2003 Bmw 325ci Base Convertible 2-door 2.5l on 2040-cars
USAF Academy, Colorado, United States
PRICE IS VARIABLE. Tentatively yours truly is a '03 325Ci. It has been well kept under my care for 2 years now. I am selling it because I am changing bases soon. The majority of the miles on it are highway miles. One of the previous owners had a sweetheart in Cali. The other 2 kept it in garage condition. I, the final owner used it around the Springs and up to Denver. Issues and fixes:
- The aftermarket speakers would pop every once in a while. Fixed that with a few new fuzes. - The coolant expansion tank for the radiator had a broken hose so I replaced that myself instead of getting lowballed by PepBoys - The 2 front tires might need changing soon. They're all weather. - The convertible top has a slider cover on the left side that is broken. It can be easily replaced or repaired and the top still works. Despite the points mentioned above, the Beemer is a beaut. Full leather. The stick shift transmission works great, just don't ride out the clutch or she complains. The car also comes with aftermarket subwoofer installed. In a car that big you can definitely feel the effects. The fog lights are also suped up blue neon and really bring attention to the car in low light conditions. Taking the top down is painless and really adds to the summer value of the car. Lastly, unlike most automatic rear wheel drive cars, this car can handle snow with the manual transmission. The engine brake allows great control in slick conditions. The car has many pointers and it's easier for me to get excited talking about it in person. So shoot me a text and we can talk. More pics of the inside to come. Short offer till the end of May so you can try offers, I'm reasonable. |

BMW Shanghai: Driving in mega cities, designing the future and more
Thu, 25 Apr 2013
The BMW enclave is a suitable mix of high-tech and throwback cool.
A few days before the Shanghai Motor Show kicked off, we were part of an international group of media that was invited to have a look at the BMW Designworks Shanghai Studio and ConnectedDrive Lab facility. The building that BMW found to house its Chinese think tank is in a lovely part of Shanghai known as the former French Concession. The late 1890s and early 1900s French architectural style, brick-paved streets and tree-lined spaces feel a world apart from the ultra-modern heart of Shanghai, and the BMW enclave is a suitable mix of high-tech and throwback cool.
2014 BMW X5 configurator goes live
Sun, 28 Jul 2013BMW won't begin selling the 2014 X5 for another few months, but the German manufacturer has brought the third-generation SAV's configurator online, allowing interested customers to poke around and look at the X5's optional goodies.
Like the 3 Series, the X5 is available in a number of lines that load up extras automatically. There's also a do-it-yourself truck that allows owners to pick and choose if they're not enamored with the styling or trim of one of the dedicated packages. As usual, the options list is quite vast, regardless of which line is chosen. We were able to easily take the new, rear-drive X5 sDrive35i, which started at $52,800, and bring the total price up past $80,000.
The new X5 carries over its 4.4-liter, twin-turbo V8 from the current model, as well as BMW's excellent 3.0-liter, turbocharged inline-six. The X5 xDrive35d, with the 3.0-liter turbodiesel will also be available on the third-generation SUV, but won't hit dealers until early 2014. BMW is stepping outside of the X5's usual bounds, offering a dedicated rear-drive model, available with all the same trimmings as the xDrive vehicles. Head over to BMW's US consumer page and have a go.
China probing German automakers over spare parts
Sat, 26 Jul 2014The Chinese market has proven to be a boon to German luxury automakers. However, the way that the companies have allegedly been controlling their supply of spare parts has begun to draw the ire of the nation's government. According to insiders speaking to Bloomberg, officials from the country's economic planning organization have opened a probe into Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz and some Japanese carmakers over claimed price inflation and limiting supply.
Specifically, the investigation centers around two aspects of how the companies do business, according to Bloomberg. Investigators want to know whether the original equipment component makers are able to sell spare parts only to automaker-authorized dealers or if they are also available to independent shops. There is also the issue of whether the price markup on replacement pieces is too high. The tight controls could be partially explained by China's reputation for producing counterfeit parts.
Evidently, the investigators haven't checked parts prices at car dealers elsewhere in the world. At least in the US, paying more at the dealer for factory components just goes along with owning a vehicle. If evidence of price fixing is found, the companies could face fines the equivalent of millions of dollars, according to Bloomberg.
