Up for sale is my tastefully modified (I think) 1974 BMW 2002. I've wrestled with selling it for a couple of years now but I never drive it and it needs to be driven! It's an Inka with sunroof and 4-speed. I have a 5 speed that I will throw in with drive shaft, guibo and some parts for the conversion (but not all of them). I've done a lot of work into this car and I feel bad selling it. Included are a set of Recaros but they are tan and the car's interior is black. The car has a pretty good whump whump when idling because of the Schrick cam. I have a lot of the original paperwork including the sales brochure, original registration receipts and a whole lot more. I'm probably forgetting stuff (and probably got some things wrong. Like I think it's a 72 and before bumper, but some reading this may know better) so just send me your question and I'll try my best to answer it.

Some of the things I've done to it:

Euro front turn signals

New shocks all around

Eibach springs

BBS wheels

Aardvark Big Brake Kit

Stainless steel brake lines

Weber 32/36 conversion

Top End Performance front and rear strut tower braces

Top End Performance Header

Full Ansa exhaust (middle and rear)

New carpet

Ireland urethane engine bushings, unknown manufacturer urethane transmission and rear suspension bushings

Ireland Canon intake

POR-15 gas tank

Battery relocated to trunk (tool box not included)

New windshield rubber (OEM)

Kamei spoiler

Rear '72 bumper

Schrick cam (not sure which one)

Hella lights

Intermittent wipers

Alpine amp and speakers

Passenger's side mirror

Upgraded seat belts

Upgraded alternator (80 amp I think)

Mechanical distributor

Ireland spark plug wires

Those are the good things, and now a couple not so good things:

The tires do not all match. The fronts are different than the rears. The seats have lost almost all of that precious horse hair (see note above about Recaros). The holes need to be filled in where the old bumpers were or you can put the old bumpers on if you'd like (they're included). There is a small bubble (see pic) behind the passenger's front wheel and a small chip where the hood dinged the body (hood alignment is a PAIN!). The headliner has been cleaned by me but still shows some staining. I re-jetted the Weber and I think it runs rich but I have the old jets (included) if you'd like to throw them back in. The passenger's side door needs a door brake. The windshield washer is not in the car right now. It works but the tube got too close to the header and melted. The tach is intermittent but I have at least two that I'll throw in. The numbers do not match. When I bought the car the engine was awful (top speed was ~70 with a tail wind). I had this engine in another 2002 and had it swapped out after I bolted on the intake, headers, dizzy, etc. I may be able to hunt down the original engine if that is important although no guarantees. I don't know how many miles are on this engine but it pulls hard and revs high with the Schrick. You can follow much of what I did here: http://www.bmw2002faq.com/component/option,com_forum/Itemid,50/page,viewtopic/t,341777/

2014 BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo [w/video]

BMW Gets Much Closer To The GT Look And Feel It Seeks
The 2014 BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo is being launched to a pretty cynical automotive press brigade. You know it. We know it. Heck, even BMW knows it. We've just returned from driving it on the rather unforgiving and sometimes nasty roads of Sicily, and even before we got behind the wheel, many of our media colleagues were busying themselves doubting the 3 GT's very raison d'être. So, despite the always excellent Sicilian hospitality, the day's atmosphere was kind of fragile.
While the press in attendance seemed determined to nail every product expert to the wall for having been even tangentially associated with the larger 5 Series Gran Turismo, it seemed that BMW decided ahead of time to not introduce such a sensitive discussion topic. That strategy would do little to smooth things over as everyone started digging for dirt on BMW's so far clumsy Gran Turismo franchise.

2014 BMW M5 facelift shows up online

Tue, 14 May 2013

Is it that time already? Like its predecessors, the current BMW M5 has been endangering US licenses since it first went on sale here in 2012, but its design became a known quantity back at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show. Apparently that also means that the F10 generation has already grown tired enough to the "Must Have Latest Set" who can afford these sorts of super saloons that a facelift is in order.
If these leaked images sourced from Autocar are anything to go by, BMW stylists have used a predictably light hand to rework their hottest 5 Series, with a revised grille that echoes the M6 along with modestly resculpted headlamps. The rear end appears wholly unaltered. Interior changes gleaned from a look at the cabin photos include an updated touchpad-equipped iDrive controller and a new steering wheel cribbed from the M6.
No new word on changes to the 4.4-liter, twin-turbo V8 powertrain, but in late April, we heard that BMW was readying new competition packages for the M5 and M6. The packages are said to include 15 more horsepower, revised suspension and steering, along with new wheels and blackened exhaust tips. Given that BMW is known for habitually underrating its cars' horsepower outputs (particularly its M models) we can't help but wonder if its engineers will need to do anything other than wave a magic wand to corral those extra ponies underhood...

Bunny couldn't out hop a BMW M3 on-track

Mon, 15 Jul 2013

Driving a car is a dangerous hobby, and not just because of other drivers or poor roads. Sometimes, it seems like even the wildlife is out to get you, as evidenced here, here, here, here and here. Now, we can add one more unfortunate car-versus-animal encounter to the tally.
Perhaps believing that this bright orange BMW M3 GTS was a very fast, very loud carrot, an unfortunate bunny leaped into its windshield in a brutal accident at a Polish racetrack. Considering the M3's speed at the time, 89 miles per hour, the passengers are lucky to be okay. Obviously, Bugs didn't make it.
The BMW isn't in such great shape, though. The windshield is in a bit of a state, with safety glass sprayed all over the passenger side of the cabin. There doesn't appear to be any sheetmetal damage, at least from what we can tell from the video. Although there isn't any blood, the hit is really hard. The initial point of impact is at 0:57. Check out the video below.
