1957 Buick Century Convertible, a real red /red car very rare but incomplete

This is where the eye rolling starts and the timid lose interest.  This car was a very original complete car when it was sold to the owner of a restoration facility in 1995.  The facility took the car apart, completely apart and sent the body and frame to a shop for blasting and repairs.  The  primed frame is pretty decent from what i can see, the body shell has floor rust, some rocker rust, nice quarters, some trunk rust out, particularly in the wheel well.  The car has the vin plate on the door post and the trim plate on the cowl. That plate reads 57-66c, 57-4667x,3895, 600, 1MM,bfgj. So its the real deal, a very rare color combination when red and white was popular and this is double red.  So much for the good part!   I have a copy of the title and the owner of the shop who bought the car promises the actual title is available in his records but i have NOT seen it yet.  Hmmmm.  I purchased everything as is but i have a great relationship with shop owner and he will help .

The rest of the parts. A partial list of the actual parts i have which came off the car are as follows.  Fenders not bad, hood, trunk, doors one dented, stainless trim, bumpers, 2 57 grilles one real nice, most if not all other chrome like headlight trim, window frames etc. Some extra chrome.  Top assembly frame , steering column, wheels, many wheel covers, the entire rear end, the dash, at least the front seats, the rear interior side panels, radios, door interior panels, window glass and chrome trim and vents,  tons of misc mechanical parts and trim parts.  MISSING..DRIVETRAIN, WINDSHIELD,FRONT SUSPENSION.

This is the right car for someone with a running 4 dr. parts car or someone who collects 57 buicks.  i have a lot of nice 56 buick stuff as well but they are not in this sale.....yet.  I realize this is a bizarre listing but i want to try it out and will be happy to talk to serious interested parties if it doesnt sell at auction.  I really want the buyer to come see it, i will be happy to put them up if they provide info that make me and family feel secure.  I would prefer to answer questions in direct emails but may struggle through them and post them.  i dont expect this to be an easy process but i am praying for someone to come along who knows what this is and has the where-with-all to deal with a project of this scope.  thanks to all for being understanding.

2014 Buick Regal GS AWD

Thu, 27 Feb 2014

"This is just silly," I said as I laughed my way sideways around the icy track at Circuit ICAR, a racecourse, drag strip and kart track at the Montreal-Mirabel International Airport in Quebec. It wasn't the activity that had me cracking up, though. After all, winter driving experiences aren't uncommon in this business.
No, in this particular case, it was the car that had me chuckling. I wasn't in a mad hot hatch or a rally-derived rocket - I was in a Buick. The 2014 Regal GS, to be more precise. Somehow, despite its recent product renaissance (not to mention its distant - yet storied - history of performance models), I was having a hard time believing that this attractive, turbocharged, all-wheel-drive sedan sliding around the Great White North could possibly be wearing a Tri-Shield badge on its nose.
But it was, and slide about it did. While having access to a vehicle in this setting is fairly rare, what's rarer is the fact that I've had so much exposure to it. In Mr. Ewing's recent Volkswagen Golf R drive story, for instance, his ice capades were his first experience with the new model. In my case, though, I was lucky enough to first test the refreshed Regal GS for a week back in December before flying to Quebec to drive it on the snowy, icy, winding roads of Canada's most fiercely independent province and on the track at Mirabel.

J.D. Power: Mini, Lexus again offer most satisfying sales experience

Thu, 29 Nov 2012

JD Power has released its annual Sales Satisfaction Index Study, and once again Mini and Lexus have taken top honors. Overall, buyers are more satisfied with the auto-buying sales experience than they were last year, with those surveyed reporting an average score of 664 points on a 1,000-point scale. That's up from 648 in 2011. Dealer satisfaction also increased by five points over last year as well.
All told, Lexus brought home an index score of 737, which was high enough to put it atop the luxury brands for the second year in a row. JD Power says Infiniti came in second in that category with a score of 728 and Cadillac rounded out the podium with it's rating of 725. Speaking of Infiniti, that brand saw the single largest jump in sales satisfaction of any brand on the survey, popping up 52 index points over 2011.
Among mass-market brands, Mini ranked highest with a score of 712, followed closely by Buick with 706 and GMC farther down the line with 683. You can check out the full press release below for more information.

What's in a trademark? Sometimes, the next iconic car name

Thu, 07 Aug 2014

The United States Patent and Trademark Office is a treasure trove for auto enthusiasts, especially those who double as conspiracy theorists.
Why has Toyota applied to trademark "Supra," the name of one of its legendary sports cars, even though it hasn't sold one in the United States in 16 years? Why would General Motors continue to register "Chevelle" long after one of the most famous American muscle cars hit the end of the road? And what could Chrysler possibly do with the rights to "313," the area code for Detroit?
