1985 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce on 2040-cars
Glen Ridge, New Jersey, United States
This Spider has been mechanically restored. Approximately $10,000 has gone into the car in the last two years. Cosmetically, it is beautiful. The paint is original, but very nice. The exterior hasn't been altered since I bought the car. I was more concerned with drivability. Basically everything has been replaced by Col-Gen Motors in Newark, NJ. Before they installed the $2000 european free-flow exhaust (which has added nice power) with the Ansa rear-section, the head mechanical appraised the car for $10,000, and that was before Alfa announced that they are returning to the US, which has led to the appreciation of these cars greatly. I bought this car among the rest because its frame was completely rust-free, which is the most important thing on the Spider (along with all cars). The head mechanic of Col-Gen also mentioned that since the car is so original and clean, it could be a show-car. The A/C, heat, and all the rest works. The radio is clear, and the car is ready to be driven hard. The engine is perfect, and the gearbox is extremely pleasant. There is no second gear grind, and it shifts nicely all the way to fifth gear. I can provide aid with shipping.

Just 45% of Fiat dealers are profitable, and they're angry about it
Mon, 07 Oct 2013<
On average, Fiat dealers have only been selling about 17 cars a month.
We've been wondering for some time how Fiat dealers in North America have been getting along with just one model range in their showrooms up until recently. Franchisees spent millions building, stocking and manning sleek new 'studio' showrooms, only to have but a single model to sell, the cherubic 500. And even with its many derivatives, the Cinquecento is still an inexpensive model with its attendant lower margins. Perhaps it should come as no surprise then, that just 45 percent of US Fiat dealers are said to be profitable.
Fiat set to invest $12B on new models, stop Euro losses in 3 years
Mon, 09 Dec 2013Naturally, you'd expect a massive automaker like Fiat to have an in-depth plan to exit the current European-market doldrums, and you'd expect that plan to include plenty of new vehicles to attract those precious buyers that still remain despite the financial downturn. And you'd be right, though Fiat does seem to have a few unexpected twists up its corporate sleeve.
Perhaps the biggest shocker is a report that Fiat will completely drop the Punto, a car with mass-market appeal aimed at small-car buyers cross-shopping the popular Volkswagen Polo. Its replacement will be a five-door Fiat 500 aimed at upmarket buyers (sounds awfully similar to the 500L) that will be built in Poland. Lower-end customers will reportedly be served by variants of the Fiat Panda.
Borrowing a page from the BMW, Daimler and Volkswagen playbook, reports Automotive News, Fiat is said to have plans to reignite production at its Italian factories by retooling them to build high-end vehicles from Maserati and Alfa Romeo. These will be marketed as premium products, built by skilled Italian workers (who are paid wages that are 75-percent higher than those building Fiats in Poland), and will be sold around the world.
Chrysler appoints new heads of Alfa Romeo and Ram
Mon, 18 Aug 2014Chrysler has announced to two key appointments to its senior leadership, both of them taking immediate effect. First up is Reid Bigland, who has been named head of the Alfa Romeo brand for North America. Bigland has served until now as head of the Ram Truck brand, a portfolio he now hands over to Robert Hegbloom, who had served until now as its director.
As a result of the appointments, both Bigland and Hegbloom will take up seats on Chrysler's NAFTA Leadership Team, and Bigland will also join the Fiat Chrysler Group Executive Council - the highest decision-making body in the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles empire.
As per Sergio Marchionne's leadership style, Bigland will continue to serve in two major capacities, maintaining his role as president and CEO of Chrysler Canada. Other senior executives who hold multiple key portfolios include Harald Wester (who serves as the group's Chief Technology Officer and also overseas Alfa Romeo, Maserati and Abarth), Olivier Francois (group Chief Marketing Officer and head of the Fiat brand) and Michael Manley (head of the Asia-Pacific region and the Jeep brand).
