Hello,

I am selling this 1991 Alfa Romeo Spider. It is my personal car, I am not a dealer. I purchased this car a few years back, and have set about making it into a great car. The car has had a correct repaint  ( rossa red), new interior, with sunbrella cloth inserts in the seats and new seat cushions.
I have had the car completely gone over by my local Alfa mechanic. If you email me I will give you his name and number so you can speak to him. The car has new Pirelli tires on excellent rims. The only blemish is a dash crack that is barely visible, but it is there.(see pictures)

Car runs great, shifts smooth with no 2nd gear grinding. Very little oil leak, I am seeing 2 to 3 drops between drives.

Also you will notice the odometer has 29,ish miles listed, but I have pictured a sticker where the odometer was replaced in 1997 when it had 41399 miles. So the actual miles is 70,893.  This is really a very enjoyable car to drive, I bought and played with it in thoughts I would give it to my son. But his  13 size shoe is just not working with this little car.

Let me just say a word about listing a car on ebay. I just bought another car to play with that was listed as "pristine". After I spent $500 having the car delivered it was far less than pristine, and has already been sent out for a lot of cosmetic issues. I want to be as honest as I can about this car. It is in very nice shape, anything that has needed to be repaired or replaced has been, and I am very proud of how good it looks and runs. The paint is beautiful, the interior really looks great, and everything works, even the air when charged. Compared to the other "pristine" car I just bought this goes way above and beyond.

I live outside Charlotte NC, so if you are close and would like to see the car, please let me know. You can also arrange for an inspection.

I will try to answer any questions you may have in regards to the Alfa. At my Buy It Now of $11,000 you can go on a lot of ice cream runs for years, and never loose more than a few thousand bucks, this one will not dollar you to death.

Thanks
Dave

Alfa Romeo 8C, Maserati Quattroporte and Granturismo models recalled over rust fears

Mon, 20 May 2013

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has announced Maserati and Alfa Romeo are recalling certain Quattroporte, Granturismo and 8C models over potentially faulty tie rod ends. According to NHTSA, 2005-2008 Quattroporte, 2008 Granturismo and 2008 8C units may have been assembled with tie rod ends that have insufficient corrosion protection. As such, the components may rust, weaken and potentially fail. If that happens, the driver could lose control of the vehicle and cause an accident.
Maserati and Alfa Romeo will contact owners and replace the tie rod end assemblies once the recall gets underway in June. All told, 7,438 vehicles are impacted by the recall. You can read the full NHTSA notice below for more information.

Marchionne on Alfa's US return, Dodge Dart's powertrain weakness and minivan plans

Fri, 18 Jan 2013

As a reporter covering an auto show, the one opportunity you never want to miss is going to the Sergio Marchionne press briefing.
"This undertaking to bring Alfa back is a one-shot deal... We are not going to do this twice."
There just aren't that many real characters left in the auto industry. Marchionne, who sits atop both Chrysler and Fiat, is not only one of the smartest execs in the business, but also the most frank. Herein, a sample of the quotable always-sweatered executive:

Marchionne threatens to move Alfa production out of Italy

Fri, 12 Jul 2013

Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne was unsurprisingly frank when asked by reporters about potential investments in Italian manufacturing for Alfa Romeo and Maserati, giving the Italian government the ultimatum, "Italy should decide if they want [Alfa Romeo's relaunch] to happen here or not as Fiat and Chrysler have several alternatives." Them's fightin' words.
Fiat's issue with the government stems directly from its courtroom clashes with the Fiom labor union. The two are currently embroiled in proceedings over longer shifts and shorter breaks, as Fiom has so far refused to sign a new contract citing revised labor laws that it says are anti-union.
According to Bloomberg, Fiat will be spending over $2.5 billion on development of eight new Alfas and six new Maseratis, in a bid to wrest some of the luxury pie away from BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Audi. But that's only going to happen if the government is willing to play ball and make life easier on Fiat.
