1956 Buick Special 2 Dr Hardtop on 2040-cars

Year:1956 Mileage:92332
Location:

Up for bid is my beautiful Buick. I restored this car in 2010. The mechanical work was done by the previous owner. Rebuilt 322 cu in nail head, mild cam, tri power, heads reworked for unleaded gas, turbo 350 trans and a 9in ford rear end with 355 gears. It had about 3000 miles on it when I bought it. I did the body, paint, interior. At that time I managed Doug's Custom Paint and Body 22 years. The car was dissembled, all chrome and stainless were sent out, the body stripped to bare metal, it had never been in an accident. I did replace the rockers due to bad weather striping. It had some miner dents and we started the prep. Primed and blocked until the body was laser straight. I painted it two tone with matt urethane paint from a company called Hot Rod Flats, in a $80,000 downdraft spray booth, the finish is awesome. The dash was removed and painted the same colors in gloss with clear coat, buffed and striped. The wiring was replaced as necessary, speedo was rebuilt, all gauges were cleaned, light bulbs replaced, installed a custom auto sound radio, power antenna, and power front windows. Next I replaced the windshield and all weather-stripping from Steel rubber. I then went to the best interior shop in town, Chatsworth Upholstery, It was insulated with a Dina matt material, the upholstery was done in boat vinyl, the carpets and custom matts were cut pile. The car came with manual steering so I sent it to the hot rod shop for a late model GM steering conversion, new gear box, pump and lines. The shop removed the exhaust manifolds and sent then to a company called Xtreme Performance Heat Coatings, its a ceramic coating inside and out, better performance and cooler. The rest of the exhaust was replaced. Last the brakes are drums, the rear are ford bronco and the front are Buick just rebuilt with new cylinders, shoes and seals, it has a late model booster and stops great. I could go on and on but I think the pictures will speak for the rest. I only drive it to shows and cruse nights. Last summer I made a 250 mi trip up the California coast for a show and it cruses fine at 70. In 4 years I have only driven a over 2000 mi. If you have any questions please let me know. Thanks David and good luck you wont be disappointed.

On Mar-22-14 at 08:20:43 PDT, seller added the following information:

A couple things I forgot to mention, I converted It to a chrome one wire alternator and electronic ignition. I sent the gas tank out to be cleaned and installed a new sending unit.

Why Buick's Encore wasn't a Chevy

Wed, 31 Oct 2012

Buick is taking a gamble with its 2013 Encore. General Motors' near-luxury brand has enjoyed great success attracting conquest buyers to its larger Enclave crossover, but it has never offered something quite like this small CUV.
Very early signs suggest that the gamble might be working. According to Mark Reuss, President of General Motors, the automaker expected about 1,500 initial orders from its dealers for the Encore, but it's tracking closer to 9,000 units. Alluding to the fact that historically, Buick has shared similar products with GM's other brands, Reuss says that Buick dealers are "thrilled to have an exclusive." The automaker already markets almost identical models in other markets as the Opel/Vauxhall Mokka and Chevrolet Trax, but The General's other brands won't offer a twin to the new baby Buick.
The new Encore is based on the Gamma architecture that underpins the Chevrolet Sonic, and it shares the economy car's available turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine. With standard front-wheel drive and available all-wheel drive, GM says its Encore will be pitted against competitors like the BMW X1 and Audi Q3, both of which are much more expensive but also much more powerful.

2014 Buick Regal gets the party rolling in NY

Wed, 27 Mar 2013

Although the first day of the 2013 New York Auto Show kicks off bright and early this morning, Buick got a jump on the competition by unveiling the 2014 Buick Regal lineup last night. While the Regal received many upgrades for the 2014 model year, most of our attention was focused on the sedan's drivetrain.
When the new Regal hits dealers this fall, buyers opting for the new Regal Turbo will be welcomed by an additional 39 horsepower and 35 pound-feet of torque from the 2.0-liter turbo engine; the 2014 Regal GS now features the same output of 259 hp and 295 lb-ft, meaning that it has actually lost 11 hp over the 2013 model year. Buick says the reason for the GS' power loss comes from the fact that the newly available all-wheel-drive system forced the car to use a smaller diameter exhaust system, but representatives on hand assured us that the reduction of horsepower won't affect the car's performance and could even help improve fuel economy. And who knows? Maybe downgrading the power of the Regal GS also helps create a little breathing room for a future Grand National or GNX model...
Although the power under the hood is now the same, it is still impossible to confuse the two cars from the outside. Minor updates give both a fresher look, but the Regal GS has an unmistakeable aggression to it. The GS' interior also helps it stand apart from lower Regal trim levels with an eight-inch configurable gauge cluster similar to what is offered in the 2014 LaCrosse. The cabin of the Regal wasn't given an extensive makeover like the LaCrosse received, but the upgraded IntelliLink infotainment system and the cleaner center stack and steering wheel controls are appreciated changes.

Buick asks design students 'What could a Buick sedan look like in 2030?'

Mon, 09 Jun 2014

When you think of daring concept cars or emotional design-student projects, Buick probably isn't the first brand that comes to mind. It's not for lack of concepts; when General Motors ran down 11 concept-car highlights from Buick's 110-year history, three of them are from the past 15 years, with other experiments in that same timeframe like the Black Hawk, Centieme and Cielo left unmentioned.
But the company still thinks about them even if we don't. It ran a contest for students at Detroit's College for Creative Studies to create a Buick for the year 2030 that would incorporate future materials and transportation needs, and nanotechnology.
Best exterior design went to Sam Kenny for his Neo Classical Buick, Justin Salmon took honors for innovative material use, like having exposed algae on the bodyshell to generate energy, and Namsuk Lee nabbed best overall concept and best interior for his Buick Vision Sedan. You can read more about the design challenge and winners in the press release, and hear students talk about what went into the work in the video below.
