1990 Cadillac Allante Base Convertible 2-door 4.5l No Reserve on 2040-cars
Orlando, Florida, United States
For sale is my 1990 Cadillac Allante with no reserve. For its age, it is in great shape. It has been serviced at Allantesource in West Palm Beach, FL, a specialist on Allante's. The car came from the midwest. No rust on body but as with any car this old, the undercarrage has surface rust. I had it sprayed with a rust neutralizer for preventative sake. The car is a daily driver and not perfect. It has small dings and scratches, etc. There are two small spider cracks in the windshield but I believe they can be repaired. At some point in the cars life, the owner replaced the covers on the seats with leatherette and made them two toned. I had Allantesource spray them so the interior would completely match. The trunk release button in the center console does not work. I believe it is a loose wire and an easy fix. The top is in good shape and all electrical works properly. I had Allantesource go over it as I knew I was going to sell it and didnt want any issues. I had a new a/c compressor, dryer, etc put on it about 4 months ago. The tires are about 60-70 percent good. Feel free to come inspect or have a mechanic look at it. There is nothing that I know of wrong with the car but one this old is selling "as is" with no warranty implied. This is a great Allante and will be a fun car to own for someone. Feel free to ask any questions and good luck. |

Weekly Recap: Auto execs face life in prison for recall delays under proposed legislation
Sat, 09 Aug 2014
The stiff punishments are part of broader transportation legislation, but clearly McCaskill has automakers in her sights.
Missouri Senator Claire McCaskill threw down the gauntlet this week, proposing a bill that could send auto executives to prison for life if they were found to have delayed a recall. She also wants to eliminate the limit for fines for auto safety violations, which are currently capped at $35 million.
Akerson says Cadillac will get a larger sedan within two years
Mon, 22 Jul 2013It seems that during a recent affair showing off the 2014 Cadillac CTS, General Motors CEO Dan Akerson confirmed reports regarding a new Cadillac flagship sedan. According to USA Today, which Akerson was visiting, he said that a sedan larger than the XTS would debut within the next two years.
This matches up with what we heard earlier in the month about a Cadillac model that will go up against the BMW 7 Series and Mercedes-Benz S-Class (not a pricier, low-volume sedan also discussed in that article). But this is the first time a high-profile executive name has been attributed to such a report, and the first time a broad timeframe has been mentioned. This article adds that the unnamed car will be rear-, and all-wheel drive with a platform "loosely based" on the new CTS, with styling closer to that car than recent Cadillac concept vehicles. The XTS will continue production of course, as well.
Mercedes leads in US luxury car thefts
Wed, 31 Jul 2013Mercedes-Benz makes some fine automobiles. The Silver Arrow'd cars are so good, apparently, that thieves can't help but try to steal them. The German brand is at the top of the charts for luxury car thefts in the US, according to the National Insurance Crime Bureau, with New York City leading the way. (And those New Yorkers complain about Detroit being bad!)
The C-Class was the most stolen model, with 485 ganked between 2009 and 2012 in NYC alone, while the E-Class and S-Class (which also boasted the worst recovery rate, at 59 percent) both finished in the top ten. Following the C-Class was the BMW 3 Series and Infiniti G. Not surprisingly, each of these were the most common models in their respective lineups. Los Angeles and Miami are also prime hotspots for luxury car thefts, according to the Detroit News report.
While getting your car stolen is pretty awful, there was one inspiring statistic compiled by the NICB - the average recovery rate across the board was 84 percent, with the Cadillac CTS getting recovered 91 percent of the time.
