This 1984 Alfa Romeo is a Great example of a driver condition Spider. The car runs and drives excellently with no mechanical problems to note.  I have not really had the time I thought I was going to in order to enjoy it this summer, and need to raise money for other projects. I have owned this car the least amount of time of any in my collection, therefore I have the least amount of sentimental attachment to it. The paint and body are very acceptable, the car shows very well and only has a few minor chips and a small dent in the nose. There is no body rust or rust or rust  in the frame whatsoever, however the spare tire well has rusted through in places. This is not visible unless the trunk is open and the wheel is removed, or the car is on a lift, there is no danger of the wheel falling out. a brand new tire well can be ordered from a catalog I will include for something to the effect of $125 but this really isn't necessary. The interior is in great condition, with the only issue to note being that the trunk release panel has come loose and the trunk must be released by pulling on the cable. again, this is a part that is available brand new in the aforementioned Alfa/Fiat catalog. I had bought this car as a project a few months ago and have just recently finished it. as far as I know the only things this car really needs now are for the A/C to be charged (it blows cool, not cold) and the vent fan to be lubed, a right turn signal bulb to be changed, the trunk release panel replaced, and one of the "Spider Veloce" scripts replaced. there is also the typical difficulty with second gear, it does not usually grind, but it is tough to get in to second sometimes. I had really intended on just keeping it, but after spending nearly $2500 on repairs and parts and with so many other things requiring my attention and money right now, I do not have much choice but to let it go. Everything listed below was done by my Mechanic, who has serviced this car for both myself and the previous owner, aside from the radiator replacement and oil/air filter changes which I did myself. I have receipts for all work completed. I will also include the tool necessary for removing the license plate, and the one for removing the oil drain plug, as well as a spare belt.

I or my mechanic have completed the following within the past 3 months-

Clutch replaced

Rear wheel bearings replaced

Drive shaft couplings replaced

Axel shaft collar and seals replaced

Differential oil changed

Engine oil and filter changed (Mobile 1 15w50 synthetic)

Radiator and radiator hoses replaced (Brand new, not from salvage)

Changed the air filter to a high flow K&N.

*The soft top is near brand new, but it was replaced by the previous owner, so it is probably close to a year old.

This really is a fun little car that does not require anything to be enjoyable the day it is delivered to the winning bidder. As I stated, it is a driver, not a show car, so it has small imperfections, but overall it shows well, runs and drives excellently, and has had lots of recent maintenance. It should offer lots of motoring fun for years to come. I will be more than happy to answer any questions about the car from serious bidders. the buyer is responsible for shipping charges and arrangement, please only bid if you have the means to pay for it.

Alfa Romeo considering Ferrari-developed engines for new product lineup

Sun, 06 Apr 2014

A report in Bloomberg adds more details to the plans for Alfa Romeo's fourth turnaround plan in Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne's tenure, and this time Ferrari is apparently going to be part of the show. In December Automotive News Europe reported that a new Maserati-derived rear-drive architecture would be the centerpiece at Alfa Romeo, as well as coming Chrysler and Dodge products. At the time, ANE said the platform would support a new midsize sedan and wagon perhaps to be called Giulia, a fullsize sedan and a midsize crossover, with retail appearance of the product initiative commencing perhaps as soon as next year. It would be part of Fiat's $12.3-billion spend on new models and European recovery.
The Bloomberg report says that particulars haven't been finalized, but the plan is to have six new Alfas appear over the next five years, two of which would be SUVs. The futures of the Mito and Giulietta, two of the three cars Alfa currently sells and 99 percent of sales last year, aren't assured, meaning that the lineup in six years could be seven cars (including the 4C), six of which we haven't any definitive clue of yet. The top-tier versions of those cars, according to the report - perhaps the Quadrifoglio Verde - "will be equipped with motors developed by Ferrari."
Marchionne wants to get sales up to 300,000 units per year when the lineup is complete, pairing Alfa sales with Jeep's global dealer network to open up the retail channel. That kind of volume would get Fiat's Italian plants back in business properly, even though Marchionne's stance on Italy-only Alfa production would mean the end of the anticipated roadster that was to be twinned with the coming Mazda MX-5 Miata. Alfa's direction will be laid out in Detroit in May as part of the overall strategy presentation for Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV.

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles: The next five years

Tue, 06 May 2014

Unless you've been living under a rock for the past 24 hours, you've no doubt read about all of the big future product news coming out of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles today. We had individual brand reports from Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram, Alfa Romeo, Fiat, Maserati and even Ferrari, but in the interest of simplifying and summarizing, we're going to list out the hard facts once more. Of course, with all of this still off in the future, there's still the possibility that a few changes will be made. But as of what we know right now, here's what's coming, and what's going away.

Fiat set to invest $12B on new models, stop Euro losses in 3 years

Mon, 09 Dec 2013

Naturally, you'd expect a massive automaker like Fiat to have an in-depth plan to exit the current European-market doldrums, and you'd expect that plan to include plenty of new vehicles to attract those precious buyers that still remain despite the financial downturn. And you'd be right, though Fiat does seem to have a few unexpected twists up its corporate sleeve.
Perhaps the biggest shocker is a report that Fiat will completely drop the Punto, a car with mass-market appeal aimed at small-car buyers cross-shopping the popular Volkswagen Polo. Its replacement will be a five-door Fiat 500 aimed at upmarket buyers (sounds awfully similar to the 500L) that will be built in Poland. Lower-end customers will reportedly be served by variants of the Fiat Panda.
Borrowing a page from the BMW, Daimler and Volkswagen playbook, reports Automotive News, Fiat is said to have plans to reignite production at its Italian factories by retooling them to build high-end vehicles from Maserati and Alfa Romeo. These will be marketed as premium products, built by skilled Italian workers (who are paid wages that are 75-percent higher than those building Fiats in Poland), and will be sold around the world.
