are wrapped in Nappa, semi-aniline leather in a choice of either beige or gray. The dashboard, upper door panels and center console also get hand-stitched and wrapped leather, plus a suede microfiber headliner. Both front seats are heated and cooled with 18-way power adjustments, and the driver even gets a massaging function. Rear passengers are hardly left out, either, with 7-inch LCD screens in the headrests and a 9-inch screen in the center.

The Gas Guzzler schedule, with mpg ratings and charges that haven't changed since 1991, lays out which fuel-swillers owe what to Uncle Sam.
I started thinking about the "Gas Guzzler Tax" - considerably less well known as The Energy Tax Act of 1978 - when I was driving Dodge's new Challenger SRT Hellcat last week. Unsurprisingly for a car that can burn 1.5 gallons of gas per minute at max tilt, theoretically able to empty a full tank of premium in about 13 minutes, the Hellcat will be subject to the Gas Guzzler Tax schedule when it goes on sale.
