This is a very clean 2002 745LI BMW.  Runs and drives great.  Looks great too.  Recent tune up/oil change.  Recent RI inspection done in January 2014. All power options work as they should.  It has the shade package, sport package which is staggered 19's with 80% Perrelli tires.  Ice cold A/C.  Brakes are good all around.  It has one keyless entry remote, to activate push button start.  No check engine lights or codes of any kind.  It can be driven anywhere with no problems.  Considering its size and power, it is pretty good on gas.  It looks much newer than it's actual age.  The exterior is in good condition.  It does have a ding on left side by tail light. On the hood the clear coat has lifted up a little.  I did take a pic of it.  Once it is waxed you won't even notice it.  There is a small scuff on passenger side front bumper that can be buffed out.  Other than that it is a sharp looking car with a nice shine.  The small dent by tail light is smooth, so the dent Dr should be able to pop it out.  The interior is pretty clean, with no rips or major stains.  It shows a little wear primarily on some of the buttons.  The radio and navigation work as they should.  I was driving down the road and hit a pothole and two things happened-on the front left it sounds like a sway bar link because it does not affect braking or driving, no shake in the steering wheel.  It just has a slight clunk occasionally.  Also when I hit the bump, the passenger side speakers sound like they had a wire touch or something.  Never looked into it.  Just use driver side speakers with no problems.  These things are no too big of a deal to fix.  If you BIN I will fix it.  It has been a pleasure to drive, and will be driven until it is sold.  Remember, it is a 12 year old vehicle so it will not be perfect, but is in much better shape than most.  Feel free to email or call with any questions.  Lou 401-744-9914

BMW 2 Series Active Tourer getting third row

Sat, 23 Aug 2014

In what enthusiasts will likely see as a continued attempt to dilute the BMW brand, the German manufacturer is testing a three-row variant of its already controversial 2 Series Active Tourer. Our trusty spy photographers captured images of the new, front-drive MPV testing on the roads of Europe.
The easiest way to ID this more passenger friendly 2er is its slightly longer length, which will allow it to accommodate seven people in total. As our spies point out, this should make the 2AT an attractive proposition for European taxi companies. Yep, BMW built a car that will be praised by taxi drivers. On top of the extra seats, the rear overhang appears larger as well, which should mean extra cargo space.
This, of course, is not the first time we've captured images of a new 2AT variant undergoing testing. Back in May, we spotted a hybrid-powered variant out for a drive.

X4 launch to spearhead BMW crossover onslaught at NY Auto Show

Mon, 30 Dec 2013

It's no secret that crossovers are one of the key vehicle types driving today's auto industry profits, and nowhere is that more true than among the world's luxury brands. BMW became one of the first players in the luxury CUV segment when it launched its original X5 in 1999, and buoyed by that model's runaway success, it followed up with the X3 in 2003, the X6 in 2008 and the X1 in 2009 (though the latter didn't make it to the US until late 2012). It's replaced the X5 twice since then and the X3 once, but the Bavarian automaker isn't about to let matters rest there.
First off, a production version of a new X4 model is expected at the New York Auto Show in April. The model was previously rumored to be earmarked for reveal a month earlier, but a new report from Autocar suggests that the previously mooted reveal date and location were inaccurate. The X4 is expected to apply the same controversial slant-back formula to the X3 that transformed the X5 into the X6, which will in turn lead to an update for the X3 as well.
But that's not all. Autocar also reports that before 2014 is out, BMW will unveil a revised X6 at the Moscow Motor Show in August, which will in turn be followed by upgraded versions of both the X6 M and X5 M. These high-performance crossovers are tipped to pack the same 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 as the outgoing versions, albeit with higher outputs than the current models' 555 horsepower and 500 pound-feet of torque. All this, and they're still expected to simultaneously improve fuel consumption and emissions figures.

BMW recalls over 76k 2012-2014 models over brake failure

Sat, 28 Sep 2013

Bimmerfest is reporting that BMW has notified the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration of its intention to voluntarily recall more than 75,000 3 Series, 5 Series, X1, X3 and Z4 models due to a possible loss of power brake assist that could result in the vehicles failing to stop. The recall affects 2012-2014 models equipped with either the N20 or N26 engine produced from May 2012 to August 2013. Until recall repairs have been performed, BMW dealers will discontinue selling or delivering any affected vehicles in their inventories.
The problem has been traced to restricted oil supply from the intake camshaft to the brake vacuum pump, which may cause the brake vacuum pump to fail, resulting in a loss of power brake assist. While the hydraulic brakes will still function, the driver must much apply greater pedal pressure and the distance required to stop the vehicle will increase.
BMW has reported three minor accidents with no confirmed injuries. According to Bimmerfest, drivers who encounter a braking problem should "pull the emergency brake and apply as much brake pedal pressure as possible. If your BMW has an electronic parking brake pull up and hold the switch to engage the brake." Drivers should then park in a safe location and contact BMW Roadside Assistance.
