This 1994 Alfa Romeo 164LS is an ideal project or parts car and is sold AS-IS, WHERE-IS. Was my father-in-law's, a big Alfa fan. Unfortunately he had a serious medical condition that VERY rapidly deteriorated his Alzheimer's and he died. After the estate stuff had been settled we wound up with this car and another Alfa (a 1992 Spider for parts/project that will be up soon). This car "ran when parked" and the reason it was parked was because some electrical issue popped up. Shortly thereafter my father-in-law's was hsopitalized for an unrelated issue, and his condition deteriorated almost overnight and he was never able to get to addressing this issue. Because of how thorough he was about his Alfas he kept every service record of this car. If the winning bidder wants them, I'll try to locate them and include them. (But I can't guarantee we'll be able to find them.)

When you connect it to a car charger, the dashboard fully lights up, the seats move forward and back, etc. But it won't start and I don't know if the issue is minor (and therefore a cheap fix) or not. Our combined mechanical skills are fueling cars and taking them to the dealer. (The shop that used to service these closed several years ago...) There is no warranty, expressed or implied or even incidentally hinted at.

Therefore I'm starting this listing for only one cent and NO RESERVE.

Title is clear. The car will need to be trailered to wherever you are. We can help when the transporter gets here, but transport costs and arrangements are exclusively the winning bidder's responsibility.

Other than one spot of corrosion in front of the gas cap and some small rock chips in the hood, the bodywork is fine; no fading or clear coat peeling etc. at all. The interior is in very good shape and the driver's seat has only a tiny bit of "flex" marks and practically no wear to the bolster area. Miles are pretty low at <103K. It has an aftermarket sound system and he replaced the electrical auto-dim rearview mirror with a manual one from Italy, but we still have the original if you know how to fix those. It also has aftermarket wheels and tires (17") but otherwise everything else is stock and seemingly in good shape. There is also a spare digital display that comes with the car.

I'll try to answer any questions as best as I can but I'm not very familiar with these cars and not mechanically inclined, but I'll try my best. I figure the parts alone could be a good bargain and if you can figure out the electrical issue you may have a steal.

Next-gen Mazda MX-5 Miata mule spied 'Ring testing

Fans of simple, lightweight motoring, rejoice - we now have images of the next-generation Mazda MX-5 Miata undergoing testing at der Nürburgring Nordschleife. Now, to be fair, this isn't some lightly camouflaged example that will give us a great peak of what the next Miata, which will also become the next Alfa Romeo Spider, will look like. This is a mule, with the new bits hidden under a current Miata's body. That doesn't mean there aren't a few scraps of valuable information here, though.
According to our flock of camera-toting spies at the Nürburgring, the next Miata is likely to grow a bit, as new models are wont to do. In particular, it will be longer and wider, and the wheelbase is likely going to be stretched, based on the shape of the wheel wells and doors. Both of those factors will add more space in the cabin.
Those are the big indications provided by these photos, but while the MX-5 might be growing, it's a safe bet based on these images that it, and the (likely pricier) Alfa, will retain the classic, long-hood, short-deck styling that so typifies rear-drive roadsters.

Fiat set to invest $12B on new models, stop Euro losses in 3 years

Naturally, you'd expect a massive automaker like Fiat to have an in-depth plan to exit the current European-market doldrums, and you'd expect that plan to include plenty of new vehicles to attract those precious buyers that still remain despite the financial downturn. And you'd be right, though Fiat does seem to have a few unexpected twists up its corporate sleeve.
Perhaps the biggest shocker is a report that Fiat will completely drop the Punto, a car with mass-market appeal aimed at small-car buyers cross-shopping the popular Volkswagen Polo. Its replacement will be a five-door Fiat 500 aimed at upmarket buyers (sounds awfully similar to the 500L) that will be built in Poland. Lower-end customers will reportedly be served by variants of the Fiat Panda.
Borrowing a page from the BMW, Daimler and Volkswagen playbook, reports Automotive News, Fiat is said to have plans to reignite production at its Italian factories by retooling them to build high-end vehicles from Maserati and Alfa Romeo. These will be marketed as premium products, built by skilled Italian workers (who are paid wages that are 75-percent higher than those building Fiats in Poland), and will be sold around the world.

A report in Bloomberg adds more details to the plans for Alfa Romeo's fourth turnaround plan in Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne's tenure, and this time Ferrari is apparently going to be part of the show. In December Automotive News Europe reported that a new Maserati-derived rear-drive architecture would be the centerpiece at Alfa Romeo, as well as coming Chrysler and Dodge products. At the time, ANE said the platform would support a new midsize sedan and wagon perhaps to be called Giulia, a fullsize sedan and a midsize crossover, with retail appearance of the product initiative commencing perhaps as soon as next year. It would be part of Fiat's $12.3-billion spend on new models and European recovery.
The Bloomberg report says that particulars haven't been finalized, but the plan is to have six new Alfas appear over the next five years, two of which would be SUVs. The futures of the Mito and Giulietta, two of the three cars Alfa currently sells and 99 percent of sales last year, aren't assured, meaning that the lineup in six years could be seven cars (including the 4C), six of which we haven't any definitive clue of yet. The top-tier versions of those cars, according to the report - perhaps the Quadrifoglio Verde - "will be equipped with motors developed by Ferrari."
Marchionne wants to get sales up to 300,000 units per year when the lineup is complete, pairing Alfa sales with Jeep's global dealer network to open up the retail channel. That kind of volume would get Fiat's Italian plants back in business properly, even though Marchionne's stance on Italy-only Alfa production would mean the end of the anticipated roadster that was to be twinned with the coming Mazda MX-5 Miata. Alfa's direction will be laid out in Detroit in May as part of the overall strategy presentation for Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV.
