2001 BMW 750 IL (Long body) recently purchased by me and refurbished to be ready for the road by Southwest Bimmers here in town. If you would like to speak with them ask for Chuck, he knows allot about this car. I also have a clean carfax to show any prospective buyers

136,xxx on the odometer. Motor sounds and performs great(As it should, the m72 motor has won gearhead awards for its bulletproof design). This thing has torque and is fast at any speed thanks to the v12. This car is well on its way to regaining its former prestige. This was once a $100,000 car. The first car with HID's, it has rear privacy screens on windows, all seats are electronically adjustable, drivers seat has memory function. Car has "sports package" and "cold weather package" which basically means it has colored side skirts, a different torque converter than regular, heated seats and steering wheel. The body is in pretty good shape but it does have a few dings and scratches, also someone took it to an auto car wash (which you never do in a car like this) and messed up the side skirts a little. They are a little scratched, a little loose and need to be re-secured properly.

Recent Services Include:

Repair of the heated catalytic converter
Replaced Secondary Air House (OEM)
Replaced Coolant Bleed Hose (OEM)
Replaced Coolant (OEM)
Replaced Thermostat (OEM)
Replaced Motor and Transmission mounts (OEM Transmission and aftermarket Motor)
Replaced Transmission Filter (OEM)
Replaced Transmission Fluid (OEM)
Replaced Transmission Gasket (OEM)
Replaced power Steering Lines (OEM)
Replaced Light Control Module (OEM)

This car is not perfect and still has some issues that need to be sorted out with time to make the car perfect.

I have over $1800 in recent receipts for parts/labor (and I'm a thrifty shopper when it comes to parts). I'm going to be honest and say this car would be best for someone with DIY experience, or an e38 enthusiast.

I also have the following parts/accessories that come with the car:
New Auxiliary Electric Fan (aftermarket). Needs to be installed before summer.
Electronic BMW Shop Manual (CD- very useful)
Bentley E38 Manual (similar to a Haynes or Clymer manual but more in depth)
BMW Scanner Tool 1.4 (used to diagnose car issues)
New rear privacy screens.
New Hood Bumpers (make the hood open properly)

Issues I am aware of:
Miscellaneous interior trim pieces broken/missing.
One of the foglight housings is missing.
I think the "massage function" of the seats no longer work.
The rear windows don't roll down and probably need regulators (they are getting power)
She isn't the prettiest inside (leather has cracks from wear, etc.)
Glove box lock is broken. (you can still open and close it with some improvisation)
2 of the 4 tires are going to need to be replaced soon.
1 in 6 times the car is started the ABS light stays on. This is caused by a failing steering angle sensor that needs to be replaced eventually but doesn't affect drivability.
The transmission shifts hard from 1st to 2nd. I have done a lot of research on the forums regarding the issue and some people say its a programming issue that the dealer has to look into while others say 10k miles after performing the transmission service mentioned above that the problem dissipates. The transmission still shifts fast in every gear and smooth in every other shift which leads me to believe it is not the torque converter.

If someone offers me near what I have into this car I will take it as I am looking to walk away from the project since I already have another one and I need to downsize (housing, cars, etc.) Interesting Trades?

Even 'Ring taxi drivers need to respect the Green Hell

Wed, 06 Aug 2014

The Nürburgring Nordschleife has the reputation as one of the most difficult tracks in the world to master - deservedly so. With 14 miles of roadway and about 160 corners over a massive amount of elevation change, the amount of grip can change from turn to turn. As the driver of the famous BMW Ring Taxi learned this weekend after a shunt into the barricades, the 'Ring can bite unsuspecting pros just as easily as amateurs.
The video of the incident below shows the M5 oversteering right into the wall as a phalanx of Porsche models arrive behind it. According to Bridge to Gantry, a website that specializes in news about the 'Ring, the taxi's passengers were picked up by another Ring Taxi and driven off with a fantastic story to tell their friends back home. "The accident happened at low speed, there were two passengers in the car, but no one had at any injuries," said BMW spokesperson Cypselus von Frankenberg to Autoblog via email.
The crash also closed track for over an hour to clean up and to haul the stricken BMW away. When a driver making a living from driving lap after lap at the Nordschleife has a crash even as seemingly minor as this one, it just goes to show why the course has the nickname 'The Green Hell.'

BMW web sales plan opposed by German dealers

Tue, 23 Jul 2013

Tesla isn't the only manufacturer that is facing a backlash over its plans to sell cars directly to customers. BMW is under fire from its German dealerships over its desire to sell its cars via the internet.
BMW has plans to sell the new i3 through the World Wide Web, while a "Mobile Sales Force" will be making house calls. According to Automotive News Europe, Head of German Sales Roland Krueger told German weekly Wirtschaftswoche, "We can imagine that Internet sales could be expanded to all models." This is the particular caveat that has traditional brick-and-mortar dealers so up in arms.
According to the head of BMW's German dealerships Werner Entenmann, "We told BMW in no uncertain terms that we cannot accept direct sales channels." Reuters reports that an anonymous dealer has gone so far as to pledge not to use the sales force in Germany. Krueger, for what it's worth, told Wirtschaftswoche that the "backbone" of BMW sales will still be traditional dealerships.

BMW planning Zhi Nuo Chinese sub-brand, may export models

Sat, 06 Apr 2013

Automakers continue to pour big money into the developing market that is China, and new sub-brands born of joint ventures with domestic partners crop up on what seems like a weekly basis. The latest? According to reports, BMW and its Chinese ally Brilliance are forming a new sub-brand called Zhi Nuo ("The Promise") that will likely rely on existing or older BMW products as a basis for new models.
Previous reports had indicated that the sub-brand could build its offerings based on an older 3 Series model (presumably the E90 series), but newer rumors have the X1 crossover (shown) factoring in. The Zhi Nuo brand could receive its official unveiling as soon as later this month at the Shanghai Motor Show.
Perhaps most interestingly, Automotive News Europe reports that the automaker's ambitions for Zhi Nuo may extend beyond China's borders. It's not clear what markets BMW may be eying, but executives admit the company hasn't ruled out Europe.
