2004 Buick Rainier CXL 2WD

One Owner Florida Car Offered at No Reserve

A nice alternative to a Chevrolet Trailblazer or GMC Envoy.  This Rainier is in great condition both cosmetically and mechanically.

There are a few paint chips and small scratches, as to be expected for a 9 year old vehicle.  I only noted one very small and very removable ding on the right rear door.

I purchased this vehicle from my cousin in Florida with the intent of using it to tow my boat.  It was never titled in NJ and is still on the original Florida one owner clear title.  I needed something larger for the family when towing the boat, so, I ended up buying a Tahoe instead.  Now the Buick must go.  I'm out of room in the driveway!

You will not be disappointed in this vehicle!  It is finished in Indigo Blue Metallic with a nicely complimenting Light Cashmere leather interior.  The interior is also in exceptionally good condition as you can see in the photos.  The factory aluminum wheels, while slightly oxidized, have no curb rash.  A good polishing could possibly bring them back to full lustre.

There is no shortage of equipment on this vehicle, and, all operates perfectly.

The vehicle is equipped with a Vortec 4200 SFI I6 engine with 4 speed automatic transmission.  Additional mechanical items are:

  • Rear Air Suspension with Load Leveling Control - Includes air pump and original hose for tire inflation or recreational use
  • Independent front suspension
  • Bilstein shocks
  • Locking Rear Differential with 3.73 ratio
  • Trailer towing package with wiring harness
  • 4 wheel disc antilock brakes
  • 17X7" Brushed Aluminum Wheels

In terms of comfort and convenience, Rainier's come fully equipped with items to include:

  • Onstar
  • Dual Stage Front Airbags
  • Automatic Daytime Running Lights
  • Theft Deterent System
  • Fog / Cornering Lights
  • Power Heated Side View Mirrors with Integrated Signals
  • Acoustic Insultated Windshield and Side Glass
  • 8 Way Power Driver and Passenger Seat with Power Lumbar Support
  • Memory Driver Seat and Mirror
  • AM / FM Stereo with Cassette and CD with Rear Seat Audio Controls
  • Tilt Steering Wheel
  • Cruise Control
  • Automatic Dual Zone Climate Control
  • Driver Information Center
  • Remote Keyless Entry - Both Controls and Keys!
  • Split Folding Rear Seats
  • Power Windows
  • Power Door Locks
  • Power Sunroof
  • Smoker's Package, aka, coinholder, as the vehicle was never smoked in
  • Dual Function Tailgate / Tailgate Window

Original MSRP was $37,145 - Original window sticker included.

Vehicle had a recent oil change.  BF Goodrich Rugged Trail T/A P245/ 65R17 tires, while not new, have some decent life left in them.  This is really an add gas and go vehicle.

The Rainier is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction should it sell.  The vehicle is located in Andover, NJ if you would like to see it.  I'll be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Thanks for your consideration.

eBay Find Of The Day: 1946 Tucker Torpedo Prototype II hides a secret Riviera

Thu, 10 Jul 2014

The Tucker Torpedo is one of the great what-if stories of automotive history. Preston Tucker hoped to revolutionize the industry with a car unlike any other on the road at the time. However, due to a variety of problems, he only managed build 51 vehicles before closing shop. Over time, they have become highly sought-after; In 2012, one sold for $2.65 million at auction.
That brings us to this Tucker "replica" that you see above because it might be one of the ugliest monstrosities ever put together. However, we might extend some leniency to the creator, as the vehicle isn't actually trying to replicate the classic look of the 1948 Tucker Torpedo. Instead, it is attempting to reproduce an earlier prototype from 1946 that actually features that weird, trident nose. According to the seller, his uncle built the car as a labor of love and supposedly used actual plans from Tucker as inspiration.
Underneath all of the crazy changes is a 1971 Buick Riviera powered by a 455-cubic-inch (7.5-liter) Buick V8. Some of the replica's odder modifications include the front fenders that turn with the wheels and the fin running down the back. All three headlights work, but the one in the middle is only for the high beams. Oddly, the small hinged sections on the roof are meant to open to avoid hitting your head when getting in or out. Maybe the seller's uncle was a very tall guy?

2013 Buick Verano Turbo

Thu, 03 Jan 2013

Not Luxury. Not Sport. Not Buick. Not Bad.
Those of you who still think of the Buick Verano as some sort of callously badge-engineered, gussied up version of the Chevrolet Cruze ("Why would anyone spend that much money on Buick's Cruze?" you may have been heard to mutter) have got the wrong idea. Entirely. Even in its most modest form, the Verano turns out to be a sedan that is feature-rich, insulated from wind and road noise in proper luxury car fashion, pretty good to drive and not bad to look at in the new school of high-nosed pedestrian-impact-regulated fashion. In a less modest form then, one that attaches the word "Turbo" to the moniker and plops a force-fed 2.0-liter four-cylinder under the hood, the Verano is downright interesting.
Of course, "interesting" is rarely a descriptor that fills one with lust - and so it goes with this example. There are two competing forces within this near-premium subcompact sedan, and the balance struck between them must resonate with any potential customer before the Verano Turbo can become a serious purchase consideration.

First 2013 Buick Encore TV ad features... dinosaurs

Thu, 14 Mar 2013

The whole "SUVs as dinosaurs" trope has become something of a threadbare cliché among auto writers, but that doesn't mean the wider world of consumers has caught on to the Jurassic nature of our line of thinking. That's what General Motors appears to be betting on, at least. Just check out Buick's first television spot for its 2013 Encore, the tiny crossover that is pushing the Tri-Shield into territories unknown while looking to outrun the brand's reputation as a refuge for elderly clientele.
Set to air this weekend on ESPN during the NCAA college basketball tournament, the ad plays up the Encore's maneuverability and surprising interior space by setting the baby Buick amongst a herd of lumbering CG dinosaurs created by Tippett Studio, the folks behind Hollywood blockbusters like Jurassic Park, Ted, and the Twilight series of films.
We can't help but snigger a little - while the Encore is indeed surprisingly roomy, nimble, and composed, our first drive found it to be glacially slow, too... not unlike a certain prehistoric race of animals. Check out the commercial below and judge for yourself.
