2000 BMW Z3 2.3 Sport

32,289 Actual Miles

Check this out this fantastic Z3!  I wish I could find cars like this every day, but alas you get to kiss many frogs before you find a prince..  This car is the prince of 14 year old Z3s for sure.  Metallic Black on Black Leather, 2.5 6 Cylinder, 5-Speed, Power Heated Leather Seats, Sport Package, Luxury Package, HK Sound, Power Top..  This Z3 got every option that they came with as far as I can tell.

This is one of those cars that has never had a bad day.  As you can tell by the low miles, the car was used very rarely.. It was stored indoors and never abused.  There are no scratches or dings and the paint is 100% original and factory sprayed.  The leather is soft and supple and very black showing little wear if any.  All the options work as they should and everything is BMW correct including the windshield and tires.  I would score the Continentals at 65%+.

The Z3 still has all its books, window sticker, both the keys and also the cover for the top and rear glass protector.

The BMW performs exactly as it should in all aspects.  The motor runs flawlessly and is fully serviced.  It leaks nothing and never smokes.  The transmission shifts smoothly though all of the gears and the clutch is in excellent condition too.

The suspension and steering are tight and very responsive.  The brakes stop straight and true and the car never wanders on the roads.

The A/C blows ice cold and the power windows and top are fast and seal perfectly even through a high pressure brushless car wash.

The BMW is clean and tight and runs fantastically.  These cars are getting harder to come by as time goes on in this condition.  Bid with confidence..  This is a Z3 anyone would be proud of.

I am selling the BMW with a LOW RESERVE and I know it will sell the first go around as long as we all play by these rules.

BMW expects China to pass US as its top market in 2013

Thu, 11 Jul 2013

When you combine two billion citizens, 100 cities with more than a million inhabitants and an economy that's as unrestrained as Jim Cramer on an Adderall binge, China's explosive auto industry growth shouldn't be a huge surprise. Audi already lists the communist country as its largest market, while Mercedes-Benz is expecting it to be there in the next few years. Now, according to a report from Automotive News, BMW is expecting the People's Republic to overtake the United States in sales by the end of 2013.
We already discovered the extent that BMW is going to in establishing a dedicated Chinese stronghold, when we explored BMW's Shanghai-based DesignWorks studio ahead of April's Shanghai Motor Show. And while we argued that DesignWorks Shanghai hasn't really borne fruit, it isn't due to a lack of sales.
BMW China has seen a 16-percent jump in year-over-year sales, lead by a 28-percent gain in 5 Series sales. Part of BMW's growth strategy comes from an ever-expanding dealership network. Remember those 100 cities we mentioned with over one million people? According to Karsten Engel, CEO of BMW's Chinese operations, those 100-million-plus city dwellers don't have access to a premium dealership.

BMW mulled ten, eight, and six-cylinder engines for i8 before going hybrid

Wed, 09 Oct 2013

There's little doubt that the 2015 BMW i8 is one of the most radical and groundbreaking performance cars this industry has seen in a long time. From its unique carbon-intensive construction to its 1.5-liter, three-cylinder and electric motor plug-in powertrain to its concept-car appearance, the flagbearer for BMW's new i venture challenges the very notion of what it takes to be a supercar.
Yet apparently the i8 almost didn't do that at all. Yes, it probably still would've had innovative assembly techniques, serious performance and come-hither bodywork, but according to a new report in the Telegraaf, it was very nearly a much more conventional beast, drawing its power from a V10 engine. According to the report, that line of development never got much beyond the drawing board, but BMW engineers then shifted their focus to both V8 and six-cylinder motivation, going so far as to build prototype cars. The higher cylinder-count engines were eventually dropped altogether after BMW decided to turn the i8 into a hybrid, with the six-cylinder reportedly nixed due to heat management and weight issues. In the end, of course, BMW went with the PHEV powertrain that offers a total system output of 362 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque - plenty of thrust for this lightweight, all-wheel drive coupe while still enabling an incredible 94 miles to the gallon on the EU cycle. Regardless of how it turned out, it's still fascinating to think that BMW didn't have a much firmer conceptual idea of what it was after when it started the i8's development.
Here at Autoblog, we're genuinely thrilled about this new generation of greener hybrid super- and hypercars, a movement spearheaded by the i8, Porsche 918 Spyder, Ferrari LaFerrari and McLaren P1. But even so, our inner-gearheads can't help but wonder what might have been had BMW pursued a more conventional i8, either in place of, or in addition to, the car they did build. What do you think? Researchers halfway to cutting carbon fiber costs by 90%

Wed, 15 Oct 2014

Carbon fiber has been utilized for decades to build racecars, as a means to cut weight while maintaining strength. But until recently, the space-age material has been largely absent from the street on anything but supercars because of the expense to use it. Recently, BMW signaled a major shift in that trend when it starting using carbon fiber reinforced plastic panels on the i3 and i8. This relatively small scale start might be just the beginning; the German company believes that a breakthrough to inexpensively manufacture the lightweight stuff is just on the horizon.
MAI Carbon Cluster Management GmbH counts BMW, Audi, Airbus, the German government and many other organizations as supporters, and it's researching how to make carbon fiber cheaper to produce, according to Automotive News Europe. The company thinks it can reduce costs by 90 percent in the near future. "We've certainly reached a halfway point on our cost-cutting target for suitable carbon-fiber parts," said project head Klaus Drechsler to Automotive News Europe.
Unfortunately, it isn't entirely clear just what MAI Carbon is doing to make such a huge leap possible. However, a recent post on the company's website talks about a new form a carbon fiber using a thermoplastic matrix that could be cured in less than three minutes. That's compared to about 90 minutes in the traditional process with an autoclave.
