The Ultimate Driving Machine.

2002 BMW 325i E46
Leather interior, wood trim, sunroof, power everything, CD w/ auxiliary input, 99,750 miles

Own the ultimate driving machine. If you haven't ever owned a BMW, you need to. And if you have owned a BMW, you know what I'm talking about. Plain and simple, this is a fun car to drive. If you appreciate style, craftsmanship and power, you need a BMW.

I want this listing to be as clear and honest as possible, so here are some points of interest:
- This series of BMW tends to wear out the front control arm bushings, so those were replaced about 500 miles ago.
- Another very common problem is the secondary air pump wearing out. So I just replaced that about 200 miles ago.
- The ceiling liner is sagging a little. It's sags in the very back, but not the entire thing. It's also a little saggy looking but still attached on the pillars by the windshield. It was like this when bought it about a year go and, to be honest, you'll forget about it before you even drive it home.
- Engine runs strong - I've never had any issues at all.
- Very minor door dings in some spots. Most of them were there when I bought it. Probably a result of apartment parking.
- These BMWs come pre-wired for things like theft protection and hands-free phone, but I never added either. You could just buy the kit and its plug-and-play after that.
- There is a small dent in the jam around the trunk. No idea what from, it was there when I bought it. Doesn't affect any functionality. Check the photos of the back. YOu probabaly wouldn't have even noticed if I didn't say anything. Usually hardly noticable.
- Leather seats still look really good. And all the power controls still work.
- Sometime when it's driven hard or turned on/off a bunch I can notice a very faint antifreeze smell.
- Comes with two keys - the ones with all the buttons to lock/unlock, etc.
- I added an auxiliary input so I could plug in my iPhone for music. Works great.
- I drive approx. 70% city/30% highway and have been getting 25 mpg. Not bad for such an awesome car.
- It is freshly washed and waxed, including rain-x on the windshield (that stuff if a godsend).

Other fun stats:
- Rear-wheel drive
- Top speed is 149 mph (I wouldn't know, but it's fun knowing it could go that fast)
- 190 hp @ 6,000 rpm
- 180 ft-lb of torque @ 3,500 mph
- 0-100 mph in 7.2 seconds

When pricing this sale I did a good amount of homework. I have two value assessments:
KBB - $5,500-6.200
Clearbook - $6,100
Average those out and it comes to $5,900. Reserve is set considerably lower than that.

For any skeptics - The above assessments include any issues I mentioned earlier, usually choosing the 'fair' or 'average' condition. I would absolutely love to keep the car around but I was recently given a company vehicle and I just can't justify letting this beaut just sit in the driveway.

If you have any questions, want to make an offer, want to see more photos or want to come check it out just shoot me an email.

BMW brings burlesque, Warhol, M1 and 6 Series Grand Coupe to Paris Photo LA

Mon, 22 Apr 2013

BMW has worked with Paris Photo for ten years. This year, the photography exposition lands in Paramount Studios in Los Angeles for the first time, and BMW is not only coming with it, the Bavarians are bringing the Art Car that started it all: the 1979 M1 painted by Andy Warhol. For those attending the show, there will also be making-of video of Warhol working on the car - but if you remember the mini lecture that EVO magazine's Henry Catchpole gave on the Art Cars, you'll remember that Warhol finished the car so quickly that the cameraman barely had time to get the film rolling.
With that will also be a series of photos of the BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe dropped into noir scenes accompanied by burlesque models, all taken by photographer Uwe Düttmann. It's the first time they'll be exhibited at Paris Photo. You can check out a few of them in the high-res gallery above, and there's a press release below with more info.

BMW preparing two concepts for Villa d'Este

Thu, 20 Mar 2014

Every spring, the finest automobiles ever to grace tarmac gather on the shores of Lake Como for the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este. It's a chance for the most beautiful classics to compete for awards and for automakers and design studios to show off their concept cars under the soft light of the Italian sun. But while most of the vehicles old and new that show up for the concours are ones we've seen before, BMW takes things a step further.
As patron of the concorso d'eleganza for the past ten years, BMW regularly cooks up something new for the glamorous extravaganza. Last year it teamed up with Pininfarina for the Gran Lusso Coupé and revealed it alongside the Concept 90 motorcycle. The year before that came the BMW Zagato Coupe, preceded by the 328 Hommage and the M1 Hommage (pictured above) before it.
The theme for this year's event is the Roaring Twenties. BMW may not have been known back then on the same level as Bugatti or Duesenberg, but Rolls-Royce sure was.

Toyota close to licensing deal with BMW for fuel cell technology

Wed, 23 Jan 2013

For over a year now, we've been hearing about a potential partnership between Toyota and BMW on everything from sports cars to lithium-ion batteries, but one of the first cooperative projects between these two automakers could bring Toyota's hydrogen fuel cell technology to a BMW vehicle. Reuters is reporting that an announcement is likely to be made as soon as later this week regarding a BMW fuel cell vehicle that could be in production by 2020 with a prototype running around by 2015.
The last we heard of Toyota's fuel cell technology, it was in the FCV-R Concept that we saw at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show, but there is no word how far along in development this system is. If it does come to fruition, such a vehicle for BMW would build on the automaker's commitment to hydrogen that started with the Hydrogen 7, which unlike a fuel cell vehicle, simply ran on hydrogen fuel rather than converting it to electricity for use in motors. We're definitely interested where this Toyota/BMW tie up could be headed.
