1989 Buick Electra Estate Station Wagon.

This was a one-owner car until I bought it in 2006.

Beautiful collector quality. Gorgeous black with woodgrain - even back when these wagons were common, black was a seldom seen color.

Paint is glossy and smooth.

Woodgrain is in exceptional condition with only a few minor nicks.

All chrome and bright trim is in excellent shiny condition - no cloudiness, no pitting.

Vinyl bumper fillers are all in great condition - and original - as this car was always kept garaged.

Tan interior with cloth seats. Very clean, very nice. Last year for the woodgrain upper door panels that match the outside woodgrain - a very classy styling feature.

Interior was never smoked in. Headliner is still in great shape.

73,800 miles. All original. Always garaged and cared for. Straight. Clean. No rust repairs anywhere, ever.

Runs and drives beautifully. Idles smooth. No leaks underneath. 5.0 liter 307 V8 engine - uses no oil.

Automatic transmission shifts properly and works perfectly. No leaks.

Needs nothing. Everything works - including the air conditioning, and power antenna (which I currently have unplugged to keep it from wearing out like almost all did).

Loaded with almost everything available in 1989 - including the more uncommon options - like twilight sentinel, illuminated outside key locks, fiber optic light monitors on the top front fenders, and electronic automatic climate control.

I added the Buick aluminum wheels with the small centers and exposed chrome lug nuts. Originally came with the wire spoke wheel covers - which I still have if you prefer that look.

Tires are a matching set of 4 in excellent condition. Deep tread.

Buick has best sales year ever, delivers over 1M cars globally

Wed, 08 Jan 2014

If there are any lingering doubts why General Motors held onto Buick while killing Pontiac, Hummer and Saturn, one only has to look at the sales numbers from 2013 for the real answer. Thanks largely to strong sales in China, Buick set a global sales record last year by selling more than one million vehicles.
The lion's share of Buick sales came from China, which sold more than 809,000 units - about four times more Buicks than were sold in North America as a whole. In the US, the Buick Encore accounted for almost half of all US sales with 97,311 units as Buick spent the summer trying to keep up with demand of the subcompact crossover. Likewise, China-only models like the GL8 minivan and Excelle sedan (same as the US-spec Verano) were strong sellers in that market.
For good measure, Buick more than doubled its sales in Mexico with 2,319 units. Scroll down for the full press release.

GM warning 800,000 owners that their cars may need oil changes more frequently than they say

Fri, 05 Apr 2013

The days of changing your engine oil every 3,000 miles are long gone thanks to most cars having automatic oil monitoring systems, but about 800,000 General Motors vehicles apparently have incorrect monitoring software that is leading to premature engine component wear. According to Autoweek, certain 2010-2012 Buick LaCrosse, Regal, Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain models equipped with 2.4-liter four-cylinder engines could be going too long in between oil changes resulting in a higher-than-normal number of warranty claims for the engine's balance chain. The balance chain links the balance shaft to the crankshaft, and a worn one can produce higher noise levels.
As a fix, GM dealers will be reprogramming the software for the monitors in an effort to reduce the interval between oil changes, which varies based on driving habits and conditions. Through February 2015, the software update will be done at no cost to vehicle owners, but since this is not a recall, after that point, it will be up to the discretion of dealers as to whether or not they will charge for the service. What isn't immediately clear is whether GM plans on giving assistance to out-of-warranty customers who are experiencing engine issues from the worn chain.

Answering The $30,000 Entry-Level Luxury Question
Twenty years ago, a comparison between an entry-level Buick and Acura would have matched a Skylark against an Integra.
Twenty years ago, a comparison between an entry-level Buick and its Acura equivalent would have matched a Skylark against an Integra. The unfair battle would have resulted in the compact American's defeat in nearly every measurable category, as the Japanese competitor was arguably at the height of its powers.
