For Sale: 1966 Buick Skylark two door hardtop.
I have had this car since 1993. It is a beautiful Blue and White cruiser that I have enjoyed for many years. This car was originally gold and white painted top, with a white interior. When I first purchased the car it had a power bench seat, tilt wheel, A/C, power steering, power drum brakes, remote driver's mirror and AM radio. The original engine was the 340 four barrel with two speed automatic. I have changed the car more to my liking, but kept it all Buick. The interior is now Bucket seats with console and floor shifter. I installed a four speaker AM/FM cass radio with the Buick name on the front and had the interior reupholstered in the original off white color. The front suspension was rebuilt in the 90's and has heavy duty station wagon springs with a Trans Am sway bar. The shocks are new gas units by KYB. I installed the classic Buick rally wheels (15 X 7) with BFG TA radials 235 60s (5K miles). The engine is a 71' Buick 455, bored .030 over. It was built by Valley Balancing, Ceres, Ca. and has a TA Cam (Stage 1 Type), ARP fasteners throughout and small combustion 430 heads with hardened valve seats. Compression is 9:1. They also opened up the oil passages and installed a high pressure oil pump. The 455 has a 750 cfm Quadrajet carburetor, stock exhaust manifolds and dual 2.25" exhaust. The engine sounds great and runs out strong. There is a little overheating problem at this time and I hope to have it fixed. The transmission is from a 67' GS400. It is the SP400 which is a TH400 with a switch pitch torque converter, rebuilt at Edco Trans in Fairfield, with a mild shift kit. The engine and transmission have less than 1K miles. The drive shaft is balanced with new heavy duty U-joints. The bumpers were chromed and the paint was done in 2000. The paint needs a little fixing as over the years it has some scratches and peeling as shone in the pictures.
I love driving this car. I get compliments all the time. So will you. Thank you for looking and good luck bidding.

This is a pick-up auction only. If you want it shipped, you arrange. $500 deposit due in 3 days after auction ends.

2014 Buick LaCrosse

A Nice, New Buick Aims For Middle Of The Road
Any time someone describes some portion of a car or a driving experience as being "nice," I want to either A) throttle them or B) run as fast and as far as I can from that vehicle. "Nice" is among the most insidious words in the English language - at best it's vague, and at worst, it conveys the exact opposite of its literal meaning. Yet it seems to be used with damnable frequency when it comes to verbally illustrating vehicles. "It looks really nice," or "These seats feel nice," or, heaven forefend, "It's got a nice ride," are all windy signifiers of absolutely nothing resembling a concrete opinion. "Nice" is the adjectival equivalent of meekly smiling and nodding your head.
Of course, I'm as guilty as the next person of having thrown English's least powerful descriptor around. There's even a chance that, rant aside, you'll catch me making nice in reviews to come. That's fine, but you should know that when you stumble upon such usage, past or future, that you've found a sentence in which I'm simply applying a bare minimum of effort to the task.

Facelifted Buick LaCrosse caught in China

Tue, 01 Jan 2013

Back in September, General Motors promised nine new or refreshed models for its Buick and GMC brands within 12 months, and while we've already seen what the updated 2014 GMC Sierra will look like, we're now getting our first look at what appears to be the facelifted 2014 Buick LaCrosse. Judging by a set of spy shots posted on Autohome showing a Chinese-market model, the updated sedan is getting a pretty big makeover, including a completely redesigned interior and a refreshed exterior.
From the outside, all of the usual midcycle updates have been made to the LaCrosse, including new lights and fascias. The new front end features a larger, reshaped seven-sided grille, LED-trimmed headlights and Buick's signature portholes are now mounted on the side edges of the hood to be more visible. The rear view has similarly small yet refined changes such as the new decklid with a chrome brow that stretches the full width of the car, to a more squared-off rear fascia with exhaust outlets pushed out to the corners. From the single shot we can see, the LaCrosse's new rump looks very similar to the Hyundai Equus.
The second-generation LaCrosse helped reestablish Buick as a near-premium automaker with its interior quality, and the next model could very well up the stakes even more. The new cabin design ditches the wraparound wood trim on the instrument panel and door panels for a smoother, more contemporary look. While it's hard to make out all of the changes, we can instantly see that the center stack is now more upright with fewer buttons, but the biggest news might be the cabin technology the 2014 LaCrosse might offer. Checking out the shot of the center console, we see what looks to be a pad similar to the handwriting recognition technology used by Audi, which would make this a first for GM.

eBay Find Of The Day: 1946 Tucker Torpedo Prototype II hides a secret Riviera

Thu, 10 Jul 2014

The Tucker Torpedo is one of the great what-if stories of automotive history. Preston Tucker hoped to revolutionize the industry with a car unlike any other on the road at the time. However, due to a variety of problems, he only managed build 51 vehicles before closing shop. Over time, they have become highly sought-after; In 2012, one sold for $2.65 million at auction.
That brings us to this Tucker "replica" that you see above because it might be one of the ugliest monstrosities ever put together. However, we might extend some leniency to the creator, as the vehicle isn't actually trying to replicate the classic look of the 1948 Tucker Torpedo. Instead, it is attempting to reproduce an earlier prototype from 1946 that actually features that weird, trident nose. According to the seller, his uncle built the car as a labor of love and supposedly used actual plans from Tucker as inspiration.
Underneath all of the crazy changes is a 1971 Buick Riviera powered by a 455-cubic-inch (7.5-liter) Buick V8. Some of the replica's odder modifications include the front fenders that turn with the wheels and the fin running down the back. All three headlights work, but the one in the middle is only for the high beams. Oddly, the small hinged sections on the roof are meant to open to avoid hitting your head when getting in or out. Maybe the seller's uncle was a very tall guy?
