2 Door Hardtop Black Plate California Car Very Strong Survivor on 2040-cars

US $18,000.00
Year:1962 Mileage:106000
Location:

Berkeley, California, United States

Berkeley, California, United States

A true survivor!  Very strong 1962 Cadillac Coupe DeVille 2 door.  I am the 3rd owner and this car has always been in Northern California.  Had the car sorted a few years ago by a respected mechanic.  All records available documenting work.  Clear California title good through sept. 2015.

The Good:

New Motor Mounts
rebuilt carb
completely rebuilt radiator
new brake hoses
new water pump
new battery
new fuel pump
new plugs
new distributor
new bushings and tie rods/struts/ball joints
new electronic ignition
aftermarket cd player under dash w/ strong speakers laid into back panel above the back seats (purists might not like this but cranking up your favorite music in this car is a necessity!!)  Not hard to remove.

I had a small bit of rust removed from one rocker and the back window removed (typical trouble spot) and a tiny but of rust removed from back window well.  Og window reinstalled with new gasket seal.

The bad:

light surface rust on the underside of the trunk door
rear chrome bumper has some light crust which I couldn't remove with steel wool
some rust on the chrome window where driver side window goes up and down
power seats and a/c are currently inoperable  (i don't need a/c in northern california so did not address this)

This car sits right in the middle between a junker and a showcar on the spectrum.  It runs strong and looks great but could use a little tlc to really take it up the next notch or two.  Even if you did not do any additional work, you would have a strong and attractive 62 caddy in the much preferred 2 door style.  I am personally drawn to the hardtops and this car is a pleasure to drive.

Feel free to contact me with any questions or for addt'l photos.  The sale price is well below what I have put into the car.

Thanks for taking a look.

Cadillac XTS to become Opel flagship sedan?

Tue, 24 Jul 2012

According to Auto-News.de, Opel is considering using Cadillac's all-new big sedan, the XTS, as the base for its new flagship car, which would likely carry the name Omega.
WorldCarFans.com speculates that Opel could use GM's 3.6-liter direct-injection V6 that generates 304 horsepower or, possibly, a 2.8-liter turbocharged six-cylinder engine that creates 321 horsepower to power the vehicle. The European automaker could even use a 195-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder engine in this application - fine, since many of Europe's largest sedans are powered by smaller, more efficient engines.
Regardless of power, the Omega could arrive at dealerships by the end of 2013.

Chrysler, Nissan looking into claim that their cars are industry's most hackable

Sun, 10 Aug 2014

A pair of cyber security experts have awarded the ignominious title of most hackable vehicles on American roads to the 2014 Jeep Cherokee, 2014 Infiniti Q50 and 2015 Cadillac Escalade.
Charlie Miller and Chris Valasek are set to release a report at the Black Hat hacking conference in Las Vegas, Automotive News reports. The two men found the Jeep, Caddy and Q50 were easiest to hack based not on actual tests with the vehicles, but a detailed analysis of systems like Bluetooth and wireless internet access - basically, anything that'd allow a hacker to remotely gain access to the vehicle's systems.
Considering this lack of hands-on testing, the pair acknowledge that "most hackable" could be a relative term - they point out that the vehicles may actually be quite secure.

Cadillac bids farewell to CTS-V Coupe with special edition

Mon, 12 May 2014

With the introduction of the latest Cadillac CTS, we knew it would only be a matter of time before a new CTS-V would come along. Now General Motors has revealed that the next CTS-V will arrive sometime next year, but before it does, the company is sending off the outgoing coupe with a special edition.
For 2015, the Cadillac CTS-V Coupe will come in a limited edition of 500 units decked out with a dark grille treatment, satin-finish wheels, red brake calipers and an upgraded cabin. The interior is decked out Recaro seats trimmed in black with red stitching, Midnight Sapele wood trim, metal pedals and a microsuede-trimmed steering wheel and shifter.
Buyers will be able to opt for white, gray or optional black exterior paint, an available sunroof and a six-speed transmission in either manual or automatic configuration. Of course, the 6.2-liter supercharged V8 comes standard with 556 horsepower, as does Magnetic Ride Control and brakes by Brembo. Pricing will be announced closer to launch, but in the mean time, you can read all there is to know by checking out the official release below.
