I'm selling (or trading) my Audi A6 because I'd like a Japanese classic with a manual transmission (I'd especially be interested in an early Toyota Celica for trade, 1st through 3rd generations with a preference to 1st generation liftback and 3rd generation liftback or convertible).
I've actually found exactly what I would like to buy locally, but if that falls through I'm still open to trading for Japanese classics in good condition.
I can be pretty flexible on the price!
It does have some very minor cosmetic issues on the outside, nothing that can't be fixed inexpensively or that detracts from the look of the car.
The interior is black leather and is in quite good shape with the exception of normal wear and tear on the driver's seat. The remainder of the leather is in very good shape for its age.
It has every option Audi put on these cars: working sunroof, independent climate zones, rear AC, heated seats in the front and rear, AC blows very cold and the heat blows very hot.
It also has a CD player in the front and a 6 disk CD changer in the back. The stereo system is the stock system from Audi, and it's absolutely stellar.
The tiptronic system functions perfectly and the transmission shifts strong and works perfectly (had the transmission serviced about 3k miles ago; at this point in time I also had them verify the Quattro system is working and in great shape).
The timing belt and timing belt tensioner (very important to change both on time in Audis) were changed about the same time as the tranny servicing.
It also has a brand new hydraulic power steering rack.
It also has the darkest window tinting allowed.
There's so many good things about this car that you'll just have to come see it for yourself.
I'm pricing this car well below blue book because it does have a minor problem with the secondary air injection system, which I've had a garage that specializes in Audis and BMWs look at. They have quoted me about $350 to fix.
The front faring vents are not presently in the faring, however I do have those with the car and will be provided along with the car.

I really love this car, but I would like something a bit smaller, sportier and with a manual transmission (I'm just not all that in love with the auto/automanual; I grew up with manuals and this is one of the few automatics I've owned).
I've been using it as my daily driver for about a year, and it's comfortable, plush, luxurious (it's nicer than more than half the new cars out there now) and wonderful to drive, I've just discovered that It's not really my particular cup of tea.

Also, I'm pricing well below blue book (KBB $5400) for the condition of the car due to the minor cosmetic issues and the secondary air injection issue.

As stated, I'm open to trades if you have one of the following with a manual transmission (or something similar that I might be interested in):

Any Japanese classics (1960s through 1985) in good condition, most especially Toyota Celicas and Celica Supras.

Toyota MR2
Datsun Z (or 510 coupe in good condition)
Nissan 240SX
Mazda MX-5
Early Mazda RX-7

If you have something else not listed here that I might be interested in, feel free to drop me a line (will also consider trades plus cash)!

This car is listed locally so I reserve the right to end auction early in the event of local sale.

Thanks for looking!

Audi designs science fiction car for Ender's Game movie [w/video]

Wed, 07 Aug 2013

Audi is no stranger to product placement in movies, but the upcoming sci-fi adventure movie, Ender's Game, will be the first time the German automaker has ever unveiled a "purely virtual" vehicle design in a movie. As the movie's star car, the futuristic Audi fleet shuttle quattro was created by Audi Design as a "vision for the future world."
This new movie car comes almost 10 years after one of our favorite Audi movie cars ever, the Audi RSQ that was prominently used in the 2004 sci-fi action film, I, Robot. Looking back, the RSQ obviously used cues from the Audi R8, but it's unclear if the fleet shuttle quattro has any design implications for future Audi production models.
The movie, based on the best-selling novel of the same name, stars Harrison Ford and Asa Butterfield, and it premiers in the US on November 1. Audi has provided images of the fleet shuttle quattro, and Summit Entertainment has released its latest trailer for the movie, which is posted below along with an Audi press release.

2015 Audi A3 configurator is up and running

Thu, 16 Jan 2014

Potential customers for the new Audi A3 should set aside some time during their lunch breaks to head over and build their ideal example of the new sedan. The official configurator, complete with pricing and options, has gone live on the Audi website.
Customers can choose from three trim levels (Premium, Premium Plus and Prestige), while each trim can be had with either the Volkswagen Group's familiar 2.0-liter, turbocharged, 220-horsepower four-cylinder or a 1.8-liter, turbocharged, 170-horsepower four-cylinder. Buyers of the 2.0-liter will enjoy Quattro all-wheel drive while power for the 1.8T is channeled through the front wheels only. A six-speed, S-Tronic dual-clutch transmission is standard across the range.
You can check out full pricing on the A3 right here, but as a means of recap, the base Premium trim with the 1.8-liter engine starts at $29,900. A Premium Plus 1.8T starts $32,800 and the Prestige 1.8T will cost $38,700. Adding a 2.0-liter turbo and Quattro increases the price by $3,000, regardless of trim. Those prices don't include an $895 destination charge.

Consumer Reports says infotainment systems 'growing first-year reliability plague'

Mon, 27 Oct 2014

The Consumer Reports Annual Auto Reliability Survey (right) is out, and the top two spots look much the same as last year's list with Lexus and Toyota in first and second place, respectively. However, there are some major shakeups for 2014, with Acura plunging eight spots from third in 2013 to 11th this year, and Mazda replaces it on the lowest step of the podium. Honda and Audi round out the top five. This year's list includes six Japanese brands in the top 10, two Europeans, one America and one Korean.
Acura isn't the only one taking a tumble, though. Infiniti is the biggest loser this year by dropping 14 spots to 20th place. Other big losses come from Mercedes-Benz with an 11-place fall to 24th, and GMC, which declines 10 positions to 19th.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, it's not traditional mechanical bugs hauling down these automaker's reliability scores. Instead, pesky problems with infotainment systems are taking a series toll on the rankings. According to Consumer Reports, complaints about "in-car electronics" were the most grumbled about element in new cars. Problem areas included things like unresponsive touchscreens, issues pairing phones and multi-use controllers that refused to work right.
