1987 Buick Regal Limited Turbo-T. 1 of 1035 made. Car is stock except for a Hooker cat-back exhaust. Astroroof, cruise, power windows and locks, Concert Sound II, trunk carpet kit. I've had this car for 10 years and only drive it once every couple of months to keep everything fresh. It would make a great daily driver, garage queen, or something to modify since it's been untouched it's whole life. Over the past year I replaced the speedometer cable, TCC solenoid, power window motors, battery, vacuum brake conversion, and upgraded the stereo. I put Sony speakers in the front doors and Pioneer 6x9's in the rear deck with the correct adapters. The JVC headunit has HD Radio and an AUX input for mp3 players. I have the stock headunit and Powermaster system still. The Powermaster can be shipped back to Kirban Performance for a $100 credit. I bought this car with the intentions of having something to cruise around in on Sundays once in a while and it's been great for that. Fast forward ten years and now I have kids that are getting older and a basement that needs to be finished.

Car is clean and drives well. All stock except for the exhaust. I replaced it because the original mufflers were starting to rattle inside. I rebuilt the rubber exhaust hangar at the "Y" connection and replaced the transmission mount with an HRpartsNstuff poly mount because the rubber had deteriorated. Exhaust has a nice low rumble at idle and no drone while driving. It does have the test pipe in place as the cat suffered a casualty during removal. Brakes are awesome since the Kirban conversion. I had ONE near-miss with the garage door when I still had the Powermaster. I walked inside to my computer and ordered the conversion 5 minutes later. I replaced the speedo cable at the same time because I was working right by it and the speedo used to bounce. I did the speakers and power window motors at the same time too. The stereo sounds sooo much better than stock. Nothing fancy, just better than crumbled speakers. The Regal does not smell like an ash tray because I'm a non-smoker and as far as I can tell the previous owner was not as well.

Full disclosure:
The Regal is very original and clean but as any older car it is not perfect. I will list any problems here:
Small dent in drivers door.
There is paint checking on the decklid. You do have to look close to see it but it is there.
The tops of the door panels and front seats is faded compared to the rest of the interior.
Rear main seal has a small leak, takes about a week to get a few drops on the ground.
A/C compressor is starting to get a little noisy. That just started this year. Still has R-12.
No cat. I don't have IM testing here, but if you need a cat they can be purchased from gbodyparts.com

I'm located about 45 minutes north of Salt Lake International airport so if you wanted to fly here and drive back I'd be willing to meet there, or if transporting I can deliver the car to a transporter in the Ogden or Salt Lake area.

Opel Cascada is Europe's Buick convertible [w/video]

Wed, 17 Oct 2012

As we reported earlier, there has been much speculation regarding a Buick convertible of sorts. The most ringing endorsement of this conjecture comes today from General Motors Europe, as the new Opel Cascada has debuted on the interwebs. Opel calls the four-passenger Cascada an "athletic, glamorous midsize convertible." With a length of 4,697mm (185 in.), the Cascada is as long as an Audi A5, to which GM has said it would be slightly larger.
The Cascada, which is Spanish for waterfall, features a cloth convertible top that retracts in 17 seconds and at speeds up to 50 km/h (31 mph). The Cascada features a 1.4-liter turbo gas engine, 2.0-liter turbodiesel with 165 horsepower and a range-topping 1.6-liter turbocharged Ecotec engine that puts out 170 horsepower and 280 Nm (207 lb-ft). Power is sent through either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission.
According to GM, the Cascada will also come rife with luxury and tech features. In addition to adaptive forward lighting and ergonomic heated front seats, the convertible will feature Opel Eye, which is a front camera that can recognize traffic signs and incorporates lane departure warning and forward collision alert.

eBay Find Of The Day: 1946 Tucker Torpedo Prototype II hides a secret Riviera

Thu, 10 Jul 2014

The Tucker Torpedo is one of the great what-if stories of automotive history. Preston Tucker hoped to revolutionize the industry with a car unlike any other on the road at the time. However, due to a variety of problems, he only managed build 51 vehicles before closing shop. Over time, they have become highly sought-after; In 2012, one sold for $2.65 million at auction.
That brings us to this Tucker "replica" that you see above because it might be one of the ugliest monstrosities ever put together. However, we might extend some leniency to the creator, as the vehicle isn't actually trying to replicate the classic look of the 1948 Tucker Torpedo. Instead, it is attempting to reproduce an earlier prototype from 1946 that actually features that weird, trident nose. According to the seller, his uncle built the car as a labor of love and supposedly used actual plans from Tucker as inspiration.
Underneath all of the crazy changes is a 1971 Buick Riviera powered by a 455-cubic-inch (7.5-liter) Buick V8. Some of the replica's odder modifications include the front fenders that turn with the wheels and the fin running down the back. All three headlights work, but the one in the middle is only for the high beams. Oddly, the small hinged sections on the roof are meant to open to avoid hitting your head when getting in or out. Maybe the seller's uncle was a very tall guy?

GM China President says automaker could export vehicles from China to US

Sat, 20 Apr 2013

At a press conference on Saturday at the Shanghai Motor Show, General Motors announced plans to further expand its presence in the Chinese market. Among those commitments are plans to build four new plants by the end of 2015, giving the automaker the capacity to produce around five million vehicles a year in the country.
In order to make the most of that expansion, GM is adding 400 dealerships in China this year alone (for a total of 4,200 sales points), and it's eyeing 5,100 dealers by 2015. Yet not all of that production will stay in China - GM is planning to increase exports as well. Officials estimate the company will export somewhere between 100,000 and 130,000 Chinese-built vehicles this year - a record. And it's gunning for more.
Autoblog asked GM China president Bob Socia (above) if that means the company might eventually export new vehicles built in China to the United States, and he responded:
