86 Grand National Mint Condition Low Mileage on 2040-cars
Houston, Texas, United States
For sale is a mint condition 1986 Grand National. This GN has been owned and loved it's whole life (it shows) The car has a 3 year old paint job and has been done right. It runs, drives and shifts without issues and could be washed and used as a "show car" right now. You will be hard pressed to find a better example for this price. Everyone has a different opinion of what is "mint" I will try to describe the car best I know. Powertrain: Engine is stock 3.8 liter turbo, upgrades are prom, Ram air cleaner, fuel regulator, MAP sensor, headers and high flow exhaust. The car runs perfect with no issues. Idles nice, runs smooth and no known issues. Transmission is stock 2004R runs without issue. Rear axle is a Limited Slip G80 option 3.42 ratio (only about 50% of all GN's had limited slip G80). Exterior : All Grand Nationals came with Lacquer paint all have checked or cracked over time if exposed to direct sun for very long. This car had that problem so it was repainted 3 years ago. This car has been disassembled, striped and repainted in DuPont 2 stage basecoat/clearcoat. To give you an idea of the quality of the paint refinish, it was applied as follows : 1. Disassemble entire car, remove windows, moldings, emblems, weather strip, mirrors, and bumpers. 2. Hand sand old paint down to bare metal. 3. Apply sealer and hand wet sand. 4. Apply color primer and hand wet sand. 5. Apply base color and hand wet sand. 6. Apply clear coat 3 times hand wet sand. 7. Reassemble all trim, bumpers, emblems, windows, weatherstrip, mirrors etc. 8. One final wet sand and final buff and detail took over 6 months and 150 man hours of paint and prep. ZERO rust all original sheetmetal. New emblems, new window sweeps, new window moldings, new bumper moldings, new grill insert, new bumper inserts front and back. All original GM parts. Interior : Stock with no issues, carpet and seats perfect no rips, dash pad has no cracks, headliner is perfect, all electrical works, wipers, headlights, and turnsignals. I added a boost gauge on the pillar molding. A/C works perfect and has a new compressor and dryer. Trunk : stock with spare and jack (looks as if it was never used). I took the carpet out for pictures but it is there. (no RUST ever) Misc : Has new GNX style 16" rims with Bridgestone Potenza 245/50R16 tires. Added a remote alarm system and remote start. Has new battery, new alternator. I have the original books and factory manuals that go with the car. In closing : I would not be afraid to drive this anywhere in the USA but please realize it is almost 30 years old and most items are still original, so time alone can cause issues. I feel this car has been driven just enough to keep current but low enough to still feel as if it is "near new" condition. Feel free to ask any questions or request any pictures via email. I ask for a $500 deposit within 48 hours or auctions end and full payment with in 5 business days of auctions end. Shipping is to be paid by winning bidder. Thank you for looking and if in Houston feel free to set up a time to see the car.

GM investing $167m in Spring Hill for new midsize vehicles
Tue, 06 Aug 2013General Motors has announced a large investment in its Spring Hill, Tennessee facility. The former home of Saturn production will be getting a $167 million addition to a previously announced $183 million, to cover a pair of new midsize vehicles. The investment is expected to create 1,800 jobs at the factory.
That $350 million is being divvied up for a pair of programs at Spring Hill. The first will take the bulk of the money ($223 million) and create 1,000 of the 1,800 jobs, while the other will take the remaining $127 million and generate the leftover 800 positions. But GM says the investment will cover "midsize vehicle programs." So what could they be?
The leading candidate in our minds is a new crossover for Buick, called the Anthem, that will slot between the Encore and Enclave, but will be slightly smaller than the Equinox and Terrain. As we've explained, the new model will likely be the first product to sport GM's new D2UX platform, which will eventually replace both the Delta and Theta platforms. Spring Hill is already building the Equinox, so there could be some credence to this theory.
Buick to add more GS models?
Fri, 29 Nov 2013Buick may not be the first name that comes to mind when you think of performance automobiles, but fans of the brand know what letters to look for. If you believe the reports, there's a new GNX and Grand National on the way, but in the meantime, Buick may offer more GS models to fill the void.
Currently, the Regal is the only model available as a GS (pictured above), packing the same 259-horsepower turbo four as the Regal Turbo but enhanced with key suspension, brakes and rolling-stock upgrades. As Car and Driver notes, similar upgrades could easily be applied to the Verano and LaCrosse, although maybe not the Encore or Enclave crossovers. Of course, Buick would still have to steer clear of Cadillac's Vsport line, but that doesn't mean it doesn't have a little room to play.
Opel Insignia OPC Sports Tourer shows its fresh face ahead of Frankfurt debut
Thu, 22 Aug 2013Drive down the Autobahn and there's any number of vehicles likely to pass you, and most of them are produced locally. But if you're wondering how that Opel left you in its dust, look closely (and quickly) enough and you might make out the letters OPC on the back.
They stand for Opel Performance Center (the German counterpart to Vauxhall's VXR line) and they adorn performance versions of the Corsa, Astra and Insignia. The latter is undergoing a bit of a refresh and is expected to debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in a couple of weeks, but you don't have to wait that long as our intrepid spy photographers have caught it in the flesh outside an Opel facility in Germany.
Spied here completely undisguised in Sports Tourer (read: wagon) form, the Insignia has had a few nips and tucks performed, but we'll be more intrigued to see what it's got under the hood. The current model packs a 2.8-liter twin-turbo V6 driving 325 horsepower to all four wheels, but rumors suggest that the OPC (yeah you know me!) could have as much as 400 hp up its sleeve. That would make this one heck of a sleeper - especially in wagon form - and only make us pine for a more potent version of its twin Buick Regal to roam our highways, too.
