This car is beautiful and drives great, right NOW. It is NOT perfect so let's get that out of the way now. It has an Oregon branded title. The branded title is the results of body damage at a time when the value of GTVs were low, The cost of repair exceeded the cars value at the time of damage. This was the fate of many Alfas just 10 to 15 years ago. The owner at the time took what the insurance company paid and his own money and had the car repaired properly. As near as I can tell the nose and part of  the right front fender were replaced. There is evidence of floor repairs and currently the floors are without rust. The overall condition of the body of the car is near perfect with some small surface rust bubbles near the right rear window just below the pillar badge. There is a windshield scratch on the passengers side that can be polished out. The side marker lights and bumper uprights have been remove for better cosmetics. There is a small area, about an inch, on the top of the rear seat that needs repair. Other than this the car is ready to drive now. Get in, start it and drive away.

Current top price for a perfect GTV is $35,000. This in not a perfect car but looks and drives like one. You can own it for far less than $35,000 and drive it the day it arrives at your house. You will of course have responsibility for transportation.

This car is has red performance springs and Koni shocks on all four corners.

The following work was completed on Tuesday January 28, 2014, where parts were replaced they were replaced with NEW parts: Replace  clutch slave cylinder and hose, replace fuel tank filter, replace all fuel hoses, replace fuel pump, replace battery, replace points..spark plugs..distributor cap..distributor rotor..condenser, coolant bleeder, anti-freeze, gear oil trans and diff, brake fluid, clutch fluid, replace (used) 1-4 exhaust manifold, engine oil and filter.

The following services were performed: Replace radiator filler flange and service radiator, rebuild wiper motor and wiper mechanism, Replace main wire on Alternator, repair backup light and left rear tail lights.

replace old tires with 4 NEW TIRES!

I did not mention the Transmission because there is nothing to say except that it is smooth as glass.

I would buy this car myself (I'm selling this car for a friend who is eBay challenged) but I already have 4 GTVs and one is burgundy.

All recent work was performed by Veloce Motors in Oregon by a 1973 factory trained  certified Alfa mechanic.

Please read the description before asking questions. This is an auction and WILL take place on eBay and not on the phone. I will be glad to talk to the winner on the phone at the end of the Auction.

Mazda engineers urging execs for more RWD models

Wed, 02 Oct 2013

According to Edmunds, Mazda engineers are pressuring the company to create more rear-wheel-drive models, in an effort to better differentiate itself from its rivals. This push is reportedly coming from middle and senior engineers within the company, and these folks at Mazda believe this rear-drive strategy would allow the automaker to produce more distinctive, fun to drive cars. Mazda discontinued the rear-drive (and rotary-engined) RX-8 a few years ago, leaving the MX-5 Miata as the company's only RWD offering.
As enthusiasts, we're fully on board with Mazda offering more rear-drive cars, but unsurprisingly, the company's top management isn't exactly keen on the idea - and with good reason. First and foremost, the cost associated with redesigning fresh architecture for new models would be very high, and considering the fact that Mazda hasn't exactly been raking in the dough lately, an expensive new venture like this doesn't make a whole lot of sense. What's more, Mazda's latest front-drive models - the Mazda3, Mazda6 and CX-5 - have been very well-received, and are helping the company gain sales momentum.
But that doesn't mean there aren't other options. Edmunds reminds us that Mazda is already partnering with Alfa Romeo on the next-generation Miata, and if this collaboration is successful, perhaps the relationship could bear additional fruit. After all, Alfa Romeo is said to be working on returning to its rear-wheel-drive roots, so Mazda's engineers might be able to make a case for more RWD goodness after all.

Leno samples Corvette Z06, steam cars, supercars and the wonders of Pebble Beach

Fri, 12 Sep 2014

While Jay Leno's Garage was conceived to highlight the wonders of The Big Chin's eponymous storage facility, Leno does occasionally get out an into the larger world. Pebble Beach and the festivities around Monterey recently provided a great excuse for a road trip, and Leno seemingly had a pretty full dance card.
In an episode aptly dubbed The Ultimate Car Week, our host takes us through a pretty representative selection of great things to see in and around Pebble. Starting with a ride-along in a steam car, Jay manages to check in on the latest McLaren supercar and drive the Alfa Romeo 4C along the way. Oh, and he takes a good look at the all-new Corvette Z06 (next to the original Z06) before hitting the Concourse d'Elegance, too.
