In-depth model description below:
Audi took a lot of their Le Mans-winning racing technology and funneled it into the limited-production Audi RS4, which is joined in 2008 by a new two-door cabriolet model. It employs a 4.2L V8 to crank out 420 horsepower, and the engine makes the overwhelming majority of its 317 lb-ft of torque at slightly over 2,000 rpms. The RS4 has more than a potent engine. A fully hydraulic dynamic ride control not only limits body lean to enhance the RS4's cornering capabilities, but also delivers a surprisingly good ride. Audi has tuned the RS4's quattro AWD system for maximum performance, and it allows a bit more wheel spin than usual for improved acceleration. Electronic stability control is standard. Larger tires, unique wheels and the dual exhaust with 4 exhaust tips are the main exterior clues that the RS4 packs a punch. Inside, carbon fiber is used in tasteful doses as accents, it has Recaro racing bucket seats, and the pedals are trimmed in bright alloy. A "Sport" button allows the driver to alter the throttle mapping for even faster response. It also opens the V8's exhaust system for an even more ominous rumble. The RS4 has the usual standard luxury touches one expects from Audi: bi-xenon self-leveling lights, automatic climate control, rear park assist, a six-disc CD changer, and power seats, mirrors, windows, and locks. The Premium Package adds navigation, auto-dimming mirrors, a memory feature for seats and mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, Bluetooth, power rear sunshades, Sirius satellite radio, and a Bose sound system.

2014 Audi SQ5
Thu, 24 Jul 2014It may be obvious at this point, but here in the United States, European manufacturer routinely give us the short end of the stick. Now, I'm not talking about models or brands that don't come here, like the Mercedes-Benz A-Class or the entire Renault line. No, instead, I'm referring to cars that are sold right here in the Land of the Free in one bodystyle, while Europe enjoys the same vehicle with a wider variety of configurations.
A prime example of this is the Audi S4/S5 line. In America, we can have the supercharged twins in two-door coupe, four-door sedan, and cabriolet body styles. Meanwhile, our Euroland cousins get the same trio of bodystyles, as well as the A5/S5 Sportback, a characterful 'four-door coupe,' and a versatile hauler, the S4 Avant. At first glance, Audi of America lacks a vehicle that can compete with the latter's blend of performance, versatility and subdued looks. So, what's an American with around $60,000 and an obsession with quick, conservative haulers to do? Well, he can buy an SQ5. (Though it bears mentioning, our US-spec SQ5 is vastly different than what's available to our European friends.)
The SQ5 has a huge number of things going for it that make it a viable alternative to a proper hot wagon, and foremost among them are its looks - this is a sleeper. Audi has thankfully decided not to molest the clean looks of the standard Q5 when penning the sportier model.
US-bound Audi A3 Sedan spied testing
Fri, 25 Jan 2013As the Audi A3 sedan gets closer to its debut, Audi has camouflaged prototypes to take it on the streets for final testing. Last time we saw the A3, it was testing almost in the buff, but it was on a closed track so our spy shooters were kept at quite a distance.
Now that the newest Audi sedan is testing on public roads, our latest batch of spy shots gives us a more detailed look at the entry-level luxury player despite the swirly camo. Except for the oversized wheels and the fancy exhaust outlets and door mirrors, the production version of the car should look almost identical to the A3 sedan concept we saw in Geneva a couple years ago. Some of the details we can see include a good-sized panoramic roof that stretches almost halfway into the rear passenger space and signature Audi LED-accented headlights and taillights.
Woman wins Audi R8 Spyder on The Price Is Right, goes bananas
Mon, 30 Dec 2013Of course, we love to tune into The Price Is Right to see average Americans spin the big wheel, play a round of Plinko or Cliff Hangers, and participate in the gladiatorial Showcase Showdown. But there is one reason, and one reason alone that the daytime game show has captivated us since its inception in 1972... 'A new car!!!'
Back in November, the show held a Dream Car Week that saw contestants get the chance to win whips like a Porsche 911 and a BMW 6 Series, amongst others. It must have been pretty successful, as the PIR team is back at it, this time giving away an Audi R8 Spyder with a sticker price of $157,300. That makes it the single most-expensive item given away in the show's history.
The R8's new owner, Sheree Heil, may not fit the image of a typical R8 driver - we anticipate she'll learn which side of the car to drive on after the show is over - but she is clearly tickled pink with her big win. Check out the insanity below.
