 Hi, all-

Thanks much for taking a look at my auction.  Available here is a 2003 Audi Allroad with 2.7 Turbo engine and 6-speed manual transmission.  Most are automatics, so if you've been waiting for a manual car, this may be the one for you.  As with most cars this age and miles, it's not without its flaws, but it is an overall very clean example of an Allroad and should give the next owner many more miles of enjoyment.  I've owned the car for about 2 years, and the recent purchase of an electric car has this one sitting around.  I'll give a brief description of my car here, and please feel free to ask any questions you have.

Mechanical:  It runs very well, with just a couple of maintenance items to tend to.  The air suspension works well, with 3 of the 4 bladders, all of the struts, and the compressor having been replaced in the last 2 years.  The car will be sold with an uninstalled replacement right-front bladder.  The current one lost pressure on the coldest days this past winter.  It will also need rear brake pads, as the existing ones are near the end of their service life.  I very recently had the water pump, timing belt, and a thermostat gasket serviced... which sounds like a simple thing, but it's really not.  I replaced the tires with Pirelli P6 Allroad all season tires about a year ago, and they have less than 2,000 miles on them.   In summary, I don't think you'll find very much to service.

Electrical: Nearly everything works perfectly.  Occasionally the remote lock fails to unlock the car, but once unlocked with the physical key, it seems to work fine.  I've replaced the turn signal switch, which is a common ailment for this vintage of Audi.   I've also replaced the original foggy headlamps with clear aftermarket units, and all of their auto-leveling function is retained and functional.  The rear lamps have been replaced with LED lamps.  There is an iPod adapter installed, and I replaced with radio, which works properly.  As with the mechanical system, there's very little to tend to.

Interior: The interior is clean, with a few defects.  The soft-touch paint has worn from the air conditioning controls and window switches, which is common.  The driver-side window switch pod is a bit loose.  The wood is not cracked or hazed.  The seat covers are not split and the seams are good.  If not for the soft touch pieces, it would be in great shape.

Exterior/Body: It's quite clean for its age, but there is an issue with the paint.  Some time in 2007, the previous own had a body repair done to the front of the vehicle by the dealership, and in attempting to match the color, they sprayed the front half the car.  Over time the color has faded differently that the back half, and under certain lighting conditions, you can see the difference.  I attempted to take the photos under conditions that it is obvious, and if you look closely, you can see it in the photos (difference in color where front and rear doors meet).  I bought it this way because the rest of the car was clean and had a good service history, and given that the repair was performed at a dealership, you can find it on its Carfax report.  Beyond this, there are a few various small door dings and light scratches on the body, the largest of which are on the hood (from highway debris) and the rear bumper.  I've also noticed that the left-front door is sometime difficult to latch... it takes a certain effort... and so the car will include a replacement latch mechanism.  This is a common issue.  Lastly, I had the wheels refinished last year, but there's a scratch on one of them, and they do need to be detailed.

In summary, it's a nice car, and I wouldn't hesitate driving it anywhere.   As mentioned above, please ask any questions you may have.

A bit of small print:  The car is being offered locally and I reserve the right to end the auction early if a local buyer purchases the vehicle.  A $500 deposit is needed within 48 hours of the end of the auction, and the balance is due within 7 days.  Bidders with less than 10 feedback should contact me before bidding, or I may cancel your bid.  Bidding is open internationally, and the buyer is responsible for all transportation and its arrangement.  It's desired to have the vehicle picked up within 2 weeks following the conclusion of the auction.  If you require more time, I can arrange storage at a cost.

Thanks again for looking!

Audi Q7 testing gives us clearer view of new look

Wed, 04 Dec 2013

Audi just announced its intentions to build the Q1 in 2016. By that time, the company will already have introduced the opposing bookend to that subcompact utility vehicle, the fullsize Q7. The last time we saw the next-gen Audi Q7 out testing, our spy shots were very low quality and didn't reveal much about the luxury SUV. This time around we're able to make out a few key elements about the Q7.
For starters, the unfinished headlights have a stylish, wave-like lighting element with a three-dimensional appearance, while the rear of the Q7 will definitely get a similar wraparound liftgate as the current model. Overall, this prototype looks to be about the same size as the existing Q7, so it will be interesting to see how Audi squeezes almost 800 pounds from the SUV's curb weight. The diet will surely help improve efficiency, and we also hear that Audi is considering a plug-in hybrid model in addition to the standard gas and diesel variants.
Riding on a shared platform with the next-gen Volkswagen Touareg, Porsche Cayenne and the upcoming Bentley Falcon SUV, the next Audi Q7 is expected to bow in late 2014 for the 2015 model year.

2015 Audi Q3 headed for Detroit before hitting US showrooms this fall

Thu, 09 Jan 2014

The market for small premium crossover vehicles continues to grow in popularity here in the US, and Audi is finally ready to get in on the action. Going up against competitors like the BMW X1, Land Rover Range Rover Evoque and soon-to-arrive Mercedes GLA-Class, Audi will unveil a US-spec version of the 2015 Q3 at the Detroit Auto Show next week. And in what we can only assume is an amusing coincidence, the Q3 will go on sale during Q3 of this year.
As we reported back in October, it appears that our Q3 will boast a slightly taller ride height than its European counterpart, but Audi isn't releasing too much information about the crossover just yet. What we know for sure is that it will be powered by Audi's well-liked 2.0-liter turbocharged TFSI inline-four producing 200 horsepower and 207 pound-feet of torque. A six-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive will come standard, while Audi's Quattro all-wheel-drive system will be optional.
Visually, the 2015 Q3 shown here has a different front fascia design than its European counterpart, but it's not immediately clear if this is exclusive to the US model or if it will be a new element for Q3 in all markets. We don't expect pricing to be announced until closer to its on-sale date, but the Q3 will definitely be stuffed with content, even in base form. Audi has already confirmed such niceties as a panoramic moonroof, Xenon headlights and heated leather seats. Delivering a good amount of practicality for its size, the Q3 will provide a maximum cargo capacity of up to 48.2 cubic feet and 16.2 cu-ft with the rear seats in place.

Audi trademarks SQ2, SQ4, Q9 and F-Tron nameplates

Thu, 26 Dec 2013

Audi is planning a whole raft of new models for the near future, and now we have further insight into what at least some of those models might be. The German automaker has reportedly filed trademarks for a series of model names, including SQ2, SQ4, Q9 and F-Tron.
Following in the footsteps of the SQ5 performance crossover, the SQ2 and SQ4 nameplates would seem to indicate that Audi is planning performance versions of its upcoming compact crossovers. The Q9 would suggest that a larger crossover is in the works to slot in above the already gargantuan Q7. And the F-Tron name could be used for a fuel-cell version of the A7 or other models, following a similar naming pattern to the e-tron range of electric vehicles.
Of course Audi could simply be filing these trademarks as a safeguard and may not actually build any of these models. But one way or another, it indicates a certain measure of intent exists as Ingolstadt gears up to expand its lineup with 11 new models in the next few years.
