UP FOR SALE IS MY 1958 CADILLAC ELDORADO BROUGHAM #632. ONE OF 2 1958 BROUGHAMS IN #98 COPPER. ONE OF ONE WITH BLACK LEATHER. THE OTHER ONE HAD WHITE LEATHER. 38,704 ORIGINAL MILES. IT HAS AN OIL CHANGE STICKER FROM 1968 WITH 37,063 MILES . THE IMPORTANT FACTOR IN THESE BROUGHAMS ARE COLOR, ORIGINALITY , AND AIR SUSPENSION. THIS CAR HAS ALL THREE. HISTORY- THIS CAR WAS DELIVERED NEW IN CALIFORNIA. IT THEN WENT TO NEW YORK CITY AND HAS AN INSPECTION STICKER FROM 1975. IT THEN CAME TO TEXAS IN THE 1990'S. I DONT THINK THE CAR HAS RUN SINCE THE MIDDLE 70'S AND THE MOTOR IS STUCK. THIS IS AN ORIGNAL PAINT CAR , ORIGINAL LEATHER, ORIGINAL DRIVE TRAIN. THIS CAR HAS ALL ITS ORIGINAL AIR SUSPENSION COMPONENTS. I HAVE PUT IN WOODEN BLOCKS TO GET THE CAR HIGHER FOR TRANSPORT. THE BODY HAS SOME DINGS AND THE LEFT REAR QUARTER PANEL HAS SOME DENTS AS SHOWN. THERE ARE ALSO SOME DINGS IN THE ROOF. THE WINDSHIELD IS DECENT , NO CRACKS , BUT HAS ONE SPOT OF DELAMINATION. I HAVE A PHOTO OF THIS . RUST ISSUES- PRETTY GOOD BODY, THE BOTTOM OF BOTH FRONT FENDERS HAVE RUST AS IS TYPICAL. I DO HAVE THE LOWER FENDER MOULDINGS. THE DOORS HAVE NO HOLES. BOTH REAR FLOOR PANS HAVE SOME MINOR HOLES , AND I HAVE PHOTOS. THE FRAME HAS TYPICAL SURFACE RUST, BUT NO HOLES .THERE IS A SPOT ON BOTH REAR FENDERS ABOVE THE FENDER SKIRTS THAT HAVE A SMALL RUST AREA. CHROME- BOTH FRONT AND REAR BUMPERS NEED RESTORED AS DO SOME OF THE OTHER OUTER CHROME PIECES. THE INTERIOR CHROME IS PRETTY NICE. THE 4 MAIN WINDOWS WORK AND SOME OF THE LIGHTS WORK. THE TRUNK MOTOR WILL NOT CLOSE THE TRUNK DOWN, BUT IT LOCKS. INTERIOR- THE 4 DOOR PANELS ARE GOOD. HEADLINER IS GOOD, JUST DIRTY, THE 4 PLASTIC ROOF COURTESY LENSES ARE GOOD. THE BACK SEAT IS GOOD, FRONT SEAT IS GOOD EXCEPT FOR A SEPERATION IN THE SEAM ON THE DRIVER UPPER CUSHION AS SHOWN. THE BACK OF THE FRONT SEAT IS GOOD. THIS INTERIOR IS ORIGINAL . Cadillac dealers frustrated over Escalade production snarls
Wed, 20 Aug 2014Lincoln went through it during the launch of the MKZ last year, Jeep went through something similar with its Cherokee launch, and now the 2015 Cadillac Escalade has apparently caught the bug: dealer delivery delays because of quality control checks. Automotive News reports that Cadillac dealers have been waiting three times longer than usual - a month or more - from the time an Escalade leaves the assembly line to when it gets delivered. Worse, dealers are saying they don't always know where their vehicles are in transit, or when they are set to arrive. The situation has upset customers who have put down deposits and things have gotten so bad that some dealers have reportedly stopped taking pre-orders.
Cadillac says it has the delay, called "dwell time," down to two weeks, and it expects to cut that to a week by the beginning of September. The company said "a lengthy quality-assurance process on some interior parts" has caused the lag, the report citing additional issues with figuring out which vehicles should be delivered first. A spokesman said that more trucks have been put in the distribution system to work through the backlog, but it's clear it's still going to take some time to set things right, with one dealer telling AN that cars ordered in February and March still haven't arrived.
Brand chief Kurt McNeil said additional personnel are at the Escalade's Arlington, Texas factory to speed up the checks, and spreadsheets tracking every order have been distributed to field staff. Even with the snafu, though, the Escalade is Cadillac's best seller through July.
Cadillac snags de Nysschen from Infiniti, names him new president
Fri, 11 Jul 2014Johan de Nysschen, the (now former) president of Infiniti, has officially jumped ship. The 54-year-old, who also spent time as the chief executive for Audi USA, has taken the position of president at Cadillac, following a two-year stint at the Nissan-owned luxury brand. In his new role, the 54-year-old will be responsible "for all aspects of Cadillac globally," according to a statement from General Motors.
"Johan brings to our company vast experience in the development and proper execution of luxury automotive brands," said GM President Dan Ammann, de Nysschen's new boss. "With over 20 years in this exact space, especially in the development of the Audi brand, his track record proves he is the perfect executive to lead Cadillac for the long term."
"I have for some time now been impressed by how the new General Motors has been transformed into a formidable force in the industry," de Nysschen said in a statement. "The combination of strong corporate leadership and exceptional engineering resources presents the perfect combination to restore Cadillac to its place among global premium brands."
Cadillac planning more Vsport models
Wed, 28 Aug 2013There's a new intermediate class of luxury performance cars emerging. Audi has been doing it for years with its S-line bridging the gap, in many cases, between the standard fare and the full-on RS performance range. BMW's getting in on it with the M Sport line slotting in below the full M models. And now Cadillac is joining the fun with its Vsport offerings.
Models like the CTS Vsport and XTS Vsport are packing a new 3.6-liter twin-turbo V6 with 410 or more horsepower (along with bigger wheels and brakes) to slot in between the standard model and any impending V variant. Well, it appears Cadillac isn't about to stop there.
Speaking with The Detroit News, Cadillac product chief Hampden Tener revealed that, based on the response to the XTS Vsport, the brand is planning more Vsport models. He did not, however, indicate which would be the next to get the slightly sportier treatment. With the full ATS-V expected to pack a version of the same engine powering the aforementioned XTS and CTS Vsport models, an ATS Vsport would have to pack a smaller engine to fit in below. That only leaves the SRX crossover, Escalade SUV and the upcoming ELR hybrid. Food for thought.
