Where do I start ? I am an OCD, anal maintenance maniac that skimps on nothing. I am close to 50 years old and take care of my stuff. This car was never abused or mutilated.  This gem has been gone through from front to back. As most BMW enthusiast know the E38 sport Black/ Black is the last year, the best year, and the one to buy.  The sport gives you the sport seats, the lower 3:15 gear ratio, shadowline blacked out trim, M pars staggered sport wheels, M 3 spoke steering wheel, and an improved lower torque converter. It drives much better than an ordinary base model. The only way to go. Straight out of the "Transporter" movie, that hooked me on this car. LOL

I bought this car from and older gentlemen who garaged it and took very good care of it. The interior is a 9. The exterior is an 8 to be critical. It shines very nice but has some nicks on the front and few scratches. Needs a nice detail and polish. I get compliments every time I take the car out but as I said I am anal so being critical. It is an accident free car and a non smoker.

What has been done: I blew a hose a several months ago and made the mistake of trying to get to the next exit. Big mistake, head gasket blew. I elected to find a low mileage replacement motor instead of playing w/ this motor and then possibly still having other issues. So I located a low mileage 80K motor in mint condition from Bavarian motor works. Very happy I did this because it was so clean and mint inside it was better than my motor!! I have pics of everything even inside the motor. It was a t bone accident car so taken car of till the day I bought it which I liked. And it showed.

While doing this motor job, and intending to keep the car for many years, I skimped on nothing. From reading all the forums and known 4.4 E38 issues I addressed them even if it didn't have the problem. I did EVERY gasket, seal, O ring, and hose on the is motor and car. I even put in a new heater control valve a very expensive item. New motor mounts. You can't even feel the car running. The rear main seal was replaced while the motor was out, intake seals, vanos seals, valve cover gaskets, valley pan gasket, oil pan gasket. I didn't want to have to take a chance on any gasket or seal once in. As you can imagine this was very expensive. New radiator. New water pump, new clutch fan. Any item I saw I replaced, I didn't want to play around later. I was in it for the long haul.

The trans was serviced w/ the correct BMW spec fluid and a BMW filtran filter. It shifts perfectly and crisp.

The rear differential fluid was changed w/ Mobil 1 75/90 synthetic gear oil.  The fuel filter was replaced w/ a BMW filter.

The power steering fluid was changed to synthetic also.

New NGK platinum spark plugs

Alternator is 1 year old Bosch

I put new Bilstine Sport struts along w/ H&R II lowering springs, and all new BMW hardware -- Handles fantastic.

New Callahan performance drilled and slotted rotors Zinc coated w/ new pads, low dust---stops on a dime and straight

20" Advanti rims w/ new Nitto Invo low profile tires- Handles great wet and dry and quiet ride

New BMW dealer Alignment done at BMW specs--yes they have a special procedure!

new knock sensors, new O2 sensors

New serpentine belt

New air filter

The notorious E38 glove latch is broken- a new one is included 190 dollars!!!!!!

The original staggered M pars w/ michelin tires are included in the sale.-Very good condition.

Oil was recently changed w/ 0w/40 Mobil 1 and a Mann german filter

The E38 is notorious for missing dash pixels---not so here they are all working

The windshield was peppered up from years of use and it has a new windshield- 1 year old perfect clarity

The radio has a Dice Ipod integration unit usable through the steering wheel controls

New Berber floor mats w/ 740I embroidery

Includes original sticker and all the BMW books and 2 BMW keys

Ice cold A/C

Everything works, no knocks tapping, smoking or otherwise. This is a beautifully running and driving E 38 and a real gem. I have driven many of them and owned several BMW's, this baby is a gem.

Theres more I am sure but this is what I can remember as of now. An '01 E38 short sport-not an easy find in good condition.  This is a very nice E38 not easily compared to some mystery cars I see advertised w/ little maintenance. Are their cheaper e38's...yes...will they cost you in a short time to equal this car--yes. This car is all done and no mystery.  Believe me I am in for much more than my asking price----   12,300.  Thanks for looking!  CARFAX: Please note I saw 7 owners when I bought the car and inquired to find out 2 were the same owner in 2 states being reported as a new owner 2 times. Ga, and Fla. Then a dealer and an auction. For whatever that is worth.

Now remember, if you intend to become the "Transporter"

Rule#1- No new deals, when it's a deal , it's a deal

Rule#2- No names

Rule#3- DON'T open the package!

Rule#4- Never make a promise you can't keep

BMW M2 reportedly green-lit

Thu, 01 May 2014

A BMW M2 is on the way, according to a sub-forum in the Bimmerpost empire. Of course, we're actively enjoying a few grains of salt, just to be safe, as the post doesn't mention explicit sources, saying only that "multiple inside sources (who have been accurate in the past)," have confirmed the car.
Provided the forum is correct, though, there's some juicy information here. Production is allegedly slated for late fall 2015, with deliveries likely starting in early 2016. The new sports coupe should arrive with 365 to 375 horsepower, courtesy of an upgraded version of BMW's N55 turbocharged, 3.0-liter inline-six.
The report claims BMW also considered a modified version of the 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder found in the Mini Cooper S. That engine, known internally as the B48, would have been called the S48 for M2 duty, a significance that we're sure BMW purists would appreciate (the only BMW engine to wear an S designation was the four-cylinder from the legendary E30 M3).

2014 BMW 328d xDrive Sport Wagon

Fri, 11 Apr 2014

There's a running joke among auto writers that the perfect car would be a diesel-powered, rear-drive wagon with manual transmission and no power accessories whatsoever. It would only be available in brown and would somehow be as fun to drive as a Mazda MX-5 Miata. Makes total sense, right?
Realistically, no manufacturer is ever going to completely fulfill our wishes, no matter how much we beg, plead, kick and scream about our dream car that most of us would actually never buy. The best we can do is hope for a vehicle that mixes some aspects of this ideal journalist's car. And in today's world, that vehicle just might be the BMW 328d xDrive Sport Wagon.
No, it's not available with a manual gearbox, and power can only be sent through an xDrive all-wheel-drive system. It's also not available in brown (although both Mojave Metallic and Sparkling Bronze Metallic are acceptable stand-ins), but it ticks the two main boxes of being a diesel-powered wagon, one of only a couple such models in the United States.

Will global automakers drop local JV partners if China's government says they can?

Wed, 02 Jul 2014

Chinese economic policies could be in for a big change, as President Xi Jinping pushes the communist country to open its domestic markets even further. That could mean big things for the auto industry, especially when it comes to the country's far-reaching joint-venture system.
According to Chinese law, foreign automakers may only maintain a fifty-fifty partnership with their domestic counterparts. But with Jinping's push for openness leading to potential free-trade deals, that policy could be relaxed (or eradicated all together) in short order. What's an automaker to do?
Well, in BMW's case, stay the course. Automotive News Europe reports that, despite the grumblings about the JV policy changes, the German manufacturer has resigned its agreement with Brilliance through 2028. This is made doubly remarkable by the fact that BMW signed the extension over three years before it was set to expire.
