1970 Cadillac Coupe Deville All Original on 2040-cars

Pittsburg, Texas, United States

A friend of ours bought this several months ago intending to restore it but his wife said he had too many projects and wanted "that ugly thing out of their yard" so we brought it to our lot to sell for him. The previous owner was a little old lade who purchased the car in 1973 and only drove it to church on Sundays; well maybe a little more than church but not much. Sometime around 1988, the owner was no longer able to drive and the car was parked under a carport until our friend bought from her heir this year. It only shows 9,603 miles (no there is not a digit missing) because, according to the heir, the car was driven very little until it was parked and she doubted that it was ever driven out of Longview.  Although he intended to eventually get around to getting the car restored, nobody has attempted to start the car because it still has 26 year old gas in it. A jump box was hooked to the battery, not to start but only to determine that the lights, power windows, wipers, radio etc. all still work.   Despite the fact that the vehicle was stored outside, we could not find any rat nests or chewed wiring anywhere inside or out- we didn't even see any wasp nests. Neither the seats nor the top were not kept conditioned but the seats show only minor age related cracking (not even as much as the seats on my 2006 Acura). Unfortunately the Landau top did not fare as well and has major exposure damage and would need to be completely redone. The carpet has no visible wear and the headliner (board?) is in good condition but looks like the glue is finally giving up the ghost and coming down above the rear passenger side. The weather seals around the doors are also old & crumbling. The pointed lenses in the front do work and are intact but each side has a crack in the lens, none of the other lights appear to have any cracks. The passenger side front fender has a few places where the paint has flaked off and minor dent right behind them- almost like it was rubbed against a post the drivers side also has one similar place. The fender flares and hubcaps are in good condition and are being stored in the trunk to keep them from sprouting legs. The car is located at 506 S. Greer Blvd in Pittsburg TX and you are welcome to come check it out. Please feel free to email or call if you have any questions and I will do my best to answer them. Our phone numbers are (office) 903.856.1711  or (cell) 903-237-8215.

GM extending warranties on Cadillac CTS-V and Chevy Camaro ZL1 for supercharger issue

Wed, 04 Jun 2014

Okay General Motors, we've sat by and watched you recall the compact cars, crossovers and pickup trucks, and aside from reporting on it, we've been fairly quiet. This, though, this will not do. We can almost tolerate the recalls on the bread-and-butter cars, but leave the performance vehicles alone.
According to a report from The Car Connection, GM has discovered a problem with the superchargers of the 6.2-liter V8s found in the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 and the Cadillac CTS-V. Apparently, the issue rests around the internal bearing shaft grease, which can become contaminated (we aren't sure with what). If left unchecked, it'll first lead to a rattle at idle, which goes away under slight throttle. The real warning stage is when a high-pitched squeal develops, signaling that the bearing shaft has failed. Naturally, severe engine damage is the next step (although it's possible that the engine will also just refuse to turnover, although neither case is desirable).
According to TCC, GM will replace the superchargers on vehicles that have exhibited symptoms of bearing shaft failure free of charge. It will also, allegedly, be extending the warranty on all supercharged ZL1s and CTS-Vs to 10 years or 120,000 miles (whichever comes first), from the date of purchase. Officially, only 2009 to 2013 CTS-Vs and 2012 to 2013 ZL1s are suffering from this issue.

Cadillac may not build Elmiraj coupe

Wed, 20 Nov 2013

Despite the fact that most everyone who has laid eyes on the Cadillac Elmiraj concept coupe loves it, General Motors insiders are still trying to prove the business case to build the car. And it's certainly not a guarantee.
"I want to see this car go into production badly. Very badly," Ed Welburn, GM's Global Head of Design, told Autoblog. But the Cadillac design studio is busier than it's ever been before, and the company is working on prioritizing which cars deserve to get the billion-dollar price tag needed to research and develop a new model.
No matter what happens, Welburn says the car has made its mark on Cadillac

2014 Cadillac ELR

Mon, 29 Sep 2014

Well, this is awkward.
A few years ago, Audi Of America's boss Johan de Nysschen went on record describing the Chevrolet Volt as "a car for idiots." Fast-forward to earlier this summer, and the well-regarded executive suddenly found himself in a new office with new business cards bearing the title: President, Cadillac. That means that among other challenges, de Nysschen is now tasked with selling the ELR, a car that is, at its core, a Volt in a sportier, less utile frock wearing a price tag that's twice as expensive.
Frankly, it's not a prospect we imagine the South African executive and recent Infiniti boss relishes. Just about nobody is buying the ELR - Cadillac has sold but 774 examples of its plug-in hybrid coupe this year and it presently has an almost a 200-day supply according to Automotive News. What's more, those numbers actually represent big improvements over just a few months ago, before GM started heaping on the incentives. The cynic in us says that the bad news for De Nysschen is that he's got a borderline sales-proof car in his new corporate garage. The good news? Cadillac customers apparently aren't idiots.
