2008 Bmw 128i Base Coupe 2-door 3.0l on 2040-cars
Shirley, New York, United States
I am looking for a good home for my beloved 2008 BMW 128i silver with black interior. This car is beautiful, in nearly new condition. I bought the car from a relative (original owner) with 14,??? miles on the clock and have enjoyed it all the way to its current mileage of 29,318 ( could be a bit higher as I am still driving the car on occasion just so it doesn't sit for too long, approximately once a week). I drive a pickup truck all winter and I have a Harley Davidson for nice days so the BMW just sits too much in my opinion. I own the car outright, no liens, I have the clear title in hand and all service records. This car is in perfect condition mechanically, you could drive this car cross country no problem!! The car comes with Bluetooth for the cell phone, all books and the BMW tool kit. The car is for sale locally so I reserve the right to end the auction early. Please only bid if you intend to buy this car and have the funds in hand before you bid. Contact me with any questions and good luck!!

The importance of Angel Eyes, Ventiports and four round taillights
Sun, 01 Sep 2013Just the other day, we told you about how Lincoln isn't really a luxury brand, according to Ford's head design man, J Mays. His argument was that Lincoln lacked the unique DNA to differentiate it from the rest of the market, although the arrival of the MKZ is beginning to change that. Now, we have this video from Autoline Detroit, where Jim Hall, an analyst for 2953 Analytics who was quoted in yesterday's Lincoln story, explains the influence of certain styling cues and how they impact the brands.
Using BMW (Angel Eyes) and Buick (Ventiports) as examples for small, simple touches that serve to distinguish the brand's vehicles on the road, Hall then points out how changing trademark styling features, as Chevrolet has done on the new Corvette Stingray, can hurt the vehicle's public perception. Take a look at the full video below for an interesting dive into what these styling features mean to their individual brands.
BMW profit of $2.7B is down as automaker invests to keep luxury lead
Fri, 02 Aug 2013
Despite selling 6.6-percent more vehicles - a record by volume - and posting higher revenues in the second quarter of 2013, BMW Group's profit of 2.07 million euros ($2.75 billion) is down 8.8 percent from last year. Investments in new technology (e.g. the new i3) and personnel, in addition to a competitive market, are to blame, BMW states. But the automaker remains committed to its fiscal targets for 2013, which, Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW AG, Norbert Reithofer, says will be "on a similar scale to 2012."
The BMW brand's sales performance in the first half of the year, which increased by 7.7 percent to 804,258 vehicles delivered, was good enough for it to maintain its lead in the luxury market, narrowly beating Audi, which delivered 780,510 vehicles, Automotive News reports. Mercedes-Benz delivered 694,433 vehicles to cement third place.
Alpina D3 may be coming to Frankfurt with 350 hp, AWD
Wed, 14 Aug 2013Rumors are swirling that Alpina, the tuning house that specializes in all things BMW, will followup its Geneva debut of the B3 Bi-Turbo with an oil-burning variant slated for debut at September's Frankfurt Motor Show. The news comes from Auto Zeitung, which reports that the second-generation D3 will be based off the Europe-only 335d.
This is a departure from the last D3, which had the four-cylinder turbo-diesel from the BMW 123d in a 3 Series body. The new model is expected to use a 3.0-liter, twin-turbocharged inline-six, which will generate 350 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. That should scoot it to 62 miles per hour in under five seconds (likely while towing a tree stump). Both rear- and all-wheel drive should be available on the D3, and we imagine the thrill of this much power channeled through just the two rear wheels to be akin to skydiving sans parachute.
For our European friends that want an Alpina D3, but don't need more torque than any American full-size pickup, there may be plans to offer a four-cylinder variant that still delivers Alpina performance without a compromise in economy. We'll have more on the Alpina D3 when it debuts at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show.
