1983 Buick Lesabre Hot Rod Sleeper Chevy V8 350 on 2040-cars

Year:1983 Mileage:200000
Location:

Ferndale, Michigan, United States

Ferndale, Michigan, United States

Good condition 1983 Buick Lesabre Limited. Clean title.

Well maintained. What sets this car apart from the pack is what's under the hood...

Upgrades:

  • Chevy 350 Gen I engine (4-bolt main, forged pistons)
  • polyurethane motor mounts
  • Turbo 350 lockup automatic transmission with shift kit. Firm shifts, ability to manually up and downshift.
  •  2400rpm stall torque converter
  • Edelbrock Performer RPM heads
  • Edelbrock AIR Gap RPM manifold
  • Holly 650cfm carburetor
  • Performance camshaft .500 lift (brand unknown, installed by engine builder) - rough, performance idle
  • Full roller rocker arms, performance push rods
  • Mallory Unilite optical trigger vacuum advance distributor with MSD ignition
  • Hooker headers and custom dual exhaust.
  • Electric coolant fan from Mustang (app 2005-6)
  • Stock drive shaft re-balanced with Dana yoke, 3.23 ring and pinion.
  • This car is a BEAST! Never dyno'd, but based on engine builders simulated dyno and the upgrades added, I suspect it's making between 350 and 420hp at the flywheel.
  • Other additions:
  • Cragar SS 15x8 wheels - small rust spots, but very presentable. Polish up beautifully!
  • Autometer gauges
  • Custom made Buick logo floor mats
  • Grant steering wheel
  • Custom built dual exhaust
  • Probably other stuff I can't remember..
I also have many, MANY replacement/backup parts for car.

-There is a small leak around the top of the windshield.  Should be addressed as it will let drip during heavy rain.
-Front bumper has 2 rust holes. Can be covered up but replacement would be best.

-Radio doesn't work.  Shorted when trying to put back in car.  Perhaps someone with some knowledge could fix it (it will light up), but assume it is broken.

-Rusty spots in typical spots for this car at bottom of doors and areas underneath sill plates.

GM recalls 500K Chevy Camaros for ignition-switch defect

Fri, 13 Jun 2014

General Motors issued a recall for more than a half million Chevrolet Camaros on Friday morning because of an ignition-switch safety hazard that mirrors the one at the center of the company's current crisis.
The problem affects Camaro models from the 2010 to 2014 model years. Approximately 464,712 cars are impacted in the United States, and 511,528 overall in North America. GM will alter the Camaro key to a more standard design, and will notify car owners with a recall notice in the mail.
In an announcement, the company said the ignition switches on the Camaros are fundamentally different parts than the older ignition switches found on defective cars that are responsible for killing at least 13 people and causing 54 crashes.

Cadillac, Buick and Chevy decisions impacted by worries abroad

European Concerns Drive GM, But Beware Of The French Connection
GM's bid to rationalize Europe will impact the products that will be offered domestically.
It seems that Europe is defining the future of General Motors more so than its home North American market. Having axed Saturn, Pontiac and Hummer, GM has done a fairly good job of repositioning its remaining four divisions, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Buick and GMC. Cadillac carries the luxury banner. Chevrolet is aimed at the masses with cars and trucks along with a nod to performance thanks to Camaro and Corvette. Buick bridges the premium gap between Chevy and Cadillac, while GMC offers a hardcore work/upscale proposition.

2014 Buick Regal GS AWD

Thu, 27 Feb 2014

"This is just silly," I said as I laughed my way sideways around the icy track at Circuit ICAR, a racecourse, drag strip and kart track at the Montreal-Mirabel International Airport in Quebec. It wasn't the activity that had me cracking up, though. After all, winter driving experiences aren't uncommon in this business.
No, in this particular case, it was the car that had me chuckling. I wasn't in a mad hot hatch or a rally-derived rocket - I was in a Buick. The 2014 Regal GS, to be more precise. Somehow, despite its recent product renaissance (not to mention its distant - yet storied - history of performance models), I was having a hard time believing that this attractive, turbocharged, all-wheel-drive sedan sliding around the Great White North could possibly be wearing a Tri-Shield badge on its nose.
But it was, and slide about it did. While having access to a vehicle in this setting is fairly rare, what's rarer is the fact that I've had so much exposure to it. In Mr. Ewing's recent Volkswagen Golf R drive story, for instance, his ice capades were his first experience with the new model. In my case, though, I was lucky enough to first test the refreshed Regal GS for a week back in December before flying to Quebec to drive it on the snowy, icy, winding roads of Canada's most fiercely independent province and on the track at Mirabel.
