1972 Alfa Romeo Spider. Original spica fuel injection. The engine starts and runs very well and seems to have plenty of power when driving. There is an occasional back fire when quickly letting off the throttle which I believe is a simple timing issue. The syncro for second gear needs fixed as it is difficult to downshift into second gear without grinding. Other than that the car is great to drive. It steers straight and tight and feels solid and stable at any speed. It brakes straight though a little soft. I was told by the previous owner that it has new front end bushings and bearings and alignment. It has newer tires and comes with a hard top that is in great shape. The convertible top material needs replaced but the top frame itself is in good condition. The seats could use recovered and I am including a new dash cover that needs installed. The car is in need of a re paint and a fiew minor fixes. There is some bubbling on the lower rocker panels and there is one rust spot on the floor pan behind the passenger seat that shows up in the pictures. The odometer shows 65K, I believe it has 165K. All the glass is good. This car can be a daily driver with only minor tinkering or is a good candidate for restoration. I have set a reasonably low reserve price that is well below the value of this car and less than what I have into it. The car is located in Portland Oregon and I will assist with any shipping necessary. I have shipped a fiew cars and Im happy to help make arrangements for shipping and the car is in a safe dry place and can be stored here for a little while while shipping arrangements are made. The car should be able to drive to its new home without a problem. This car comes with a folder of receipts for maintenance and repairs dating back to the late 1970's where the car was serviced by Portland Oregons Ron Tonkin Gran Turismo. I have a clean title in hand. Heres a link to the youtube video of the engine running and a walk around of the car. http://youtu.be/jmmJEZeanEI

Marchionne threatens to move Alfa production out of Italy
Fri, 12 Jul 2013Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne was unsurprisingly frank when asked by reporters about potential investments in Italian manufacturing for Alfa Romeo and Maserati, giving the Italian government the ultimatum, "Italy should decide if they want [Alfa Romeo's relaunch] to happen here or not as Fiat and Chrysler have several alternatives." Them's fightin' words.
Fiat's issue with the government stems directly from its courtroom clashes with the Fiom labor union. The two are currently embroiled in proceedings over longer shifts and shorter breaks, as Fiom has so far refused to sign a new contract citing revised labor laws that it says are anti-union.
According to Bloomberg, Fiat will be spending over $2.5 billion on development of eight new Alfas and six new Maseratis, in a bid to wrest some of the luxury pie away from BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Audi. But that's only going to happen if the government is willing to play ball and make life easier on Fiat.
Fiat reconsidering Mazda-based Alfa Romeo roadster? [w/poll]
Mon, 03 Mar 2014Alfa giveth and Alfa taketh away. With apologies to Job (he has gone through a lot, after all), that's how things are looking at the Italian automaker - whether it's the promise of new products or its impending return to the North American market. But it's especially true when it comes to new roadsters.
While Alfa Romeo is expected to unveil the 4C Spider at the Geneva Motor Show this week, reports are now suggesting that its other roadster project is being called into question. That project is a joint venture between Fiat and Mazda, which was set to produce a version of its next MX-5 Miata as an Alfa Romeo, and was even changing the design to accommodate Alfa's requirements.
Now it appears, however, that the whole project in doubt. The problem seems to stem from Sergio Marchionne's pronouncements that, as long as he's in charge, there won't be an Alfa Romeo built outside of Italy.
Marchionne on Alfa's US return, Dodge Dart's powertrain weakness and minivan plans
Fri, 18 Jan 2013As a reporter covering an auto show, the one opportunity you never want to miss is going to the Sergio Marchionne press briefing.
"This undertaking to bring Alfa back is a one-shot deal... We are not going to do this twice."
There just aren't that many real characters left in the auto industry. Marchionne, who sits atop both Chrysler and Fiat, is not only one of the smartest execs in the business, but also the most frank. Herein, a sample of the quotable always-sweatered executive:
