1991 BMW 850i. Owned by a mature responsible gentleman owner. Serviced by the brother of the owner who is a BMW mechanic. Super rare car. Original paint. Super rare blue color. Supposedly only 220 6 speed edition car were imported to the United States. Comes with an Eclipse am/fm c.d. player. Stock 6 speed transmission. The boot around the shifter is worn. Also the paint itself looks really nice except for a few minor scratches here and there. Missing a piece of trim on left fender and a few dimples in the driver's door near the rocker panel. Has factory moonroof. It is electric and currently unplugged because new seals were put in. Has new low profile tires with less then 1000 miles on them. And BMW M-6 19" wheels from a 2010 M-6 Beemer. Engine is the stock V-12 fuel injected motor.Top end of engine has been resealed an entire new custom exhaust system has been installed with quad exhaust and chrome tips. That was all installed about 6000 miles ago. New state of the art suspension with new control arms. This car is amazing and was way ahead of its time when it came out in 1991. This car itself was manufactured in Jan. 1991. It has a memory telescopic wheel with power everything including locks, doors, seats, windows, and mirrors. Everything works. Newly charged air conditioning. A/C is ice cold. Also brand new heater core. Lights, turn signals, hazards, brake and tail lights all work. This car cost around $100,00 new. Has new brakes as well, front and rear. It also brand new headliner in side. Interior is matching blue leather. In very decent shape, though the driver's seat is showing moderate wear with a small hole on the inside edge. Carpeting looks good and dash is unscathed with no crack. Also all glass looks clean with no visible cracks. All windows operate as they should. Has dual components under hood as fuel pump and batteries. Also horn and wipers work too. BMW shuffles chairs in its design department
Sun, 22 Sep 2013BMW Group has made some changes to its design team since August 1, and has shuffled top personnel to different positions at BMW Design, Mini Design and Rolls-Royce.
The BMW Design team led by Karim Habib (middle, right) gains a new head of Exterior Design in Domagoj Dukec (right), who has worked for the exterior design team since 2010 and shaped the Concept Active Tourer.
Oliver Heilmer (left), who has worked for BMW's interior design unit since 2000 and designed the 5 Series interior, replaces Marc Girard as head of Interior Design BMW Automobiles. Marc Girard goes to manage BMW's subsidiary design group, BMW DesignworksUSA.
Ward's reveals annual 10 Best Engines list for 2013
Thu, 13 Dec 2012Ward's Auto has released its annual 10 Best Engines award winners. The 2013 list covers the full width and breadth of the internal combustion spectrum, from a spate of efficient four-cylinders to the most powerful production V8 on the planet. As always, the entries must be available in a production vehicle in the first quarter of 2013 with an MSRP of less than $55,000. The supercharged 3.0-liter V6 from the Audi S5 held on for the fourth consecutive year, and BMW earned two spots on the list with its turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder and turbo 3.0-liter inline-six.
Ford pulled in two awards for its 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder and and the supercharged 5.8-liter V8 from the Shelby GT500. Honda matched BMW and Ford with two wins of its own. Wards awarded the 2.4-liter four-cylinder from the Honda Accord Sport as well as the 3.5-liter V6 from the Honda Accord. Chrysler, General Motors and Subaru each garnered a spot on the list as well for the 3.6-liter V6 in the Ram 1500, the turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder in the Cadillac ATS and the 2.0-liter four-cylinder the Subaru BRZ, respectively. Even 'Ring taxi drivers need to respect the Green Hell
Wed, 06 Aug 2014The Nürburgring Nordschleife has the reputation as one of the most difficult tracks in the world to master - deservedly so. With 14 miles of roadway and about 160 corners over a massive amount of elevation change, the amount of grip can change from turn to turn. As the driver of the famous BMW Ring Taxi learned this weekend after a shunt into the barricades, the 'Ring can bite unsuspecting pros just as easily as amateurs.
The video of the incident below shows the M5 oversteering right into the wall as a phalanx of Porsche models arrive behind it. According to Bridge to Gantry, a website that specializes in news about the 'Ring, the taxi's passengers were picked up by another Ring Taxi and driven off with a fantastic story to tell their friends back home. "The accident happened at low speed, there were two passengers in the car, but no one had at any injuries," said BMW spokesperson Cypselus von Frankenberg to Autoblog via email.
The crash also closed track for over an hour to clean up and to haul the stricken BMW away. When a driver making a living from driving lap after lap at the Nordschleife has a crash even as seemingly minor as this one, it just goes to show why the course has the nickname 'The Green Hell.'
