So frustrated with not being able to find a good mechanic that am I letting go of her! : ("

For sale is (my) ***FEMALE-OWNED AND DRIVEN****1985 BMW 528e, a RARE classic  with approximately 225,000 miles on it (mileage is approximate as I don't have the car in front of me--the car has been sitting at the *#*(*!!! shop since April--the  odometer does work!), but was told it has a newer engine in it.  I purchased this BMW in April 2006 and am the 4th owner.  I have put thousands of dollars into this car since owning it to make it a total delight to drive!  All the electricals work!   Sunroof works, gauges work, seats work, even the headrests work! This car is not currently running--I think it's a fuel pump, but the mechanic seems to think it's an electrical issue.  If it isn't a fuel pump, a fuel pump relay, or a speed sensor, I would be VERY surprised.  For the right guy, this is most likely a simple fix I figure.

I've had a TON of new parts put on it.  This car has a brand new exhaust on it, a new center link, newer full suspension (control arms, tie rod ends, idler arm, etc.), new subframe bushings, new radiator and water pump, and MANY OTHER NEW PARTS THAT I AM NOT THINKING OF AT THE MOMENT.

The idle control valve needs cleaned on it to keep it from revving up and down, but that really isn't a big deal.  It does need the fabric over the sunroof (interior) tightened on as it is torn at the front edge from opening and closing the sunroof.  Also, the "528E" badge is missing from the trunk but the BMW badges are newer.  It has a smidge of rust on the drivers front quarter panel in the usual expected place.  Front and rear brakes and rotors are newer.  I have dumped many thousands of dollars into this car since I bought it from a guy in Boston who bought it from Taylor "Teak" Ackman of Newport RI.  He was an enthusiast who really decked this car out with a Pioneer radio/cd player (with really cool visual display options to match the music!) with 6 disc changer, huge speaker and two amps in the trunk.  This car features a wooden Momo steering wheel AND shift knob for a vintage feel!

Black leather seats are in super shape and have been kept covered the whole time I've owned it (to keep them nice)!  Black Rhino heavy-duty floor mats purchased from Bav Auto (Bavarian Autosport).  It has Bav Auto racing wires, a K & N air filter, newer Bilstein HD shocks and newer Bav Auto red lowering springs.  I had so many things done to it after I purchased it to tighten it up!  It has 17" slotted rims (some road rash) with good tires.  There is NO AC in the car--components were removed by the Teak, the PO and enthusiast from RI.  It has a newer battery and brand new alternator too!

I'll add to this description as I think of things to add.  I'll try to get more pics but I work so much and commute an hour each way that it will be tough to do this time around.

This is a very unique car and would be a wonderful father/son project or enthusiast project for total restoration to bring it back to its glory!  No one in town has one of these, and they're not making any more of them!

Would be willing to consider a good solid work car even or partial trade if it doesn't sell such as a 1991 Mercedes 300se, a 2001 Honda Civic EX or LX, or a Hyundai Sonata.  Message me with any questions.  As always, please physically look at and inspect the car prior to bidding--this is a 28 year old car, though it is truly one of the greatest ever made!  : )  No warranties express or implied--car sold as is, where is.  It will need towed in its present condition.  All sales are final and deposit is non-refundable.

Car is for sale locally, so I reserve the right to end this auction early, even if there are bids on it.

Thanks!

2016 BMW X5 M is big and bold, not beautiful

Wed, 19 Nov 2014

Awesome as it is, the BMW X5 M has never really been an attractive machine. Big and bulgy are the themes here, and that's only more pronounced with the X5's most recent refresh. But no matter, the X5 M has never been about looks - for this machine, it's all about performance, and BMW's hi-po crossover absolutely delivers in this regard.
Under the hood is the familiar 4.4-liter, twin-turbo V8, though power has been boosted to 567 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque - healthy increases of 12 and 53, respectively, compared to the outgoing model. Hitting 60 miles per hour is said to take just four seconds, which is damn impressive considering this thing weighs well over 5,000 pounds.
But the X5 M has always been shockingly good to drive, with limits you'll never reach except in the most hardcore track scenarios (which we'd really like to see, by the way). It's not the prettiest thing ever, but that's okay. It's not exactly cheap, though, with prices starting at $99,650. Woof.

BMW M3 and M4 leak ahead of Detroit debut

Wed, 11 Dec 2013

Images of the overhauled BMW M3 sedan and M4 coupe have leaked ahead of a debut at next month's Detroit Auto Show, along with option sheets and some specs.
Both wear the standard hallmarks of BMW's M division. There's a subtle power dome in the hood, along with the requisite M3/4-branded strakes on the front fenders. The front and rear fascia are more aggressive than what we've seen in the 3/4 Series M Sport package, as well. Split-five-spoke wheels mean the neither car will stand out in the family portrait and those gold calipers, meanwhile, signify what has been rumored for some time - the M3 and M4 will be getting carbon-ceramic brakes.
The cabin is home to the standard suite of M accoutrements, including a new steering wheel and more heavily bolstered seats. Special trim, including carbon fiber, will be available to further set these cars apart from the standard models.

2014 BMW 4 Series

Tue, 23 Jul 2013

Because Four Is Greater Than Three
Say what you will about the name 4 Series, there is a method to BMW's madness. On one hand, it's easy enough to just buy into the logic that odd numbers are reserved for sedans and wagons, and that even numbers are reserved for coupes and convertibles. On the other hand, consider the idea that the higher numbers are used to separate the more dynamic, more engaging vehicles that use the same platform. It's that sort of separation that differentiates the 6 Series so nicely from its 5 Series roots, after all. And if we're being cynical, it also allows BMW to charge a bit more money for its lower-volume offerings.
So with the new two-door version of the 3 Series, BMW has gone the route of strengthening the dynamic virtues of its F30 chassis to create a car that's more removed from its sedan kin than one might think. And after spending some time with the new 4 Series on the roads around Lisbon, Portugal, as well as the famous Circuito do Estoril racetrack, it's increasingly clear that calling this car a 3 Series Coupe simply wouldn't be fair.
