I've been preserving this car for 35 years...JUST FOR YOU!

Originally senior-owned, purchased in Springfield, Oregon in 1959.  Still has the "Pacific Wonderland" Oregon license plates.  I bought the car in 1978 after the first owner passed away.  This is an un-restored original with only 83,114 miles.

Options:
Rare Lido Lavender metallic color - from the factory.  Flight-pitch dynaflow automatic transmission, power steering, power brakes, push-button AM radio (works!), clock.

Garage kept.  Perfect headliner.  Beautiful dash and steering wheel.  Solid body and chassis: no salt on Oregon roads means no rust!  Religiously lubed and changed oil.  Runs and drives smooooooooth!

Small potato issues:  Minor ding in right front fender (see photo).  A seam in the front seat needs to be re-stitched.
Passenger door window is cracked.  Drives great, except brakes are grabby (may need a front brake job).  Because of the safety issue of the brakes, please plan on picking up with a flatbed and having the brakes inspected/repaired before taking any trips.  Thank you!

$500 non-refundable PayPal deposit 48 hours after auction closes secures the vehicle for your purchase.  Balance must be paid in cash, in person, within 10 days or the deal is off and deposit is forfeited.  We'll go to my bank, make the deposit and transfer the title.

GM throttles back Chevy Malibu, Buick LaCrosse production over swollen inventories

Wed, 06 Feb 2013

As inventory of the Chevrolet Malibu and Buick LaCrosse continues to pile up, General Motors will be idling its Fairfax Assembly Plant for two weeks, according to Automotive News. This move comes about a month after the plant was shut down for three weeks in late December and early January for the same reason. As of January 31, the GM had a 94-day supply of Malibu stock while the LaCrosse was a little worse with a 117-day supply.
Just last week, GM announced that it would be investing $600 million in upgrading this plant, but it's unclear what future plans the company has in store for Fairfax considering slow sales of both the plant's models. We do expect a refreshed and more luxurious LaCrosse shortly and an early design update for the Malibu to be announced at some point this year, although we have had no official word as to when either will happen.

eBay Find Of The Day: 1946 Tucker Torpedo Prototype II hides a secret Riviera

Thu, 10 Jul 2014

The Tucker Torpedo is one of the great what-if stories of automotive history. Preston Tucker hoped to revolutionize the industry with a car unlike any other on the road at the time. However, due to a variety of problems, he only managed build 51 vehicles before closing shop. Over time, they have become highly sought-after; In 2012, one sold for $2.65 million at auction.
That brings us to this Tucker "replica" that you see above because it might be one of the ugliest monstrosities ever put together. However, we might extend some leniency to the creator, as the vehicle isn't actually trying to replicate the classic look of the 1948 Tucker Torpedo. Instead, it is attempting to reproduce an earlier prototype from 1946 that actually features that weird, trident nose. According to the seller, his uncle built the car as a labor of love and supposedly used actual plans from Tucker as inspiration.
Underneath all of the crazy changes is a 1971 Buick Riviera powered by a 455-cubic-inch (7.5-liter) Buick V8. Some of the replica's odder modifications include the front fenders that turn with the wheels and the fin running down the back. All three headlights work, but the one in the middle is only for the high beams. Oddly, the small hinged sections on the roof are meant to open to avoid hitting your head when getting in or out. Maybe the seller's uncle was a very tall guy?

2015 Buick Verano offered with six-speed manual after all

Mon, 09 Jun 2014

Good news, boys and girls (well, at least those of you who still like shifting for yourselves). Buick got in touch with us to correct some information that it had mistakenly announced; namely, that the 2015 Verano will lose its optional six-speed manual transmission. Apparently, that announcement was incorrect, and the compact sedan will indeed continue to offer a manual option for 2015, despite what we're certain is a low take rate. Additionally, the Desert Dusk Metallic paint that was said to come as part of an Appearance Package is no longer part of the deal. With that out of the way, we now return you to your regularly scheduled automotive-obsessive broadcast...
