1957 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz, This car was a restoration project that was left in the shop and never finished.  The car came in white with a black and white interior.  The body is done right and painted sitting on a restored chassis.  The engine is totally rebuilt, but not in the car. Also the engine is non number matching. The correct dual quads with air cleaner come with the car.  The car has a good correct numbered title. Also going with the car is a 1957 Coupe Deville with factory air. The Coupe deville comes with bill of sale only.  The bad news is a number of parts are missing from the car.  Everything from the doors forward are the same as the coupe deville, which comes with this car.  The parts are in two locations, so when I start bringing things together the parts may show up.  If they do they will go with the car, but for this auction assume the parts are not found.

The parts I know are present specific to the Biarritz are, rear bumpers, rear license plate surround, tail lights, rear quarter windows, vent windows, 3 front fender spears, trunk closer, front door pulls, saber wheels, and the large quarter panel stainless.

Things I have not seen, Tail fin chrome spears, rear speaker, inside mirror, one front fender spear, tub stainless, in and out front window stainless, rear seat, and the hard boot.  I also could be forgetting something.  Like I said when I start putting the parts together the missing parts may show up, but for this auction assume the parts are missing.  This car is sold where is as is.  Make your inspections and ask your questions before you bid.  Shipping is buyers responsibility, but I will help load and arrange.  Payment in full is due within 7 days of auction end by bank transfer. E-mail with questions or call 630-542-0031.  Thank You!

GM recalling another 2.7 million vehicles in five separate campaigns

Thu, 15 May 2014

The recalls keep rolling in from General Motors, evidently keen to avoid repeating the mistakes of the ignition-switch debacle and clean house. This time they're all coming at once, with five separate recalls announced together covering approximately 2.7 million vehicles.
The largest of the five actions involves over 2.4 million units of the previous-generation Chevrolet Malibu and Malibu Maxx, Pontiac G6 and Saturn Aura in order to fix brake light wiring harness, which have been found to be susceptible to corrosion. The recall is separate from the 56k Aura sedans which GM recently recalled over faulty shift cables, not to mention the previous massive recall of 1.3 million vehicles - some of them the same models - but appears to have resulted from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigation that started with the G6 almost a year ago.
The second-largest campaign involves the 2014 Chevy Malibu, specifically those fitted with GM's 2.5-liter engine and stop/start system, approximately 140,000 examples of which has been found to have problematic brakes. The issue does not appear to be connected to the recall of 8k Malibu and Buick LaCrosse sedans (also involving brake woes) which we reported upon last week. Four crashes have been reported in such models, but GM admits it's not yet clear if the problem was a contributing factor in the accidents.

Cadillac to launch Super Cruise semi-autonomous technology in two years [w/video]

Sun, 07 Sep 2014

We all know that self-driving cars are coming. It's not so much a question of If so much as When. And when it comes to General Motors products, we now have something of a date to work with, as Cadillac has announced plans to roll out what it is calling Super Cruise technology in an unnamed new model within the next two years. As you would expect, this new tech can speed the car up, slow it down and keep it in its intended lane, but GM isn't expected to release a fully self-driving car, saying that it will still require "an attentive driver."
We're not quite sure what new model Cadillac will use to launch this new technology, but our best guess would be its upcoming LTS sedan. Other possibilities may include a new crossover - we've heard rumors of CUVS coming from Caddy both above and below the current SRX - or entry-level sedan, but those seem less likely than a high-dollar flagship like the LTS.
The next techy bit of kit currently being shown off by Cadillac engineers includes vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-infrastructure communication, technology which would seemingly allow cars to travel in close proximity to one another, with less danger of collisions. According to our friends at Engadget, GM is working with the University of Michigan to outfit some 120 miles of roads in and around Detroit, MI, with the requisite sensors to make all this technology possible.
