I am relisting this car. It had sold 2 weeks ago on Ebay, but the buyer backed out. Please do not bid if you do not intend to buy it.
This car was running strong mechanically, when I parked it on my driveway 3 years ago. It was a reliable, everyday driver when I parked it. It has now sat for 3 years. This car would be a good candidate for a restoration project.
It starts and idles well, but it will need at least the following work to get it back on the road:
- Rear shocks replaced
- Brake work (at least brake pads, all)
- New Tires (the spare tire is fine), the current tires are fair at best
- Doors repaired (all doors except the driver’s door do not open from the outside)
- Window repair on passenger front side (the glass is fine, does not go up/down)
- Front Air dam replaced
- Assume it needs exhaust work
- New Battery
Other:
- Paint – fair, some scratches and dings
- Rust; rust bubble at the passenger side door jamb where it meets the wheel well, rust at the top of the passenger side rear wheel well, a small rust bubble just below the trunk, and a rust bubble on the driver side rear door jamb.
- Interior: has wear spots throughout - no tears, just wear
- The sun roof sometimes has a problem closing properly, but it does work
- No cracks in the dashboard
- All glass is fine
Miles: 205,868
This car was never damaged in an accident. The vehicle history report here says it was in an accident. This car was very gently rear-ended in an accident that involved several other cars. There was a police report, but my car was not damaged at all - not even the rear bumper.
No dents (except for a small door ding on the passenger side rear door). The front air dam was damaged when it got caught on a parking space curb, and I backed out. Aside from the rust explained above, the body is in good shape.
AC worked when I parked it
It will not be able to be test driven, as it is not registered, inspected or insured.
I am selling this car as a parts car / restoration project.

BMW 2 Series, X5 get their M Performance parts on
Mon, 02 Dec 2013BMW models come in a number of flavors, from their standard guises to M Sport variants and M Performance models to full-on M muscle machines. But if you want to pick and choose the degree to which you want your Bimmer upgraded along the path to M, BMW automaker offers its M Performance Parts line. The Bavarian automaker already offers these performance and stylistic add-ons for a number of models, and has now released new kits for both the 2 Series Coupe and the latest X5 crossover.
The catalog for the 2 Series includes an available lowered suspension kit, upgraded brakes, new alloys, carbon aero kit and interior trim enhancements. There's also a power kit available for the 220d model that squeezes out an extra 16 horsepower for a total of 200, and a limited-slip differential and exhaust silencer for the M235i.
Upgrades to the X5 crossover, meanwhile, also include a carbon aero kit and interior trim package. The X5 xDrive35i model also gets a power kit boosting output by 20 ponies to 326 hp and an exhaust silencer. Scope out the details in the pair of press releases below and the pair of high-resolution image galleries top and bottom.
Even 'Ring taxi drivers need to respect the Green Hell
Wed, 06 Aug 2014The Nürburgring Nordschleife has the reputation as one of the most difficult tracks in the world to master - deservedly so. With 14 miles of roadway and about 160 corners over a massive amount of elevation change, the amount of grip can change from turn to turn. As the driver of the famous BMW Ring Taxi learned this weekend after a shunt into the barricades, the 'Ring can bite unsuspecting pros just as easily as amateurs.
The video of the incident below shows the M5 oversteering right into the wall as a phalanx of Porsche models arrive behind it. According to Bridge to Gantry, a website that specializes in news about the 'Ring, the taxi's passengers were picked up by another Ring Taxi and driven off with a fantastic story to tell their friends back home. "The accident happened at low speed, there were two passengers in the car, but no one had at any injuries," said BMW spokesperson Cypselus von Frankenberg to Autoblog via email.
The crash also closed track for over an hour to clean up and to haul the stricken BMW away. When a driver making a living from driving lap after lap at the Nordschleife has a crash even as seemingly minor as this one, it just goes to show why the course has the nickname 'The Green Hell.'
BMW performance engineering boss wants an M7
Mon, 16 Dec 2013Audi has the S8, Mercedes has the S63 AMG and Jaguar has the XJR, but BMW has always held that an M7 wasn't justified, leaving its associated Alpina line to tackle that market with the B7 (pictured). The chief engineer at the M division, however, feels otherwise.
Speaking to Autocar, the BMW M development chief Albert Biermann indicated that he would like to see the M division do a performance version of the 7 Series to compete with the above-mentioned models, but that there are no current plans in place to do so. Neither did he specify what kind of engine it would have, or if it would be badged, for that matter, as an M7 or an M Performance model.
The latter is the approach which the M division is reportedly taking with performance versions of BMW crossovers beyond the X5 M and X6 M, such as the X3 and upcoming X4. The division is also said to be developing a performance-tuned xDrive system to compete with AMG's new all-wheel-drive models, as well as a potential M3 GT to join the new M3 sedan and M4 coupe with a slantback bodystyle.
