Up for auction is my 2003 Audi RS6. I am the 3rd owner. Since you're here, I'm sure you know how rare and unique this car is; it will surely be a collectible some day due to the limited number produced. You also probably know how expensive they are to maintain. Instead of telling you how powerful and fun to drive it is you'd probably be more interested in how it's been maintained so here's what I know:

I've owned the car for about a year but prior to that it spent it's entire life in California so the exterior is in great shape as you can see in the photos. Mechanically, this car has not been modified in any way, it is bone stock. The interior is in great condition as well; of note, the leather seats have been re-dyed (no rips or tears) and all of the carbon fiber trim was replaced with a new custom set from OCarbon, so no need to worry about the old trim's clear cracking. I have some touch-up paint and leather dye that will be included in the sale.

After I purchased it I had some preventative maintenance performed at roughly 109,000 miles: Timing belt, serpentine belt, water pump, thermostat, timing belt tensioner, idler pulley, crankshaft seal, driver's side valve cover gasket, timing belt tension rollers, alternator control module with brushes,  inter-coolers sealed, plastic oil cooler pipe replaced with Bufkin metal one, DRC suspension removed and replaced with Koni Yellow Sport Shocks, upper control arms, and I'm probably forgetting a few other things. I had planned to keep this car for a long time; unfortunately a financial situation has arisen forcing me to sell it.

I was not able to obtain much in the way of service records from the previous owner but I did check with the dealership who sold the car originally. That was a treat; those of you that have had to do this with Audi know that they're not willing help much with this process. They were able to confirm that the torque converter was serviced at 75,000 miles and recalls had been completed on the DRC suspension (which I still removed because it sucked) and the rollover valve nipple. There was also service performed on the brake booster of some type.

Basically what I'm saying is that this car needs nothing at the moment. There's no check engine light, ABS light, or any light on that shouldn't be. :) It uses no oil, leaks nothing, and has a decent amount of tread left on the tires. I will say it will probably need brakes and front rotors soon. I had purchased a complete set of ceramic brake pads and 2 front OE Audi rotors in anticipation so they will go with the car.

I've priced it a bit below book value and I ask you to consider the preventative maintenance that's been completed compared to some of the others for sale in the same price range. Yes, the car is 10-years old and not perfect; other things will be needed eventually but I believe you will have a nice period of trouble-free operation so you'll have time to save up some cash in anticipation! If you have any questions, please email me and I will get back with you as soon as possible. Thanks for taking a look.

2013 Audi Allroad

Wed, 15 May 2013

Reincarnated With A Smaller And Less Passionate Soul
Mention the name "Allroad" to most automotive enthusiasts, and it's likely to conjure up images of the Audi A6 Allroad Quattro, first introduced in 1999. That car-like alternative to a sport utility vehicle was based on the German automaker's A6 Avant wagon. But unlike its luxurious road-going sibling, the Allroad was an on- and off-road variant fitted with an advanced height-adjustable air suspension for additional ground clearance, rugged tires on oversized wheels to improve off-pavement grip and unpainted flared fenders and bumpers to protect it from rugged use. That original A6 Allroad arrived with Audi's powerful twin-turbo 2.7-liter V6, more to offset its increased weight than to boost performance, and was eventually offered with a 4.2-liter V8 before it was discontinued in 2005.
Fast forward eight years, and Audi has introduced its replacement - now based on the smaller A4 Avant wagon.

Audi testing long-tail version of R18 e-tron quattro for Le Mans

Sat, 27 Apr 2013

Race teams are always looking for ways to shave hundredths of seconds of their lap times. Case in point: Audi is making some slight changes to its prototype racecar to make it ever so much more slippery as it cuts through the air.
Debuting at the second round of the FIA World Endurance Championship at Spa on May 4, Audi will be testing a long-tail version of its R18 E-tron Quattro racecar. As its name suggests, the long-tail car gets a lengthened rear section with the goal of improving aerodynamics. The long-tail will be run alongside the standard version of the racecar as a testbed for possible changes that might be in store, heading into the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Audi did not say how many inches were added to the racecar, but as you can see in the image above, "long-tail" definitely doesn't take on the same meaning of classic long-tail cars of the past such as the Porsche 917. More information about the car, Audi's team and even some info about the track itself can be found below.

Audi readying diesel PHEV models for US and Europe

Wed, 30 Jul 2014

With the racing pedigree provided by the Audi R18 E-Tron Quattro, you'd be forgiven for thinking that the German king of Le Mans is capitalizing on the connection between its road cars and race cars at every opportunity. Maybe there's an entire range of Le Mans Editions for the automakers diesel-hybrid offerings, with perhaps Tom Kristensen acting as the brand's spokesperson for the technology in Europe. You'd be wrong, though, because despite the R18's overwhelming successes in endurance racing, Audi the road-car manufacturer doesn't offer a single diesel-hybrid production car.
This factoid will hopefully be as short lived as it is disappointing, though, as a diesel-electric is around the corner, according to the brand's tech boss, Ulrich Hackenberg. In fact, it gets better than a mere diesel-hybrid; it will be a plug-in diesel-hybrid, only the second to hit the market, alongside the European-market Volvo V60.
According to Hackenberg, the new tech will be the result of a marriage between the brand's well-received 3.0-liter, TDI V6 with an electric motor. The next-generation Audi Q7 (shown above) will be the initial recipient, confirming previous reports that claimed a PHEV TDI could come to the next-gen CUV. Its MLB architecture, meanwhile, would allow the plug-in-hybrid-diesel powertrain to be fitted easily enough to the A8 luxury sedan. While the new Q7 should hit the market at some point in 2015, it's unclear when the PHEV TDI model could see the light of day.
