Very nice Allante with only 99k miles. I got the car about seven years ago from an Uncle who passed away. He was the second owner of the car, and all owners (including me) were over 60 years old.

About two years ago someone broke out the passenger side window and tried to steal it. The car had a key in the ignition that was not mine, but apparently it didn't work because the car was right where I had left it.

After the police left and I got in the car to leave it wouldn't shift out of second gear. It starts off smoothly and shifts from first to second smoothly, but won't shift from second to third, or third to fourth. I had never had any problem with the transmission prior to this incident.

It runs great in second gear and doesn't make any unusual noises so I'm certain there is no damage to internal parts. I talked to a guy who specializes in Allantes (http://www.allantesource.com/index.html), and he seems to think that the computer was messed with, which can affect shifting. He also said that a worse case scenario (about $400-500) would be the replacement of a shift modulator. The part itself is inexpensive, but requires removal of transmission to replace.

The engine runs perfectly, and exterior of the car is near perfect. Florida car with original pearl white paint that shines like new, with zero rust.  The top doesn't leak, and I had just replaced radiator and catalytic converter. I start the car up about once a month, and occasionally drive it around the block.

The drivers seat leather is in perfect condition, but the stitching has come undone on the bottom cushion. The passenger side seat is also in great condition, but you can see where the stitching is also getting ready to go.

My Uncle also got factory "Vogue" wheels and tires from the local Cadillac dealer, and paid over $3,000 for them.

This car could be one of the nicest Allante's around with around $1000-$1200 spent on it (considerably less if the computer just needs resetting). I'd keep this car and do the repairs if my finances allowed,

2014 Cadillac CTS images leak out yet again

Mon, 25 Mar 2013

It seems the 2014 Cadillac CTS just doesn't want to stay under wraps. For the second time in as many days, Caddy's next sedan is showing a bit more sheetmetal than the automaker would like before it is officially debuted tomorrow at the New York Auto Show.
This time, the leak comes from USA Today, and we've gone ahead and added them to our gallery of 2014 CTS images. As you may know, Cadillac will bestow the next CTS with an all-new twin-turbo V6 engine that will offer up an impressive 420 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque.
USA Today also mentions a new Vsport model but doesn't give any more details other than the fact that it will boast the twin-turbo engine and an eight-speed automatic transmission. Of course, all you have to do is come back to these pages for the official unveiling tomorrow afternoon for all the sordid details. In the meantime, check out the images above.

2015 Cadillac ATS Coupe prepares to fight BMW 4 Series

Tue, 14 Jan 2014

Cadillac introduced its new ATS Coupe at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show today, bringing customers an alternative to the growing range of sport luxury coupes typified by the BMW 4 Series, Audi A5 and Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe.
The ATS Coupe, as a slightly more premium offering, ditches the wheezy 2.5-liter engine found in the basic ATS Sedan, but retains the four-door's 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder and 3.6-liter V6. That four-pot turbo benefits from a fettling that has increased torque from 260 pound-feet to 295, although its peak is only available from 3,000 rpm to 4,600 rpm, unlike in the sedan, where peak twist arrives at just 1,700 rpm and sticks around until 5,500 rpm.
Power can be channeled to either the rear or all four wheels by the owner's choice of a Tremec six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission. According to Cadillac, the new Coupe can get to 60 in 5.6 seconds when fitted with the 2.0-liter turbo.

Cadillac SRX likely to see next-gen built in China

Tue, 08 Jul 2014

Here's some shocking news to no one: People love crossovers, including those living in China. Since introducing the Cadillac SRX there in 2009, the model's sales have gone through the roof. Now, the brand is considering moving some production of the next-generation model in China to eliminate import tariffs and make it an even bigger player in the market.
According to a recent report in The Wall Street Journal, the crossover is leading Cadillac's Chinese growth, despite its US-equivalent price of over $67,000 after the country's high import tariffs. The CUV's sales are up 23 percent there so far this year, and it's responsible for over 40 percent of the brand's sales. John Stadwick, General Motors' VP of sales, service and marketing in China, told the WSJ that GM could "very possibly" build the next-gen model there.
The SRX is Cadillac's golden goose in China, and it just keeps pushing the brand's sales forward. "It's the vehicle that took us out of being a small niche in the market," said David Caldwell, Cadillac Communications Manager, to Autoblog. Before the CUV, Caddy was selling a little over 20,000 cars a year there, but partially thanks to the crossover's success, the brand sold 50,000 vehicles last year and could reach 60,000 this year. "The SRX is the most popular Cadillac in that market," he said.
