1988 Bmw 325is Automatic Two Owner Car Featured In Bimmer Magazine on 2040-cars
Soquel, California, United States
THE OVERVIEW The history on this car is that my Aunt and Uncle bought this car in June of 1989 from a BMW dealer in Fremont California. After a few years they moved to Oregon where the car was maintained and garaged until March of 2007 when my Aunt died. I flew up to Oregon and we purchased the car from my Uncle and brought it back to California. In April of 2009 we were approached about BIMMER Magazine doing a story on the car. The Editor and Photographer/Writer came down to Santa Cruz and took pictures and heard my story on the car. In October of 2009 the story came out. When recently asked why this car is special, it is because it is in such excellent condition for its age, it is a great color combination and that it is an automatic. Finished in Alpine white over
cardinal red leather, this ADULT owned 26 year-old E30 is one
of the best remaining unmodified exampled you could want. The E30 chassis three series cars are finally
rising in value and if you want a no-excuses example, THIS IS THE ONE FOR YOU!
Driven an average of about 5,800 miles per year since new, this car sports
the 168 horsepower 2.5 liter inline six cylinder engine mated to a 4 speed
automatic transmission. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes
with anti-lock. This 1988 325is has never been in any accidents. Part of
the “iS” package means it has the original-stamped "is" rear spoiler and
the manual Recaro-sourced sport seats, "M" leather steering
wheel and more. This 325is also features cold air conditioning (and
excellent heat as well), perfect crack-free dashboard (We have it covered
by a removable cover), electric sunroof and windows, cruise control, on-board
computer, check panel and AM-FM CD with iPod integration in the glove box! THE BODY AND TRIM THE INTERIOR MAINTANENCE This car was meticulously maintained! I keep a spreadsheet of every single thing I do to any of my cars and this one was no exception. Here is just two items we recently had done: October 2012…148,249 New Muffler July 2013……...149,816 New Timing Belt, Water Pump and Coolant Flush THE DRIVING EXPERIENCE THE DETAILS AND $$$$$$ |

BMW readying Spartanburg expansion for X7 production
Mon, 24 Mar 2014Prior to the debut of the original X5 in 1999, the idea of a BMW crossover might have seemed like heresy. But here we are, fifteen years removed from the Frank Stephenson-penned design, and the Bavarian automaker has expanded its crossover lineup to include the X1, X3, X4 and X6, and it's showing no sign of slowing down.
We recently reported that BMW is planning on slotting an X2 in at the bottom of the range between the X1 and X3, but now it's being widely reported that it's got an even larger one to put in at the top of its utility line. That, of course, would be the X7, a long-rumored three-row model that would give BMW a large family hauler to challenge the Mercedes-Benz GL.
According to The Wall Street Journal, BMW is expanding its assembly plant in Spartanburg, South Carolina, to accommodate production of the X7 alongside the X3, X4 and X5 that it already builds there for local consumption.
2013 Dinan S3 BMW 550i
Thu, 30 May 2013Steve Dinan has been enhancing BMW models since 1979. But don't throw his company into the ring with the dozen or so other tuners who tweak, tinker and piggyback upgrades on the famed German marque. Dinan is a tuner, but it's also an engineering firm that writes its own software, builds its own parts and then backs everything it does with a factory-grade warranty. That sort of fastidiousness comes at a price, but most of its customers - including the powerhouse of BMW Motorsport - rely on Dinan to help them come out on top.
In stock form, BMW's 550i is a formidable four-door with a twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 rated at 400 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque. While those figures allow it to run with quick company (0-60 in 5.0 seconds, according to the automaker), Dinan puts the sedan's kettle on full boil with its S3 package. Starting with the engine, the performance engineering firm bolts on larger turbochargers, air-to-water intercoolers, a trick strut tower brace cold air intake, a quad-pipe free flow exhaust and its own engine management software. Pump in some premium fuel, and the result is 542 horsepower and 587 pound-feet of torque. Power is sent through the stock eight-speed automatic to a limited slip rear differential (Dinan will upgrade xDrive all-wheel drive models, too).
The Dinan S3 also features and extensive suspension upgrade that includes new front camber arms and low compliance rear control arms (engineered to reduce understeer and improve turn-in). The stock dampers are retained, but new bump stops are installed along with new springs. Overall, the car rides about a half-inch lower than stock to improve roll rate. To reduce unsprung weight, forged 20-inch HRE Performance wheels are fitted at all four corners (wearing Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires - 275/35ZR20 up front and 295/35ZR20 in the rear). Lastly, the company remaps the factory Electronic Damper Control (EDC) software with its own Dinan Shockware to work in conjunction with the new enhancements.
EVO takes flight in BMW's sultry i8
Mon, 15 Sep 2014Electric cars and hybrids are here to stay, much to the apparent dismay of some auto enthusiasts, but that doesn't mean they have to represent the death of enjoyable driving. Granted, the initial run of hybrids in the US like the Honda Insight and Toyota Prius weren't exactly tailor-made for aggressive folks behind the wheel, but things are clearly changing. In its latest video, Evo takes a look at three examples from Europe's new crop of electrified vehicles to show that the future of fun motoring is safe and sound.
Evo editor Henry Catchpole kicks things off with one of the most bizarre EVs of the bunch, the tiny Renault Twizy. Its low power and 50-mile-per-hour top speed might make it miles away from a hot hatch, but there's still fun to be had in extracting the most from this little city car. Next up is the Audi A3 E-Tron, which isn't technically available yet. It's a step in the right direction of eventually creating an affordable, fun-to-drive hybrid hot hatch.
However, the main event is Catchpole getting some seat time in the BMW i8. The Bimmer can really fly -literally in this case - and the butterfly-door coupe offers a clear look at the prospects for electrified sports cars. It might not have the power of hybrid supercar contemporaries like the LaFerrari or Porsche 918 Spyder, but the BMW doesn't cost nearly as much, either. See? Improved efficiency doesn't have to mean boring.
